On 3/15/25 I was parked at the ********************* in *********, **. I parked in what, I believed was visitor parking. In my personal opinion, the signage indicating this is misleading to me. In less than 12hr, ******** Towing seized my vehicle, without warning, in the early morning hours of 3/16 at 0455. The next morning I had to walk around the property trying to find any kind of sign indicating which towing company serviced this lot, as the apartment's office was closed. (Evidently there is a sign at the front entrance that I did not see. I do believe they should post this info by every single visitor lot). I even wondered if my car was stolen. Eventually, after calling multiple towing companies, I found my vehicle. After driving to the towing office, I had to pay a fee of $285. You have to pay in cash and cannot use a card. Since it was a Sunday and no banks were open to get exact change from my only option was to use the *** outside their window. I chose to avoid that because I didn't want to pay an *** fee. So I gave the front desk secretary $300 that I had on hand, and she would not give me change. I understand if this is their policy, but I personally find this unreasonable. Then I went to the second location to pick up my car. I took photos/videos of the damage. At the end of the day, my total damages were $1,783. I have spent the last two weeks calling ******** Towing, being transferred to management, and leaving voicemails. I never received a call back. Because I had to file with my insurance, there is a good chance my rates will now increase. I have spoken with local police department's and learned a lot about the company and its practices. The reviews on ****** and BBB from other people are of a similar nature.Business Response

We have communicated with this customer. The damage that was allegedly done to the vehicle is not consistent with anything that could have been caused during the towing process.
The vehicle was towed correctly and legally pursuant to the policies of the private property owner and state and local laws.

This company was completely unprofessional and high-priced. My car was wrongfully towed from my complex because I live there! At 6am and was not even in the impound for a full day and I was charged 240 when I came to pick it up by 1:00pm ! After paying the company they took over 2.5 hours to have someone come to the impound lot to open the gate so that I can get my car. On top of the inconsiderate service, under Michigan law it states that the towing company cannot charge more than $25 a day for vehicles under ******lbs for storage charge and I was charged $30 a day when I have a 2017 ******* ****** and the weight is less than *****lbs.Business Response

The vehicle was towed because it was parked in resident parking with no resident pass. The apartment complex establishes rules that the residents agree to when they sign a lease. One of those rules is that they must have a parking pass visible. This vehicle did not.
In addition, the information regarding the state law in the complaint is not accurate. That information is from an AI generated scrape of the law. There is no state law regulating how much can be charged for storage if you look at the actual State of Michigan MCL page.
This complaint has no veracity. The vehicle was towed according to rules and policies set by the apartment complex that owns the property, and charges did not break state law.

We have set rates with police departments. Unfortunately, your vehicle was impounded at the request of a police officer. It also appears that you have already paid the fine and picked the vehicle up. There is nothing that we can do at this time.Initial Complaint

I was told by this company I would be able to pick up a check for a refund. But I was told that a month ago and they avoid giving me the check and will not give me the check even though they said theyd give it to me.Business Response

We are not aware of management authorizing a refund for this situation. The vehicle was towed from an apartment complex due to the fact that it was parked in resident parking with no resident pass.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: I was told by the apartment complex and by an employee of your company that you have been in touch with the complex and was told to refund me. I was told by your employee that I would be able to pick up my refund check a month ago. She also reassured me that she did get in touch with her manager as well as the complex and that I was approved for a refund.

