I called and left voicemails with the service department for months, and never received any calls back. When we had our last significant cold spell my window cracked all the way across and I called to see if I could get it replaced as I paid for a warranty and was told that I would have a free windshield replacement. Not a single person with the business has given me the time of day. I spent nearly $4k on a warranty on top of the price of the car, I would expect that I would have service on my vehicle or my money refunded if they werent going to do the work.Business Response

I was having issues with my truck and took it into this dealership. I was told I need two batteries and they charged me almost a $1,000 for two batteries. I finally get a call that my truck is ready and they then hang up on me. I picked it up and made it not even 30 minutes down the road when the truck broke down again. I brought it home and have been trying to get a hold of the service department but they do not answer the phone.Business Response
Date: 06/03/2024
Please be advised that the dealership has contacted the customer twice with no answer. He came in to clear up his invoice, which we did. He has taken the truck to another dealership. The only thing that was recommended for service was two batteries. The customer approved the price. The dealership is willing to work with the customer to resolve the issues.Initial Complaint

I purchased a 2024 jeep Compass Trailhawk on or about March 22,2024. I asked when my payment would be due and I was told 45 days by both the salesman and the finance person. I told them that would be perfect because that would give me time to pay the sales tax before I had to make a payment. I started receiving calls from the lender stating that I had a payment due on April 21,2024. I called and texted the salesman back to confirm what I was told about 45 days and he confirmed. The financial officer also knew it was to be 45 days. However, when he wrote the contract, he listed *************************** that they would have to write up a new contract. I told them to write up a new contract and I would sign it. I was then told that that it couldnt be done and I would have to make a payment first. I explained to them that that was the problem since I just had to pay my sales tax. On top of all of this, my car has had multiple issues and is now going to have to be put in the shop and I havent even made a payment yet! Broken vent, service transmission light on, screen going blank while driving down the road, leaking seal on drivers side front door.Customer Answer

This dealership has been asked to remove me from all marketing as we came to a legally binding agreement that they would not longer contact me, and I would no longer do business with them due to mistakes and bad business practices they used. They have repeatedly called, emailed, and sent snail mail to me, and I have requested their staff and GM ******************* remove me multiple times after our legal agreement was made. They have ignored me entirely.Business Response

Machens and I have an agreement for no contact. I have been emailed, called, texted, and snail mailed from this business despite this. I have unsubscribed, called to ask my information be removed, and emailed *******************, the dealership manager. I recently submitted a BBB complaint against them for this same issue and they replied stating they had removed me from their systems and yet I am still getting contacted. This will be my last request for them to stop contacting me before I am forced to seek legal action.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
This is the second time I have had to request this through the BBB. Prior to that I contacted the *** a sales associate, emailed the company, and submitted a request via the online chat. All of that was AFTER our legal agreement of no contact. I will need proof of deletion as your company has a proven track record of not being trustworthy. Any additional attempts to contact me will result in me filing a harassment case.

I dropped my truck off for check engine light back in December 2023. I specifically told them the diagnoses and what needed to be done to repair the truck. (I work for the engine company of the truck and have detailed expertise in repair) they ignored my complaint and only tried to bandaid the problem. After 2 months they gave me my truck back without fixing the issue. I expressed that this was going to cause major issues without being repaired. They ignored my plea and told me there wouldnt be any issues. Not even a couple days after getting it back another check engine light and more problems. They have now had the truck for another 3 weeks and cant find the time to repair.. they have expressed they will only do one repair as they did their repairs prior to this recent issue. Unfortunately, that isnt how this repair works. This is progressive damage due to them not completing all the repairs in the beginning and this recent issue will have ruined the work done before.Business Response

A.) As Stated from the dealership, windshield is still not fixed. I will not accept response until it is corrected as their word has not been followed up in the past.B.) Repairs are not fixed. The *** sensor is full again do to negligence of not replacing after the turbo failed. This Sensor will fail due to this and will require what should be a warranty failure to become non warrantable.

