My son purchased his first vehicle here for $4200. The engine light came on, and my husband asked them to do a diagnostics test. We were only told about one issue that came up. We were prepared to do the repairs, and were expecting around a $1200 to $1500 repair bill. We were not expecting to have issues the day after we drove the car home. The entire exhaust system needed to be replaced as well as the timing belt, etc. The final bill is over $6500! We contacted them to share our concerns. Their response was that it is sold "As Is", and our mechanic fleeced us. We have used the same mechanic for 4 years and have never had an issue. When asked about the necessity for a safety check and inspection of the car before it is sold, they responded that they don't have someone to do that. The cars are sold "As Is". Well we will not be patronizing this "establishment" in the future. I myself along with my Sales personal have had conversations with both Mr. ***** *********************. It was explained to them there was a check engine light for a camshaft position sensor - and that the worse case scenario could mean it needed timing chains. They were well aware that repair should be around $1,000.00. I was contacted yesterday after they had already had the repairs done. Which I do feel they were way overcharged for the repairs. For example - they were charged $1,200.00 for a transfer case which it was used and they are typically around $200.00. Had they contacted us before agreeing to the repairs we could have offered them a huge discount through our mechanic. They were also encouraged to take the vehicle for an inspection before they purchased the vehicle, but they declined that.Review fromMatthew H

******* I am very sorry you feel the need to bash our business!! Unfortunately you bought an as is used vehicle and drove it ***** plus miles. *** would one expect us to know something would happen to your vehicle with ******* miles on it ***** miles after you purchase it? Wouldn't it be great to be able to see into the future of upcoming issues with a used vehicle? *** do we know you didn't take care of it, check the oil, or abuse it?Review fromTammy R

***CONSUMER ALERT ****BE CAREFUL WHEN BUYING A VEHICLE FROM SANDS AUTO IN *********, ***My husband and I bought a car from Sands Auto in *********, ** on 5/7/24 for our teenage daughter and got scammed out of thousands of dollars in repairs for that car. They will only pay $250 and give us a discount at a repair shop. They claimed that the other dealership they got it from sold it to them "AS IS" and will not pay for any repairs. THAT IS HOW THEY GET YOU. They have a work around the lemon laws by buying vehicles "AS IS" from another dealership. Sands Autos also sells their vehicles "AS IS" claiming that they didn't know there was anything wrong with the car. I find that hard to believe. A comment from Sands Auto on the BBB website regarding a customer complaint. "We also strongly encourage our customers to purchase a service contract - as this would cover repairs that *** arise."THAT IS A LIE! They have you sign a bunch of stuff through docusign (through your cellphone and you don't get a printed copy) a service contract is in there but they DO NOT STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO PURCHASE ONE. They don't even mention it. Another comment from Sands Auto on the BBB website regarding another customer complaint. "We also encourage all customers to have the vehicle inspected before purchasing a used vehicle." WRONG! NOT TRUE AT ALL. No one said anything to us about having the vehicle inspected before purchasing. Sands Autos "AS IS" policy should be "BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK".Sands Auto found a loophole around the lemon laws and are using it to scam people.Sand's Auto Sales, LLC

It is unfortunate that you had a problem with the used vehicle you purchased.... however bashing a business truly shows it wouldn't matter what we did to help you, it wouldn't be good enough!! I guess you never heard the saying you attract more bees with honey than vinegar!!! Sands Auto Sales sold you a vehicle as is which you were well aware of as you signed several documents stating this!! We had no obligations where we needed to help you!!! We tried to offer you what we could, and it wasn't good enough. You also should look more into Lemon Laws!! They are not a thing on used vehicles! And as far as Docusign works I would check your email you should have gotten the documents or how else did you signed them? And I am sure if you didn't have a printer we would have helped you get a copy of that!Review fromChris S

I purchased a car form Sand's Auto. within 24 hours of my purchase the Abs and the traction control lights appeared on the dash. I called my salesman and told him what was going on and that I do completely understand the car was sold as is. I wanted to know if there was anything they could do or at least just take a look at it. I was recommended to take it to a mechanic and have them look over it before I purchased it. I did do that, and the mechanic gave it a good look over and said it was good to go. I did receive a text message from my salesman letting me know he would look into it. I have never heard back from anybody. I would like to let people know that they do not stand behind the cars they sell there. I would recommend if you purchase a car from Sands Auto make sure to have a mechanic look over. Once the car is off the lot they will be no help to you. I think a reputable business would at least call me back and say they don't care it is not there problem anymore or help me out a little I did not even own it for 24 hours.Sand's Auto Sales, LLC

