In February, 2022, we went to the Grand Ave Car Wash in Bloomington. There is a sign on the wall indicating that a $15 hold will be placed on your credit or debit card (if you choose a card payment), but that you will only be charged for the services that you receive. As the car wash is a self-service type, the first few minutes (unknown number, not advertised) are $3.50, but if you run out of time, you can add more for an additional $2.50 (This number might be $2.75, it scrolled across the screen quickly and I did not take a photo of it so I am not completely sure). There is a charge on our debit card for $15 from February 5, even though our final **** should only have been $6 (or $6.25 if the second charge was $2.75). There was no refund issued for the difference. Of course, I took the business at its word since this is fairly common and failed to check that the money would be refunded within a week.Saturday, April 2, 2022, we returned to the same self-service car wash, and again a charge for $15 was placed on our card (this time our credit card). The charge went through in its entirety on 2/5/2022 and none of the money has been refunded even though, again, our charge should only be $6 (or $6.25 if the second charge was $2.75).During neither of our two visits did we authorize more than $6 ($6.25). After neither of our visits was the balance of the money returned to our account.Further to these complaints, the signage was incredibly cryptic (generally), and it was unclear how/when to make a selection (soap, wax, rinse etc). More concerning, however, was the unclear timing mechanism. Because the charge for the car wash is based on the time, it should be clear to consumers how much time they have to operate the power washer before they begin. As it is, the timer first counts up to some number (I never did figure out when it stopped counting) and at some point starts counting down from 10 (I think?) though I'm still not sure of the significance of it.