On August 19th 2023 I went into the Joe Machens Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram dealership located off a **** ******** ***** ******** ** ***** to purchase my forever car that I have been wanting for a very long time. This was supposed to be a happy occasion and something that was supposed to be very meaningful to my heart and very me**rable. It was me**rable. It has caused me a lot of pain. I have trauma, and I had to take off time from work. I even felt buyer’s re**rse not because I purchased the vehicle of my dreams, but due to how I was treated by certain gentlemen at the establishment. They made me feel like I shouldn't have done this in the first place, At first, when I spoke to our sales person, Carson Fewel, about being interested in the 2020 silver Jeep Gladiator that they had on their lot, I was thinking about using my 2011 Dodge Ram Laramie Edition as a trade-in. Due to my credit not being perfect, they advised me that even with the trade-in, my payments would still be about $750 per **nth. I advised them that I did have my **ther as a back-up, because she has a credit score of 860, and that she would be happy to co-sign for me, to buy my dream car. I brought my **m to the dealership, and then we talked to **** ******* who is the general sales manager. They told us that the price of the vehicle was $36,386.00, and that with the trade and for the Dodge Ram. Plus, they told us that they were having a Jeep Sale Event that weekend only, and that they were able to get the price of the Jeep Gladiator down to $28,000. Sounded like a good deal to me, we said: “yes let's do it.” When we went to the financial manager, ***, he started explaining the contract and everything. We started to sign the paperwork, and then advised that there was no gap insurance, we advised we wanted gap insurance. He told us with the gap insurance, that this was going to raise my payment app to $780 a **nth. At that **ment my **m told them, that she would put 5 Grand down to lower the **nthly payments, to make it **re reasonable for me. *** advised us that we can do that, and made the adjustment. Something wasn't sitting too right with me, I just felt unsure. Something just didn't feel right about the deal. Right at that **ment, I told *** to stop and that I would need to think about this and that I would be back on **nday **rning to discuss this further, since it was Saturday and they would be closed on Sunday. *** put blank pieces of paper in front of us and asked us to both sign our name to it to show that we will be coming back on **nday. Of course, we refused to signing a blank piece of paper. At that **ment, my **ther and I got up and we left. On **nday the 19th of August, went back to Joe Machens dealership, and we told **** and ***, that we decided that we were going to take the Dodge as a trade in off the table, that we did not want to trade-in the Dodge and that we were going to put $10,000 down and just go through financing with them. At that **ment **** ******* advised us, that the deal with the Dodge truck as a trade-in is done. So, if we didn’t take this deal with the Dodge truck as a trade-in, he cannot sell this Jeep Gladiator to us. Point blank. Period. Of course, my **ther and I were confused about this. We just advised, we had $10000 in cash, and wanted to do in-house financing with the Jeep Dealership. And, we wanted to take the trade-in and off the table and he was refusing that offer. Kodi, the general sales manager said, yes if we do not get the Dodge truck as a trade-in, you don't have a deal. My **m and I walked outside, and we conversated between ourselves, and we called the Missouri Credit Union, where we bank and, talked to **** ********, our banker, about getting a loan, so we could purchase my dream jeep. He advised that we needed to get a purchase order, so that he knew how much to write the cashier’s check for. We went back to Dodge Jeep and Ram Dealership to **** *******, and advised him that we are just buying the Jeep outright and asked for a purchase order, or a sales order. He printed out a sales order that showed the price of the Jeep for $36,935.00. I then asked **** if we would get a sales break, because we paying in full with a cashier’s check. He said once again, since we didn't take his offer with the trade-in, there is no discount for you. The price of the Jeep is what it is, and that's what you will pay if you do not finance through us, and give us your Dodge as a trade-in. We took the sales order slip back to our bank, received the check for $36,935.00. We then took that check back to Joe Machens, and handed them the check. We sat there for an hour and a half, thinking that we were waiting for our title, and other paperwork, such as the odometer verification, inspection slip etc. to complete our sale. When nobody came to us with this paperwork,I caught **** and asked him if we were done, and where was our paperwork was to complete the sale. He said you are done. We don't have the title at the **ment. You will receive it in 3-4 days by *****. I asked him where the odometer reading was, and I asked him where the inspection paperwork was. He told me the inspection paperwork is in the glove box, and as far as any other paperwork that you will need you will receive it with your title in 3 to 4 days by *****. Then I asked, what about my temp tag? He said, you already have it. I told