I called north star for an intermittent heating issue, the technician came out and ran some tests, I was told that everything checks out fine and it’s probably just a restrictive air filter, they changed the air filter out with a cheaper quality one to provide more airflow, this was not the issue, I asked them back again, and again i was told everything checks out, but you could try a high limit switch maybe, or a inducer motor, so I bought new ones, still, not the issue. Called a third time and they sounded angry with me, but still sent a technician after some debate, tech said it all checks out, same issue when he left! I called Dey and they contacted the manufacturer and they had some ideas but needed some test numbers to check them out, when I called Northstar they were openly hostile with me, he sent me an email of the test numbers that were preformed and as it turns out, they didn’t even do a full diagnostics check to give me the test numbers needed, that should have been done on the initial inspection, when I pointed this out and told him I wanted the owner to call me he became angry and hung up on me! My calls have not been returned and I’m out $450 and I have a furnace with its original problem. I just wanted to call a professional and pay to have my problem fixed, quite the opposite of what I experienced.

Mr ****** had us out to check his furnace, it was running at the time of visit, we performed tests and made recommendations, Mr ****** opted not to make repairs. Apparently he chose to make some repairs on his own that didnt work. We returned for two more visits, at no charge, on both visits the unit was running, we performed all factory recommended tests and were unable to find the issue. This unit is older and was installed by Mr ****** himself. We recommended trying to replace some parts, he declined. There is nothing we can do for him when he refuses to make repairs. We have suggested that he call a different company and he refuses. There is no way we can help this customer, sorry.

In response to northstar, just a couple of facts, the recommended repairs were done. The furnace manufacturer disagrees that all proper tests were done, and I was never told to contact another company, I was just treated rudely, which was a good hint for sure, I would just like other customers to be aware of the type of service I received.
