The siding installation has failed and is falling off our house. The siding has wrinkled, warped, and pulled away from the house (pieces are falling off in several different ************ was installed Fall 2019 and we started noticing it was pulling away from the house 2023. We attempted to get it corrected and the company advised that it was not their issue. We have had other people look at the problem, and they have stated that this is an INSTALL issue! The siding was not installed properly and is now falling off with even the slightest breeze! There has not been any harsh weather to cause this issue and this is happening in more than one side of the house. After several attempts and phone calls to get them to fix the siding we are finally filing a complaint. The fix to this issue would most likely be a combination of repair and replacement. Because of their lack of urgency to this matter many pieces of the siding are no longer usable and the siding that still remains in tact has been distorted. The entire siding job is not withstanding what the company advertises on social media and on their website.Business Response

The settling of the new construction home is causing the sheathing to bow out. The vinyl siding material is installed on top of the sheathing. The customer's builder warranty is expired, so we are working directly with the homeowner to replace some of the siding that is impacted by this issue. We appreciate the opportunity to help problem solve any issues with our customers.Initial Complaint

I feel this is more about ethics and an additional way for them to get you to pay more.I had leaking of skylight repaired and in the process they broke the seals. They of course denied it and sent a picture undated, not time stamped. All the roofs in my development are the same. The skylight glass is way worse after the repair. In addition, if they were in bad shape the time to replace should have been addressed before starting the job instead of after gauging me out of more money. When discussed with *****, he was rude, patronizing and condescending. They did tell me how much it would cost to replace after the repair was made which sequence wise doesnt make sense. I was also told they had 2 men out when in fact there was only one. Why would I believe them.Business Response

Your satisfaction is a priority. As you mentioned, it sounds like the repair we completed solved your leaking issue. When we completed the work last year, we did not recommend a replacement because we determined the skylights to be in good condition. If an issue has developed, we can certainly evaluate the current issue and work with you to resolve. We appreciate you reaching out and look forward to improving this experience. We apologize for the interaction with our team member and will address that seperately as that does not reflect our expectations.Customer Answer

This is how they left the job. The skylights were clear before they started. You can see by the suction cups they pulled the skylights out breaking the seal. Order of operations, if the skylights were not in good shape they would or should have said something, instead of trying to sell me skylights after finishing the job. They just keep denying all responsibility.Customer Answer

Ms *****,
We would be happy to discuss a replacement with you. As discussed, we repaired the improperly installed flashing to prevent further leaking. There was no damage to the skylight window when we completed the work greater than 1 year ago, as illustrated in the pictures we shared. We agree with you and would have recommended a replacement at the time if these issues existed. We can certainly offer a very competitive quote and convenience discount to help. We have also discussed with your HOA and fully understand the history. We will reach out to discuss next steps and coordinate with you and the HOA.

They are not really solving the problem.
nice that they may clean windows, but they charged for repairing the leak, which they did do, but in doing so created other issues. They solved one problem but created another increasing the cost. By their own admission the windows were clear and I have shown in pictures immediately following the job they were not. They were contacted after the job and ***** was less than helpful, making rediculous analogies. I'm tired of them gaslighting me about the skylights when fact I know what they looked like before the work. If you hire them I highly suggest taking before pictures.

My mom had a roof leak that was causing ceiling drywall damage. Allen roofing came out and did an estimate and promised to do the work. My mom signed the estimate. They didnt make any temporary fixes, like a tarp for example, to at least stop the leak until a more permanent solution could be made. Many weeks went by and they failed to show up. The estimator didnt answer calls and did not return our calls. The ceiling damage got much worse and needed extensive repairs. Finally we got someone else to do the work. It was a simple gasket around an exhaust pipe gasket that was fixed very quickly. After all of this Allen Roofing had the audacity to send my 89 year old mom a bill for the work they never did and actively avoided!I called and spoke with the owner who apologized and said he would correct the situation and for us not to pay the bill. This is bad enough, and I was going to let this go until today when we got a second bill!We need help because I feel this is a predatory business trying to take advantage of my 89 year old mother. Frankly, I feel they owe her reimbursement for the interior ceiling repairs because of their lack of repairs. At this point.Business Response

We understand your frustration. The invoice was voided, communicated to the homeowner, and updated internally. There is no outsanding invoice. We understand the urgency. Our team is in high demand this year with the storm activity. We are actively working with all of our customers as quickly as we can.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
Thank you for your help!I have reviewed the business' response regarding complaint ID ******** and am satisfied enough with this resolution to put it to bed.
We achieved our objective of getting, in writing, that my mom does not owe them money for work they did not perform (despite an invoice and a statement that she does owe).
The lack of response from their estimator to multiple calls from my mom, my wife, and me wasnt adequately explained but that is what it is. Ive been busy too but can always find 5 minutes to get back with someone.
My mom paid another, very good, contractor $6,250 to repair the damage to her ceiling. But that too is what it is.
BBB thanks again.
Sincerely,

I had a ******* home built in 2016. Since 2017 I have had shingles blow off on a regular basis. I contacted Allen Roofing the first 2 years and they repaired, but then told me they were liable anymore and I would have to pay. In the past 6 months I have had shingles blow off on a regular basis. I had an independent roofer come out and he said that the installation of the shingles were the worst he had ever seen. I have turned this into to insurance and they also said the shingles were installed improperly. At the request of Allen Roofing I filed a claim with the shingle manufacturer and they responded with a letter stating that the shingles were installed incorrectly. I have tons of pictures. Ive spoken to at least 7 different people with Allen. 2 of them verbally told me that I was going to get a new roof. I have a 7 year old home that is destroyed. I want my roof replaced and installed correctly. I have tons of pictures of their poor workmanship.Business Response