him, no, I do not, there is not a temp. tag on the Jeep. So then another 45 minutes went by, and we finally got our temp. tag and we left. Now when we took the Jeep for a test ***** before we decided to purchase, it the stereo cut off on us. The sales rep., Carson advised us that there were issues with the stereo, that sometimes a Jeep stereo overheats because the sun is beaming on the speakers. That there was a safety device that turns the stereo off automatically. This was a lie a**ngst a lot of lies that they told us and I can get into **re details about them if need be. The radio stopped working again, I called Carson the sales rep., and advised the radio stopped again. He told me to bring the car back in, and he will have it fixed. So that is what I did. We brought the car back. They took us to the shop where **** *****, the service manager, asked us what was going on with the radio. We told him. He also advised that when the stereo overheats, it automatically shuts off. I asked him, if that is the case, then why do **torcycles have radios that play in the heat, or boat radios, for that matter that it does not make sense to us at that point. **** *******, the general Sales manager came to us, and told us that, while looking at the vehicle they have noticed that this vehicle needs thousands of dollars in repairs, to get it up to par. And, our only option was, to render the vehicle back to them. And, he would get us into a brand new 2024 Jeep Gladiator that he promises would have no issues. I asked, if I could see the work order that was done on the Jeep, because he told me that they did run a diagnostics test on it. He declined to show me any further paperwork on this Jeep. Once again he repeated the only option was for me to surrender the Jeep, and for him to get us into a brand new Jeep Gladiator. I then stated that something does not feel right here, and that I was going get a hold of my banker, and that I needed a minute. I called my banker and told him what was going on. Of course, he advised that there is misrepresentation and unfair practices that are obviously happening and that he is going to contact his lawyer, and we can pursue further measures that way. I told **** that we needed a **ment to think and that we were going to get something to eat, and make our decision. We would be back later. He said that's fine. I asked if he still had the check for the $36,935.00 that we gave to him 2 days ago when we bought the Jeep outright. He said no that check was already in the bank. He would have to refund for us, but that could take up to 15 to 30 days for our bank to receive the refund check. At that **ment, we then left, went to our banker at the Missouri credit union and talked to him and let him know what was going on. He said, that he would get his lawyers ready because there was once again unfair practices misrepresentation and corruption that was obviously going on. He also advised that we can cancel the check through him, of course, we would have to surrender the vehicle back to Joe Machens. Then we could look for a different vehicle on some other lot, but it was completely up to us. On September 1st I decided to take my Jeep to Boonville to the Dodge Jeep and Ram Dealership there. I had them run diagnostics check on the Jeep just to see what the thousands of dollars of damage would be, as advised by **** *******. I have paperwork to show for proof. The service manager Scott Wilson, and the service adviser, ****** ******, both advised me that there was nothing severely wrong with the Jeep Gladiator. Only the codes that popped up it, was the stereo because it had a 8 inch screen instead of the original manufacturer’s 5 inch screen. At this point we knew that we were getting lied to, because we didn't take their deal in the beginning with the trade-in for the Dodge to get the Jeep. They wanted to take that Jeep back and no longer have to deal with us. We decided to keep the Jeep because I love this Jeep, this is my color, and it was my dream Jeep. It is now September the 18th. My temp. tags expired on September 17th. We still have not received our title. We still have not received our sales paperwork. We still have not received the odometer reading paperwork a**ngst all the other paperwork that you should receive when you have purchased a vehicle. I am filing complaints with a lot of organizations including the Better Business Bureau the FCA as well as taking further action with my lawyer. I want this situation to be resolved, and for me to be able to **ve on and have a good peace of mind, and be able to enjoy my Jeep like I should have been able to enjoy my dream Jeep the day that I went in to Joe Machens dealership to purchase it. I would like $10,000.00 for retribution, and the mental abuse and trauma that I have suffered. The unfair practice, the false promises, and the lies that this company has put me through, as well as now filing a complaint with the ***, I am now driving around on expired temp. tags, still waiting to receive my paperwork so that I can get my vehicle licensed and registered in my name, are causing me great anxieties and mental distress. Any tickets fees or anything that has to do with penalties due to having expired temp, tags, I want this company to be held accountable and responsible for. I would also like to have this company pay for my vehicle licensing and sales taxes.Business Response