I, along with two other residents of my apartment complex, had our vehicles unlawfully towed from in front of our residences on 10/05/2024 and 10/06/2024. The towing company claimed that we had improper parking permits. I responded by informing them that I have photo and video evidence of my car at the impound lot with the parking pass in place and visible. They emailed me and accused me of "jumping the fence" and planting the pass myself, threatening that they have surveillance footage of both me and my fellow residents trespassing and planting parking passes in our vehicles. After asking them for said proof, and offering to send them my photo and video evidence, they blocked my phone number and refuse email. The apartment complex has told us that their hands are tied since Graham's Towing & Recovery has "connections" in the ********************* Department).Their response email reads as such, quoting directly: " I have photosprior to towing it without the pass which suggests you jumped the fence at the lot and put the pass on." copied and pasted from the response email.Proof that this company acted illegally:- ******** tow law states that companies must allow those who have been towed to retrieve their personal belongings for free, and charge no more than $25 per visit after. Upon attempt to do this, Graham's Towing & Recovery charged two residents $40 in cash to do this.- ******** tow law states that towing companies must accept all major credit card companies, (code 36-). This corresponds with the policies listed on Graham's Towing & Recovery website, which stated that they only required cash for fees; however, all three parties were forced to pay cash. One party (myself) was threatened to have our car sold in the next week if we didn't pay all cash, at once. The residents wronged by this company would only like to be refunded our fees. We have reached out to the company through multiple methods such as : email and phone, with no response.Business Response

This was not a business transaction and thus does not fall within the purview of the BBB.Business Response

This vehicle was towed due to the fact that it was parked in resident parking with no resident parking permit. The apartment complex requests that their property be patrolled overnight to prevent unauthorized persons from parking in resident parking. If the person is a visitor, there is ample visitor parking available. There was no parking pass visible at the time that the vehicle was towed. It is the responsibility of the vehicle operator to ensure that their parking pass is in the vehicle and visible at the time of parking. All complaints that are submitted through our impounded vehicles concern form are responded to. In addition, we are always willing to work with a customer if requested to do so by the property management. This did not occur in this case because the vehicle was rightfully towed. Unfortunately, it is very common for people to be unhappy when their vehicle is towed, even when it was done lawfully and correctly.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because of the multiple Michigan towing laws broken when stealing my vehicle.
A) you did not allow me to pay with credit card. Michigan towing law states that if a vehicle is towed without 24/hr notice, the towing company must accept one of three major credit card companies.
B) since my vehicle was on private property, a request from the police department or owner is required BY LAW. Your company did not receive a request.
C) I have photo AND VIDEO evidence of my vehicle AT YOUR LOT with the parking pass.
Sincerely,

Even if you are a resident, you are required to have a valid parking pass.Customer Answer

Complaint: 22392745
I am rejecting this response because:I did have a parking pass, alone with proof of my car at the lot with the pass on it, which I am willing to provide. Again, the pass was visible in the vehicle. The back-and-forth of you claiming I didn’t have a pass and me having proof of my pass is going nowhere. I continue saying I have proof, you continue saying you didn’t break the law. I would like to have an actual conversation about this where both sides can provide what they have.

My daughter's car was illegally towed from her apartment complex. The business when contacted about the mistake was not helpful at all in resolving the matter. The car had the proper window sticker and tag hanging from the rear view mirror. The dispatcher even commented that she saw the tags. We waited over 4 hours for someone to actually contact us and say that they will not charge us for the tow and that we can pick up the car.Seeking $ for the uber to pick up my daughter to take her to get her car and $$ for the gas that my daughter had. to get her friend to drive her to her volleyball practice at 6am this morning.Would also want the business to retrain their drivers to make sure they do a walk around to make sure they have the correct vehicle when towing,Initial Complaint

My car was towed on Saturday the 5th of August by mistake. Upon calling grahams they stated that there is nothing they can do and i have to pay the $200 to get my car back. They wouldn't even allow for me to just show them that the pass is present on the vehicle without paying a nonrefundable $40 gate fee just to prove to them that my car was towed by mistake. The receptionist working that day was absolutely awful to me and this could've all been avoided if she could hear me out and just let me show them. The only way for me to get my car was to pay the $200 cash and file a complaint on their website online. I made the payment at their location on lovers lane then was directed to drive to their other location to pick up my vehicle which was 20 minutes away. Once i got there there was no one waiting for me and i had to wait one hour quincidentaly with another guy who was also waiting for his car that also got towed by mistake. When the driver finaly showed up to let us in he witnessed me walk up to the vehicle and show him that my pass was there and it got towed by mistake. I will attach the photos of that occurance proving that the pass was present. Two weeks have passed and no response has been received. Even after calling every day since. I am looking for a full refund at a reasonable time. Two weeks of no communication is awful.Initial Complaint

