The complaints allege the company failed to deliver the ordered furniture on time, often waiting months past the delivery date they had been quoted. BBB has reached out to the business owner to give him an opportunity to respond to this pattern of complaints. On 2/20/2019 Rivergrain provided the following response:
We realize that we are new to the world of business and have much to learn. We have always set out with the best intentions for our business and it's wonderful patrons.
We got behind on orders due to both personal and professional shortcomings. A lot of the day to day issues with running a business are things we are still actively learning from. We wish we would have taken action sooner but thought more hours and harder working was the key to combating being behind schedule and coming into issues with clients backing out of their orders due to missed delivery dates and lack of proper customer service. That has been our biggest downfall. Working harder only caused a bigger gap in customer service and the deadlines kept stacking up.
While we have done so much business and a lot of it good. Their is still an inexcusable amount of dissatisfied clients that we need desperately to make right by.
As if today 2/20/19 we have stopped taking any new orders. We have made a commitment to our current schedule and intend on fully turning this beast around.
We need to invest the proper amount of time in every piece we produce. This can not happen if we are trying to rush a piece or focusing on others to satisfy a growing business and client base.
We think moving forward this will be the tastes and most professional choice to resolving our issues with delivery and expected lead times.
When all is finished and any outstanding debts age settled. We will sit down and develop a strong business plan that supports the growth and expectations we set for the customer. At the end of the day there isn't anything more important than that relationship.
We look forward to what is to come and hope to find success and share our wonderful products as responsibly and professionally as possible.
