The complaint involved the termination of a lease with Skaff Apartment, LLC (*****, **). As terms of check out, tenant must have carpet professionally cleaned at their expense. In the termination letter sent by Skaff management, two cleaning companies were recommended, but indicted the transaction for services was contractual between the tenant and the company. Upon receiving the letter, I called and got a quote from both companies. ********, from Advanced Steam Pros, LLC **************************************************************, ************. **** quoted me $100 to clean my apartment. I was present when he and his team came in to start, however, I had to step out and notified **** ** be out for about 15 mins. He agreed. When I returned to my apartment there was an invoice for $165. That day and days and weeks thereafter, I called/texted **** to inquire about the higher fee and reconcile the **** but never got a response back. ************ apartment manager emailed me to say that theyd received an unpaid invoice from ****. I explain to her that ** tried reconciling the **** to no avail. She indicated that this was a contractual agreement between the company and myself and not with Skaff. When I received my deposit check Skaff Apartments had taken out the $165 and paid the invoice. Skaff has no authority to pay the other party as this agreement of service was between vendor and myself. It is evident of fraudulent practices as the vendor didnt try to reconcile invoice with me and knew the practices of Skaff Apartment to act as a third party and pay whatever fees presented to them by one of their recommended vendors. There is nowhere in my lease agreement that Skaff Apartment is authorized to pay a third party on my behalf/out of my deposit. Im requesting they cease this fraudulent practice and refund me the difference in the agreed upon price between the vendor and myself.
