  Short story: The owner gave me a price and said install in a month. He strung me along for 6 months and wanted more money to do the job because his measurements were off...way off. No apologies or compromises to complete the job. End of season and no chance to hire someone else. Long story: I met with the owner of HR&E Masonry, in May of 2022 for installation of 2 walkways and a driveway. He personally measured everything, provided me with a price, and an estimated installation time of late June/early July. I accepted and put down a deposit according to his terms. June and July passed with no word. I patiently waited, knowing that other businesses were suffering from staffing shortages. In September, I sent him a polite text asking if he had an updated installation estimate. He texted back that he had experienced staffing shortages and he was estimating October. October passed and I finally received a text to be ready within a week for install. We prepared and were genuinely excited. On November 9, 2022, he showed up with his crew and I met him in the driveway. The first thing he said was that the measurements were off and asked if I did anything to the driveway. Well, there's our house is at the end of the driveway, and it hasn't moved, so no, I did not alter the length of the driveway. He said that he must have taken the wrong measurements and that there was a significant difference between what we agreed to pave and the number he wrote down. He then asked for an additional $1700 to do the job. He failed to take accurate measurements, cost me the entire 2022 season (the weather will turn in a few days), and now wants me to pay more because he screwed up. He gave me back my deposit and left, no apology or offer to compromise on the error he made. Now we can't even hire someone else because the season is over, and the weather will be significantly dropping in 2 days. Don't waste your time with HR&E Masonry.

  Thank you for your feed back,  and I apologize for your l the confusion and misunderstanding. And you are correct I've had way more then my fair share of employee issues. Not to mention it took longer to get a permit as to the township but renewing the head building inspectors contract. The $**** was my way of compromising as do to the math should of been ****. I did apologize and I did refund your money and i gave you the option to move forward 3 times. I give you my sincere apologies and didn't mean to waste your time. Have a great and blessed day.
