****************** did in fact, request her diploma from the Dorsey College ***** Campus. It is Dorsey Colleges policy and standard practice within higher education that if a inactive student or graduate has a tuition balance, then their diploma is not released until the balance is resolved.  With that said, Dorsey is willing to work with graduates that are seeking employment by confirming graduation directly to the employer with acceptable documentation.  Upon receipt of this BBB Case, Dorsey College ********************* ******************* reached out directly to ****************** and communicated with both ****************** and the employer. On March 21, 2023, we provided a letter of completion to ****************** and a copy of Ms. ************** to the employer.

We are confident that ****************** has what she needs to meet the employers request.

Thank you for this opportunity to respond.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of why I am rejecting this response appear below:

      Regards,

      *******************************

A emailed copy was sent to a possible employer. From they copy of the email it looks like my last name could possibly be spelled incorrectly.   Do they not release diplomas at graduation. So no ones gets a diploma until the loan is paid in full? Part of my student loan was a Pell ***** do they know they are holding students diplomas hostage?

      To whom it may concern,

      STUDENT REQUEST
******************************* has requested her transcript from Dorsey College be sent to the ************** ***** of ******************************************** completed the Practical Nurse program at our ***** campus September 20, 2018. Upon completion of the program, students are required to participate in an ******************************* (ATI),  Virtual Coaching for NCLEX preparation. As disclosed in the ******* Student Handbook, once the student(s) successfully completes the Virtual Coaching for NCLEX preparation, they will obtain the greenlight.  Upon receipt of the green light, the Director of ******* will send the students certificate of completion to the ************** ***** of ******* as required by the ******** ********** of ********* and Regulatory Affairs.

As of to date, **************** has never achieved the greenlight. Our ******* Program Manager at the ***** Campus has even assisted the student utilizing an alternative option (Wolters Kluwer-Passpoint) to aid the student with NCLEX readiness.  **************** has never consistently committed herself to completing any NCLEX preparation tool we have provided.   **************** has a long history of working inconsistently in ATI with several instances of no engagement for long periods of time. Ultimately, she was not successful at acquiring eligibility for the NCLEX.  She has also been unsuccessful working/testing in Passpoint, the alternative option utilized. **************** has no showed or canceled at least 12 times when she was scheduled to complete an assessment. Also, she has sporadically, at best, attended tutoring.  She has attempted hundreds of practice assessments but has only completed five recommended remediations.

We acknowledge that COVID impacted student morale and motivation.  However, since **************** graduated in 2018, we have had over ***** students graduate and become Licensed Practical Nurses.  The ***** campus Program Manager has personally worked with numerous students before and during COVID that followed her guidance and recommendations and are now Licensed Practical Nurses.

      RECOMMENDATION
Schedule a meeting for **************** with the ***** Director of ******* and Program Manager and our Executive Director of *******, to identify a plan for success that will work for ****************  It should minimally include the following:

12 week commitment (time could be less or more depending on students consistency)
      Scheduled tutoring

Participation in open labs as needed
Consistency and commitment to the plan
Periodic reviews with the ** Manager
      Self-determination
      Positive attitude

As an institution of higher learning, we are successful when our students are successful! Therefore, we are committed to continuing to work and assist ****************, providing she follows the recommended plan. Additionally, we will pay for her license and NCLEX fees upon successful completion of the plan that will be created for *****************