As you stated all vehicles are sold as is. My suggestion to you would to go back to your mechanic and see if he *** have unplugged anything while performing the inspection or why he didn't find something that *** have been wrong. If we could see into the future of any issues to come with the vehicles we sell we would be onto something. I apologize my salesman didn't get right back to you - we are a very high volume dealer and most of our days are spent with customers. I think you went a little extreme going to the BBB after only reaching out once to my sales staff.Review fromMarlene F.

Sands Auto Sales from my experience gets no stars. If you are looking for a car do not purchase from this dealer. They are not professional, they do not keep their word, they are dishonest. If you do decided to visit and make a purchase bring a certified mechanic with you. Do not purchase the car on the same day that you see it. Test drive the vehicle really well. Ask all of your questions even if you think that they are not good ones. Regardless of your payment method, get a service contract. If you can get the car inspected while you test drive it. Get a car fax history report. Read other reviews especially the ones in the neighborhood groups trying to warn to of doing business with this business. These are just suggestions from my experience because even though I did these thing they still sold me a vehicle that broke down on me and I had to fix major repairs within 5 days of purchasing. I never got a call back to this day. I spoke with **** the owner and ***** the manager. They initially listed to my concerns and pretended that they were going to help with the repairs but they was really stalling and hoping that I would just go away.Sand's Auto Sales, LLC

Sands Auto Sales sells all used vehicles as is. We are not able to tell if or when an issue may arise on a vehicle. We encourage inspections for this exact reason. Unfortunetly when you purchase a new or used vehicle there is no telling if something could go wrong with it. Sands Auto Sales also offers service contracts to help if unforeseen issues may occur with the vehicle to help with the cost of repairs.Review fromJohn B

I purchased a used car from Sands Auto Sales in ********* ********* on 1/28/2023. The car was said to have been inspected with no major issues, and to be sold as is. However once I went home with the vehicle, I discovered that the car had a major oil and coolant leak, and a major wheel suspension issue. I now have to spend over ***** dollars to have the car repaired. I took out a loan on the car for ***** dollars. So the repair on the car is worth nearly as much as the vehicle. The dealership stated the vehicle was inspected. I was sold a lemon. There are laws protecting consumers against such frauds. Sand's Auto Sales has to provide the vehicle inspection report which stated the car was inspected and good to go for sale. I feel that I have been tricked into buying a junk car, and now I have to suffer with the damages. If the car was inspected and assured to have no major issues during the time of sale then why didn't the car have any heat or why does the wheels make noise after the sale? I think that I was sold and overpriced junk vehicle. It is very unfair that this type of practice is being pulled on customers.I would like for the BBB to file a complaint against *************** Sales of Cambridge ********* and have a bad review against them. This review and report should be posted on their website and stay available for others to see what they are doing. I also would like for them to compensate me and find a solution to my issues. I would like to see reimbursement for being tricked into buying a junk vehicle. This complaint should stay on the record until they find a way to help me and pay me for this.Sand's Auto Sales, LLC

Unfortunetly Sands Auto Sales - does NOT have any licensed mechanics on site. Customers are strongly encouraged to carefully check over the vehicle they are purchasing before they make the purchase or bring it to get inspected and are offered an extended warranty at time of purchase as all purchases are sold "AS IS". If **************** test drove this vehicle I would think he would have noticed if the heat was not working, or if the vehicle was making a noise.Review fromKyle M

1 starTest drove a vehicle and noticed the *** was on. Asked the salesman what codes were thrown and he cleared the codes! Then says 'hih doesn't look like there are any codes". I spoke to the customer who test drove it before me, who also had the code tested by a salesman that was, perhaps, more honest than the one I got. Customer stated there were 5 codes thrown, one including an EVAP system leak. The salesman literally cleared the codes right in front of me. My girlfriend and I both watched it happen. This place needs to be shut down, claiming ignorance about the quality of their vehicles when they know full well what they're selling. This business is unbelievable and they need to be shut down for this disgusting behavior. So happy I walked away after the salesman lied directly to me.