Please be advised that this customer did come to the dealership to purchase a Gladiator. The dealership worked numbers on the vehicle and came to an agreement with her **ther signing on the deal, a trade of her Ram 1500, and a $5,000.00 down payment.
The deal went forward without the trade in. However, subsequent to the transaction, some work was done on the vehicle outside of the dealership, which created some means for repair. The dealership is not certain who performed the work, but it was not done at the dealership.
The dealership offered to back ******* out of the deal and put her into a different vehicle. Please let us know if you need further information. We are awaiting the duplicate title. It looks like the Missouri Credit Union filed their lien before the duplicate title could print, which puts it on hold with the ***. It should be resolved shortly.

It's been 11 months and I still don't have a fully drivable car. They originally sold me a car ($21,249 sales price) an employee wrecked and didn't disclose. I paid for some of the repairs due to the wreck caused by an employee of Machens, but they are refusing to refund me. They sold me another car, put 4 new tires on it, installed 3 of them incorrectly so they leaked. They lost my loan documents 4 times and I had to come back in to sign each time. They told me an SUV going 75 mph might "be too fast for that car." They told me that a hard shifting transmission was normal. The GM told me driving with worn motor mounts was completely safe, and wouldn't damage the vehicle in any way. They threw away my keychains, including a tracking device, in the trash can of the business next door AFTER I requested they return them, with their location being pinged in the shop. They have made at least 5 separate attempts to resolve the vehicle vibration, each time telling me it was fixed and having me pick up the vehicle. They gave me 4 different loaner vehicles that I had to return due to major mechanical issues. They won't refund my extended warranty, even though I have asked for it since December of 2022 in writing to the GM. They gave me a loaner vehicle on a Friday at 5 minutes before they closed that had the low fuel indicator on. I had to put $80 into it and had to return it full or face a penalty. They resold the wrecked car as a certified pre-owned, no wrecks to another customer. That car had 2 bent axels, 4 tires with separated treads, and 4 bent rims according to their shop.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I am awaiting the estimated cost of repair on the vehicle, as well as an estimated cost for a full size SUV rental for the time I will be without a vehicle. Machens has taken months to respond to me, and outright ignored my emails requesting follow up with them due to their GM being let go. This response was given after a week, and a $500 offer for unknown repairs, which is insufficient given the list of repairs they already attempted. Once I have obtained the information critical to knowing the costs of repairs, my attorney will respond.

On 12/21/22 I took delivery of a new Jeep Grand Cherokee L from Joe Machen's CDJR. The car was delivered to me at work and I signed the sales agreement. A week later I received the title for the car to get it licensed. Then on 1/9/23 I was contacted by *******, the sales rep handling the purchase, telling me that I needed to sign a new contract. I told him I was in the hospital and he said he would be contacting me the next day to get it handled. That never happened. On 1/25/2023 I was contacted by ****** from Joe Machen's telling me that the lender needed a copy of my license to complete the financing. I emailed him a copy of my license and never heard anything back until 1/31/2023 at which time he told me that I needed to come to the dealership to complete the financing or they were going to have to "unwind the deal". I explained to ****** that I have a ridiculous work schedule and I was not able to make it to the dealership until 2/9/2023. I told ****** that I could send him another copy of my license and offered more money as a down payment. He responded by giving me my down payment back and telling me that I could not leave with the car but said that everything would be resubmitted to get the approval. I sent him my license through text message and through email and he continued to claim that he never received it. However, ******* asked me to send it to him and he received it with no problem. From that point until now, the only person that was kind enough to even acknowledge me was the gentleman who had to shuttle me home since apparently I no longer had a car. As a result of my credit application being sent to different finance companies, my credit score has taken a major hit and now I can't get approved for a car loan. They also have relisted the car I purchased and drove for almost 2 months as "new" which seems a little dishonest. I trusted these people and have been left worse off than before I ever contacted them.Business Response

My husband and I purchased a vehicle from this establishment on January 12, 2023. We had searched high and low to make sure we were getting what we wanted. We finally made the choice to go with Joe Machens Chrysler, Doge. And Jeep dealer in Columbia. This was the biggest mistake ever. We made the trip 3 hours away to purchase a jeep wrangler rubicon recon. We even scheduled a week in advance with the salesman. Once we arrived we were told we would have to wait because he was with another customer. Understandably we waited for about 15 minutes before we asked to test drive it and had to wait another 15 minutes. We were rushed through this entire process after the test drive. Asked multiple times different questions to ensure we were getting the vehicle we wanted. The jeep was listed with 410 gears. There are stickers on the jeep as well indicating such. The salesman, *********, confirmed the jeep is in fact running 410’s. We paid $37,000 for the vehicle. After we purchased the vehicle they said they could not give us the second set of keys until they make sure the paperwork is correct. So, that was aggravating. So finally it’s purchased and we make it home with the jeep. My husband buys tires and rims for the jeep to make it his and a 2.5 in lift. Once he starting adding the lift did we find out it already came with a 2 in. Lift and the gears were not the 410 as described, explained, and confirmed with the salesman. The whole reason we wanted the jeep rubicon was for the 410 gears. We would’ve NEVER spent our money on a jeep that didn’t. My husband called the salesman that sold us the jeep again and he said it did. We explained it didn’t and wanted them to make it right since they told he told us it did. We were told they would not help us. We didn’t want the jeep and asked them to take it back and again we were told no. This is the worst car buying experience we have ever had. We’ve never been treated so poorly and looked down on than we have been with this company.Business Response

Please be advised that the dealership has been in communication with the customer offering to trade them out of the vehicle and paying them full price for the Jeep that they purchased.
The dealership believes that they met the requirements of what was asked of them by the customer and that the customer did not mention 4.10 gears as a must have for this vehicle.
The dealership is trying to rectify the misunderstanding. Please call if you need further information.
