I purchased a used car for $15k from Richfield Bloomington Honda in March of 2023. Car ran great, passed their inspection and tune up, and CARFAX didn't have anything concerning. I had an oil change with RBH in September of 2023 and their paperwork indicated all fluid levels were "good". Shortly after, the car started to make a rattling noise and the transmission started to slip. I brought my car into RBH to have them look at it and then they said I needed a brand-new transmission to fix the issue. The total estimate of this transmission was $8,400. Over half the price I paid, 9 months ago. When purchased from the dealership they assured me that the car was in GREAT condition from their diagnostics. I spoke to the manager about the transmission and they said that, this was their diagnostics and since I didn't purchase a warranty that it was on me. They also said, "I don't know how you drive the car" and was suggesting it was my fault. I also spoke to the guy who sold it to me, and he said that there was nothing that could be done and offered to buy back the car for $500. I refused to have them fix the issue because I knew they were trying to scam me for more money. I picked up my car and took it to a local mechanic and he told me that RBH first, never checked and filled the transmission fluid, it was empty and he needed to put 3 quarts of fluid in the transmission. RBH did state on my oil change receipt that the transmission fluid was in "good" levels. Then, my local mechanic stated that I just needed a new transmission gasket. He also told me that the gasket was replaced improperly before and there had been obvious transmission work done prior, which did not appear in the CARFAX. The total cost of this service was $322. I believe that RBH has caused more damage to my car due to their negligence in their presale inspection, oil change and if they were the ones to replace the gasket improperly. I do not recommend Richfield Bloomington Honda to anyone.

Hello, My dad was a loyal Honda customer for 35+ years. Service at the Richfield Bloomington Honda dealer used to be consistently good. Unfortunately I experienced this July that Honda is no longer focused on doing the right thing. Mom’s Honda Accord (car in her name after dad passed) was hit with catalytic convertor theft 10/2022; I managed servicing for my mom due to her dementia. Honda said they would store the car while waiting for parts to come in. Unfortunately, Honda was not forthcoming/transparent in telling me the car would be stored on the roof exposed to the elements; the car’s paint was damaged. Catalytic convertor repairs were completed 7/2023. Honda then quoted $8-$10k for paint repair, but did not take responsibility for the damage. The issue: the paint damage have been prevented had I been told by Honda about the roof storage plan. Had I been told, I would have stored the car in mom’s garage until parts came in. Honda has lost a customer, and added additional grief to our family. (mom also has now passed)

We were given a quote a total of $161 to flush the brake fluid on our Accord, and we agreed. But after they completed the work and time came to pay the bill, we noticed an additional fee of $24 for something called a “shop charge”, which was NEVER disclosed in advance, bringing the total to $194 with tax. We disagreed to pay this “shop charge”, but they would not give our keys back to us unless we paid the entire fee of $194. This is WRONG! We decided to pay the $194 and not deal with the hassle of taking an Uber back home, but we will be disputing the $24 “shop charge” with our credit card company. Please be aware that they will tack on undisclosed charges at settlement/payment, and you should protest them. Customers should not be bribed into either paying undisclosed charges, or take an Uber back home!

Good morning Carl, My name is Jason ******* and I’m the Service Director at Richfield Bloomington Honda. I received your Better Business Bureau concern today and I was trying to look up your visit but it must be under someone else’s name? I’d like to review this with you and see if we can help resolve this with you. Typically when we do work on anyone's vehicle we always quote parts and labor quotes and tell people plus tax and shop supplies. Shop supplies is an industry standard charge and is a percentage of the bill that would max out at 52.95. These are items that are not individually charged out on repair orders to keep costs lower amongst all customers. Some examples of these items are the paper protector mats used to keep your floormats clean and plastic seat covers to protect your seats, cleaners, gloves, disposal of chemicals and oils for environment, washer fluid and many more items that get used during your service. Please let me know when a good time to possibly connect with you and try to help you resolve this. Thank you, Jason

I bought a Chevy traverse June of 2020, not even 24 hours after I had the car I had issues with it and took it in to have it looked at. The water pump was bad. Ended up with another issue and spoke with a manager about them selling me a lemon car, he said it wouldn't be considered a lemon car because the issue has to be the same thing 3 times. I have had nothing but issues and things breaking within the engine area. The 1st year I had it, I feel like I was bringing the car in every couple months. My car is currently sitting there today as last week on 4/13/23 I dropped it off for yet another issue with it. The issue they found wasn't even the reason I took it in, but found out the power steering was leaking AGAIN after they fixed it in I believe 2021. I went to pick my car up today 4/18/23 as I got a call saying it was repaired. The guy that grabbed my car asked if my car always sounded off, I explained to him about the power steering thinking it was the slight noise I heard before when turning the wheel. He recommended I bring it back ASAP to have it looked at. I told him I'd drive it to see if it'd go away as he said it might be an air bubble in the line.I got in my vehicle and the sound was so bad and loud. I was embarrassed/ felt unsafe to drive home with it so I turned back around and dropped it right back off. How are you going to "fix" my car and it sound way worse than when I dropped it off! I feel like they won't own up to selling me a crappy car and just always say sorry at least you have a warranty on it so you don't have to pay for it.

I purchased a 2018 VW Tiguan in late November 2022. Within a few weeks of purchasing my car the check engine light came on. I called the Dealership and scheduled an appoitment to have it looked at. At this time they said there was an issue with the air flow, they addressed the issue. Within 2-3 weeks of receiving my car back, the check engine light was back on. I brought it back to the Dealership, they had an issue diagnosing the problem so it was sent to VW in Burnsville. I did not have my car from Jan 23 - Feb 24th. During this time there was very little to no communication. I would receive txt communication majority of the time. I was told the gaskets need to be replaced. I learned later that the gaskets were not replaced but instead they rebuilt my Turbo. I was not charged for this repair, I do have a powertrain warranty. My check engine light came on for a 3rd time within 4 months. They are now saying the gaskets need to be replaced, which they knew back in January and failed to do. They are stating my warranty will not cover this and are trying to charge me $3200 for repairs. I have asked that they put me in a new car, as I was sold a Lemon! They said they would give me $16k for tradein, but that doesn't cover my loan. I would have to roll almost $4k into a new loan. This is unacceptable. I was sold a broke car even if it was "as is." There were issues that were not addressed before it was sold.

They are not a company you can count on. I bought a car in December and two weeks later the car had problems so I took it in to get service and I had to pay for some of the repairs and I got the gap insurance and they told everything was fixed and the same day the check engine light came on and I took it back in and they told me the engine was shot it had metal shavings in the oil and the engine had to be replaced and this was one month in buying the car and they replaced it and was trying to charge me me for some of its repair so they told me they will pay for most of it besides what the gap insurance didn’t pay and I had to pay the remaining amount which was $980 so I payed that and two about two weeks later more problems with the car so far I paid $1200 plus on repairs and on top of that I had to make car payment on top of that. I ask them to put us in a newer car and they said they couldn’t and also the people at the dealership said they missed that problem with the engine being no good.
