    Business Response

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out and we're sorry to hear about trouble with your claim!

Just as some additional context for you, Upsie declared bankruptcy in the fall of 2023. Upsie used to act as a sort of broker/affiliate of ********** to sell the extended warranty protection plans you purchased. If you search your email or mail for records of a service contract delivered from **********, you'll see the terms "Administrator" and "Obligor" listed. Both of these entities would be the ones to take care of your claim. Upsie was never an administrator in the equation, so while they promoted and sold service contracts provided by **********, they actually had no control in actually getting claims handled.

When AKKO in January of 2024 acquired Upsie's assets, which included their website and brand, coverage resumed Upsie's former monthly subscription plans, but not their one-time purchase warranties. In this case, you purchased a one-time cost warranty and do not have an active monthly subscription protection plan.

So, your next step here would be to search your email inbox for an email from Centricity or Fortegra, who would have transferred ownership of your warranty coverage plan after Upsie closed. Whichever one of them is in your inbox, you can reach out to them for help on this issue!

    Thank you.

When Upsie notified me that they were closing down I obtained another insurance coverage for my phone. This was on November 15, 3023. Then in January a charge appeared on my credit card for $9.99 on January 25, 2024 from Upsie that is no longer in business. This happened again in February, March and April. I contacted my credit card company and they heve placed the total amount in dispute and blocked any future charges.

BBB NOTE: Complaint previously closed 'Unanswered' 1/9/24 when no response from business. Business subsequently contacted BBB April 2024 about previously unanswered complaints and provided following response:

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us and we're so sorry for any confusion here.

In December of 2023, Upsie went bankrupt and the underwriters that backed their plans, either Fortegra or Centricity emailed all customers who filed claims prior to January 1st, 2024, letting them know that their account and plans will be handled by themselves instead of by Upsie.

As such, we recommend searching your inbox for the keywords either, "Fortegra" or "Centricity" to find out the backer of your plan and where you will contact them for assistance regarding your claim. From there, they will direct you to provide any necessary information to resume your claims experience.

Any questions regarding your claim will also be answered by the above party.

Upsie appears to have gone out of business. I have a handful of plans with the company. Unfortunately, I am unable to file a claim or cancel any plans. No response from the company via email. No response via their advertise phone number. I would like to cancel all of my plans and get a full refund on each one of them.

I bought an UPSIE warranty - took my laptop to the repair shop who stated they are unable to repair it as the *** ports need soldered and a whole new motherboard since fan 1 quit working. No damage to the system at all other than wear and tear. Spoke with ****** today 12/6/2023 who stated that I will hear back by tomorrow 12/7. I sent in the quote from UBREAKIFIX located in ***********, ** on 12/1. I am currently a student and I need a functional laptop - with a fan that does not work and the laptop wants to overheat I cannot do my classes. Notes online show that UPSIE is no longer in business and is denying all claims. I just want UPSIE to honor the warranty I paid for when I bought my laptop.

I have purchased various appliance and cell phone insurance policies through UPSIE. I have tried filing a claim on one of my cell phones I have covered. No one will answer their phones, reply to an email inquiry or accept my repair request. I have a lot of money paid to this company for various policies. Is this company still in business and if so, how do I reach someone. I have tried calling many times and their phones are disconnected and no one answers email.
