This website is a manipulative scam owned by the **** family; whom own most of Mackinaw City and created this website to showcase their properties while trying to make it appear as if it’s an official City site; it isn’t. Even the attorney general has looked into this and the family had to settle with her for breaking consumer protection laws and unethical/manipulative business practices. Below are links that further explain… I’d also encourage others to look into what they own; then peruse reviews of their properties on Facebook, yelp, Google and Travelocity- they are full of complaints of being scammed, mistreated and filthy, unsanitary, and unsafe properties- which seem to be the ****** trademark. My own personal experience at their hotel, Cabins of Mackinaw, was an utter nightmare and I’ve never showered as quickly as when I left before in my life. After they scammed me out of almost $1,000 despite filthy dirty, fire hazard, mold laden and unsafe conditions. I chose to leave and lose the $, as many others have, as well. It’s truly unfortunate this family has turned a historic MI city into a filthy, dumpy, dirty, seedy and scheming dishonest place. I will never be back to Mackinaw City because of these people. https://www.interlochenpublicradio.org/2022-02-09/ags-office-goes-after-major-mackinaw-city-hotel-owners https://www.michiganradio.org/criminal-justice-legal-system/2022-07-01/michigan-attorney-general-settles-dispute-with-mackinaw-city-hotel-family

With all due respect, you booked through Hotels.com. No local entity or family to my knowledge owns Hotels.com. Hotels.com has their own review section, which you had access to when making your reservation that is controlled by Hotels.com. You did not book through the Chamber of Tourism. For you not to pay for the reservation that you contracted would be unlawful.

his is in regards to our stay t the Hamilton Inn Select Beachfront in Mackinaw City, MI. One star for the location. Zero for the customer service & lack of interest to credit me back money for my stay. I complained to the front desk about standing in line at least a half hour for the complimentary breakfast which ran out of food. This was before breakfast had ended. I also complained about how dirty the beach was. There were so many cigarette butts in the sand all up and down the beach. The chaise chairs were covered in bird poop. The front desk gave me a phone to call regarding issues. When I made the complaint, they said they would call back. I followed up and I had someone pick up several times to take the call and say nothing. When I finally did get someone on the phone, he was rude and unaccommodating. I asked for the manager, and he said he was their customer service manager. His name he said was Scott B. He ended up being rude and hanging up on me. I am under the impression this hotel has no true customer service person to make things right in the event of any kind. The front desk said they can not take complaints and to call that phone number. The guy at that phone basically told me I completed my stay and he wasn't going to do anything because we didn't get charged extra for breakfast. However, when you book at x price with the impression of receiving breakfast, you are paying towards said breakfast. In my opinion this hotel is not looking at returning guests, but rather tourist non returning guests.

On the ****************** website found a nice looking hotel, The Bayside with good amenities listed at a reasonable price for Mackinaw City. I made a reservation for 8/5/22. Shortly before we left, I printed the confirmation and noticed the name was different. It was for the Mackinaw Lodge (picture seemed fairly nice). I called the Bayside and asked what was going on, expressed confusion as my confirmation showed a different hotel. I was told there was nothing under my name. I asked if they had the phone number for the Mackinaw Lodge which they gave me. I called them and yes, they had it. When we arrived on the 5th, we were more confused as there wasn't any hotel that looked like the picture. We found it by the address which signage showed Cabins of Mackinaw with cabins behind it, and farther back an older 2 story hotel. When we checked in, the clerk, *** wouldn't say where our room was until I had signed all paperwork. I questioned him about the name and was told it had been changed about two weeks ago as people were confused because of the cabins. Our room #*** was back there. Looked pretty bad. Peeling paint, ripped curtains & small dead animal on ground by door. Left our luggage there and went out for dinner. Went to ********** Irish Pub and Restaurant. While waiting for our server noticed the menu was for The ***** Saloon. I asked the server for their menu and there was no such thing. One and the same business. We walked out. Found our favorite Mackinaw ***************** When we got back to our room, we noticed piece of carpet missing, no safety handles in the deep tub, coat rack shelf hanging over a bed, soft spot in flooring, folded very damp bath ******** didn't work. Went to the desk & complained. No refund possible. Clerk with Russian accent went to room & got TV on, and removed animal which he said was cotton ball. Both clerks were very brusk and clearly no refunds. This experience has ruined Mackinaw City for us. Will pass through but not stay there.
