I called to address why I was denied for a bank account. I was told to contact chexsystems. When I called and spoke with a man name ****** a ext **** he yelled at me, told me to be quiet and answer his questions. I simply tried to answer what he was asking but didnt know all of the answers. He then proceeded to hang up on me THREE times while I was attempting to obtain a report from him. I asked to speak with a manager and he replied his managers name was **** and hung up for a 4th time. This is very unprofessional, Im trying to correct an identity theft claim and Chexsystem is unable to provide services to people.Business response

There was a freeze put on my account in 2007. I put it on there because of fraud. Now I need it lifted. But I need a replacement pin. Which I can't get because I don't know what address was used in 2007. They are refusing to help. I can't open any new bank accounts because of this.Business response

Chex Systems, **** (ChexSystems) has reviewed the complaint filed by *************************.??Our records indicate that **************** initially placed a security freeze on his consumer file through our website on January 24, 2017.? ?A confirmation letter with his security freeze PIN was mailed to him on January 25, 2017. On August 5, 2022, **************** contacted ChexSystems by telephone regarding a request to lift the freeze. The consumer did not have his security freeze PIN and explained he attempted to request replacement PIN through our website, and he received an error that the information did not match. The ChexSystems representative provided instructions to the consumer to submit a request in writing and include his name, address and Social Security number. ****************** requested to speak to supervisor and the call was escalated and **************** was provided the same instruction on submitting the request in writing and informed there is no need to include previous address and he could mention his name,social security number, current address, reason for not having PIN and the lift duration.
In order for ChexSystems to update his current address information and communicate with him further at the address provided with the complaint, we must receive the Personal Identification Number (PIN) that was assigned to him when the security freeze was placed. If **************** has lost or misplaced his PIN, he will need to contact ********************** to request a new PIN. I have been calling chexsystem for years about **** of america reporting false information that has impacted my ability to thrive and take care of my family financially chex systems stated i can dispute inaccurate information and creditor has to update or remove it. FCRA States that if information is inaccurate and not completed within *************************************************************************************** chex systems through chexsystems i have also asked in detail for the report and their finding and was told THEY DO NOT DO THE REPORT THEY JUST TAKE WHAT THE CREDITOR SAYS AND THAT **** OF AMERICA DID NOT FWD A REPORT and they read me the 2-3 sentences were BOA stated they are not removing or changing but does not tell me as a consumer why when i have explained how it is not correct I have not been able to get a loan or open a **** account get business funding i have been homeless since covid as a result and it is unethical to keep false information that ruins lives and not even investigate it or delete it as they did not complete the report on time with the requested information.Business response

Account opening decisions are determined by an institution and its individual policies. Our records indicate that ChexSystems previously received disputes directly from the consumer regarding information reported by **** of America. As is our standard practice, ChexSystems placed the reported information in dispute and mailed a letter to notify the consumer of our intent to initiate a reinvestigation. ChexSystems notified **** of America of the consumers dispute and requested that they reinvestigate the accuracy and completeness of the information submitted. **** of America has verified the information to be accurate and complete. **** of America has also informed ChexSystems that due to deposit activity this account was placed under review.During the review it was determined that the account breached the account agreement. Because of this breach the account was closed and reported for suspected fraud activity. My SSN was apparently compromised in the 2017 Equifax Breach, and I've been working with Chex Systems for some weeks now to validate my identity with them and get this cleared up. In the process of that, they requested a copy of my Social Security Card by snail mail or fax. No option to upload to an encrypted location on the website or a secure inbox to email it to. I don't own a fax machine, nor do I own a printer. I'm not about to scan my SSN through public library networks to get a copy made; I work in IT and know exactly what kind of problems that leads to. I conveyed this to Chex Systems, and they have absolutely no alternative or workaround to offer. It's 2022 - fax and snail mail are not only insecure as all get out, they take forever to process compared to traditional email or just having a file-encryption uploader embedded on their website. Failing that, other alternatives might include linking to a screenshot or opening a temporary account to receive email from customers in situations where the customer does not have antiquated equipment available to work with Chex Systems.Firstly, they need to get modern solutions in place if they want to continue legal and secure operation in the **. Secondly, I need someone from Chex Systems to contact me and work out a temporary resolution until they fix their problems internall.Business response

Our records indicate that ChexSystems has received communication directly from the consumer and while processing the request for a consumer disclosure report, discovered that the Social Security number (***)provided was associated with another individuals account information.ChexSystems mailed a letter to notify the consumer that we had initiated the process of reinvestigating this matter. A copy of the consumer disclosure report was also provided. ChexSystems verified that the *** provided is associated with another individuals account information. A letter was sent to ******************** requesting he provide verification of the *** issued from the ****************************** (SSA) so that ChexSystems can further pursue this matter. This verification may be in the form of a letter or other documentation provided by the ****************************** office or its website (www.ssa.gov), or a copy of the Social Security card would also serve as verification of the ***. He may submit the requested information through our website at www.chexsystems.com, by fax at ************, or by mail to Chex Systems, ****, Attn:Consumer Relations, ************************************************. When I contacted ChexSystems for an alternative to mail/fax, they said there isn't an alternative. This representative is now stating the files can be uploaded to ChexSystems.com. Well I have been dealing back in forth with Chex System for over a year.I have tried to open a bank account with 2 different banks.I got denied.I was told to call chex system by the bank.So i call and the first time it said my ss# was link to another name.I file a investagation to be done.They sent me a letter saying it was clear and it had been updated.So i waited then applied for an bank account again and got the denied due to chex system again.So i have went back and forth with them.They say its not them its the bank.I went into the bank branch and the bank president of ************** said something chex system is reporting thats making the bank system red flag me!I have talk with numerous chex system workers over the phone and all keep blaming the bank.And recommending a consumer report.I have got several and they all only show the same thing.All my inquiry.If there is nothing on there why do chex ssystem keep stoping me from living my life...Chex system is causing my family and I so many problem.They are falsly reporting my account.PLESE HELP ME AND MY FAMILY!!!!Business response

4/11/2022 ChexSystems I am unable to speak to a supervisor or anyone that can help me at any of the phone numbers I have been provided. I ordered a *** online over two weeks ago as instructed and I have not received the *** by mail as promised.I need this *** to unfreeze my account so I can open a new account which my mortgage APR is going to be tied to. If I do not open the account, I am unable to get the point basis off my mortgage and this will be set for the next 30 years of the loan. This will cause considerable damage.I have recorded my calls for evidence that Chexsystems just makes consumers hold and transfers calls to people overseas whom make consumers hold longer and there is never any resolution.Business response

According to our records all previous requests from ******************** have been received via our website or fax and ChexSystems has no record of receiving a phone call from the consumer. Our records indicate that ******************** initially placed a security freeze on his consumer file through our website on October 13, 2021. A confirmation letter with his security freeze PIN was mailed to him. On April 1, 2022, ChexSystems received a request for a replacement PIN from ******************** that was submitted through our website. A letter was mailed to ******************** on the same day to provide him with a replacement PIN. The letter was mailed to the same address listed on Mr.Schulmans complaint. On April 11, 2022, ChexSystems received a faxed request from ******************** to have his security freeze removed. ChexSystems also received a request to remove the security freeze though our website on the same date.
