In May of 2022, we accepted a bid from ****** Construction to replace an existing deck and sliding glass door, after checking references and being assured of insurance, license, and being informed of registration with the state and an EIN number. We paid the %60 percent deposit ($2,938.63), and after the check was deposited work was scheduled to start on Jule 21st. The actual first day of delayed for various reasons, but did start by the end of the month. The old deck was removed and footing poured (July 27th and 28th). On August 5th work was again delayed for different reasons, including an injury that would prevent any work from being done for 6-8 weeks. The email notifying us of this was an offer to either refund our deposit or deduct 10% of the final price. At first, we accepted the deduction, but then ten days later notified ****** we would have another contract finish the deck. On October 15th I began asking if the sliding door replacement was still an option. On Wednesday, November 9th we learned the owner's residence has been burglarized and they were working with the police. ****** agreed they would repay the deposit during this conversation, and said they would be in contact at the end of the week when they returned to town. We have since tried to reach ****** via phone and email for several months, including leaving multiple voicemails, and have had no success. We have had no contact from ****** since November 9th.

While I was out of town working a few months ago, my door was kicked in and I was robbed.  They took everything from me.  All of my cash and checks.  I have notified the consumer about.  We have lost our place to live.  I am waiting to be repaid for all of the items I lost.  I would be more than happy to reimburse her as soon as I got reimbursed for my home robbery.  The court case is on file.  This is out of my hands.

    Complaint: ********

We are rejecting this response.  We are still awaiting monies from Mr. ******, not promises.  We are coming up on almost a year since our last contact with Mr. ****** when he told us he would be repaying the deposit, but never followed through.  We have nothing to add to this claim, as there has been no communication between ourselves and Mr. ****** beyond this BBB complaint and our claim with the Attorney General's office.

    Sincerely,

    ***** and **** ****

We contracted with Abbott Construction to remodel two bathrooms in our home. We gave him a $4,205 deposit. He failed to show up or contact us until after numerous contacts by us. He gave excuse after excuse for not doing the project and then not returning our deposit. We would like to have the $4,205 returned as soon as possible. Our contact was mostly through ******** Messenger and he has now closed his account.

My home was burglarized, we lost everything. I have to completely rebuild my home and my business. I have no money to refund at this time, but will work out a payment plan as soon as I can get back to work. I will have my attorney draw up a payment plan to settle the refund with the consumer by the first of the year.