On April 15th, around 11:30 pm, my car was towed from an apartment complex in *********.I had been parked in my friends parking spot for approximately 20 mins and had a friend outside telling me they were towing my car. The towtruck driver left with my vehicle going extremely fast over the speed bumps. We were told by bystanders about 10 minutes later that my vehicle was being swapped onto another truck. So we headed down to where they were swapping to another truck. Once we got there the driver ran to his vehicle and took off. We asked the other towtruck driver if we could pay to have the vehicle dropped. She said it would be $180 to have it dropped. We gave her (2) $100 bills. She said they don't carry change so we left it at that. When the driver came back to drop my car, the rear bumper and rocker pannel were damaged. The driver clearly failed to do their due diligence by caring peoperly for someone elses personal property. I have filled out an impound concern/complaint form and have made multiple attempts to reach a manager to get things settled. Each time I've called they have said a manager was not available and they will call back another day. I also left a voice mail for who I was told was a manager and have not received a return call. I have attached pictures and also have a video of my car from where it was towed from - from 20 mins prior - and there is no damage. At this point I just want my money back so I can repair my vehicle.Initial Complaint

Bought a cars from ******** Towing at their auction, that they did not even have the title to one of them. They received their money in cash for the the three vehicles purchase from them at the auction, in which I received the title to the other two, but they are refusing to take care of the title for the third vehicle, because they are refusing to do the correct paperwork, after it was corrected by the police station, I was also informed by the *** that they need to come in and do the title. They are rude when you call put in to some voicemail, no one calls you back, I wish they would get on this site and say that they attempted to contact me and get this resolved. I have recorded every conversation, and mailed proof of what they need to do and they keep giving me the run around, and all they did is return it with a sticky note stating contact the police station. The police have done with they needed to do, also verified by the ***, ******** needs to do their part and GET MY TITLE! Otherwise they are committed fraud, a crime for selling property they do not own in which they collected monies, and are refusing to give me what I paid for, and I have the bill of sale from them. This would be a good case for courts and TV. So ******** please do not get on here and provide false information, that this standard, or that they attempted to contact me, or they sent me things in the mail, because this can be verified, and proven not.Business Response

We have been in communication with this customer on multiple occasions. The paperwork that was provided to them was given to ** by the police department that handled the vehicle originally. The paperwork is something that we have very little control over, as it is created and handled by the police department and the ******** Secretary of State. The customer is somehow expecting us to override the governmental agencies that have jurisdiction over the matter. As has been explained to the customer repeatedly, their issue lies with the police department and the Secretary of State. We, as a private company, have no ability to alter the paperwork. We legally cannot do anything further. This is not due to a lack of caring or desire to help, but rather a legal inability to do anything to assist. If the customer wishes to return the vehicle, we will refund their money. They will need to prove that they have not removed any parts off of the vehicle, and we will retake possession of it.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: They are aware that I have provided Grahams Towing with the paper work from the police department, which is the ***34 that was provided by the police department, which was also taken to the secretary of state, whom also stated that ******** Towing needs to get the title, so I am trying to figure out where the so called override of the state paperwork is needed. You sold a vehicle that you did not have the proper paperwork for, which is against the law. Now are telling me that the Secretary of State does not know their job, now I have the proof that the police department made their corrections, which was verified by the Secretary of State, whom cannot legally give me the title because I am not a representative of ******** Towing. My next step will be to take legal action.

My car got towed from visitors parking and a have proof that it was parking in the right spotBusiness Response
Date: 08/29/2022
The vehicle was not parked in visitor parking. Our drivers are very thorough in documenting every vehicle that is towed. If a vehicle is properly and legally parked, it will not get towed.
Every vehicle is reviewed by management to ensure compliance with local and state laws, in addition to policies set by the property owner/management.