Attached is the letter from IKO (the roofing manufacturer) stating that the shingles were installed incorrectly. Also attached is a January 2023 picture of the first of the 6-7 shingles I have lost this year. The last picture is a picture after Allen Roofing put on a partial tarp. They requested that I file a claim with e State Farm. State Farm said that the shingles failed due to improper installation. Allen requested that I once again open the insurance claim and I received a call back yesterday from State Farm and they stated that Allen Roofing cant produce any picture that support an insurance claim and that they were closing the claim. I am not looking for a cheap repair. I have a 7 year old home and they have been aware of my problems and charged $331 in March for a repair. A week later they were out doing another repair. I am not the only house in this subdivision, but I am the only one with consistent shingle problems. I have had a third party come out and look at the roof. ************************* from ******** Roofing contacted ******************* and told **** that in his professional opinion this roof has failed due to incorrect installation. I do. Not want a repair. I want a full replacement. My home would not appraise out because of the poor workmanship. I have 3 independent people all saying that it is poor installation and yet Allen just says its wind damage. I purchased a 30 year shingle from ******* and Allen has drug their feet ever since. I have pages upon pages of texts and emails to them showing that I have tried in good faith to get this issue resolved. The only solution to this is a full replacement or a check so that I may hire someone of my own that I trust to replace the roof. Allen sent me a message yesterday that someone would be out to survey the roof and then would write up a proposal. The only acceptable proposal is a check or a full replacement of the shingles of my choice. This needs to be completed within 30 days before I end up with more damage.Business Response

We appreciate your concern. Having multiple roofing companies repair your roof improperly, especially with one of these companies installing a shingle from another manufacturer, can create further complications. You have also experienced wind damage. Your warranty is through the homebuilder. However, we have offered to fully inspect and make proper repairs. We remain committed to helping you gain comfort in your roof after addressing these issues.Customer Answer

I am not willing to accept or reject until I have something in writing. This has been going on for years and youve had a multitude of people on my roof yet you still cant put anything together in writing. Its been nothing but conversations that have gone no where with *******************, *************************, ***************** and ******************************* Once I have a concrete proposal of what your intentions are, I will consider it. I paid you $331 in March and you tried to get another $1400 out me in August. So you wonder why I have other people come out. No one else has charged me because they feel so bad that I am going through this. And each one of them stated that the shingles had been poorly installed. I have attached emails from ******* from both 2017 and 2019 regarding shingles that had blown off and also the proposal from March and August of this year.Customer Answer
Date: 10/05/2023
Attached are pictures from the back of the roof of my home. You can see that the shingles are damaged and that is not normal wear and tear. The shingles have a 120 MPH rating and yet these shingles dont get any wind damage. Additionally as you speak about other roofers, please be aware that the Certainteed shingles that others have repaired are actually still on the roof, so obviously they are NOT the problem. ******************* told me that part of the reason that they hadnt been out to do the repairs is because Allen no longer carries IKO. Would you like for me to include IKO in this? I have no problem filing complaints with both ******* and IKO. You point fingers at *******. I contacted *******. They have specifically stated that Allen Roofing bears responsibility. Please agree to a new roof or the cost of the new roof. Please stop insulting my intelligence with your finger pointing when I have letters, emails, pictures and other professionals, including State Farm, tell me that I my problem is incorrect installation. Shingles that are nailed in the hem should have sealed when they were installed in March of 2016 and this has never happened since they have blown off continuously since the roof was installed.Business Response

Facct #1. I purchased a 30 year architectural shingle through ******* at the time I signed a contract in 20**. The roof was installed by Allen H343433383735343**7H iin March of 20**. I had no say in the roofer or the shingles. (20**)
Fact #2. ******* specifically H3639303**339373539Hs that the roof is Allen H343433383735343**7Hs responsibility after the first year, but they indeed covered it through 2019 and I had multiple problem prior to that time that are in the attachments. (2019)
Fact #3. There are numerous repairs as noted by Allen by others that are not IKO shingles Those shingles are Certainteed that match my house and were part of th addition I did to cover my back deck in 2020. The match was perfect. The construction was led by *********************** of ****** Construcxtion of OFallon IL. I saved a few shingles from that additions. (2020-2023) Those repairs were in 2020 and 2021. Both repairs are still on the roof or else Allen wouldnt know this. They have not blown off. *********************** had his crew come out and replace 2 shingles during that time.
Fact #4 In March after my previous roofer passed away from the repair in January of 2023 (pictures have been attached of this incident), Allen billed me $331 for the repair of one shingle that does not match the rest of my roof. This repair is on the opposite side of the dormer in the front bedroom of the house (2023)
Fact #5 at the request of ******************* I turned in a claim through your company to IKO. He H3639303**339373539Hs that IKO shingles arent good and that they no longer use them, but he thought that perhaps I would have a claim since there was obvious damage all over the roof although he has personally never been there. (4/2023)
Facxt #6 I send the shingles in with the information that Allen provides me. They removed the damaged shingles and left with them. I had to call them and ask them to return them to me since I was responsible for mailing them in along with the claim form that Allen assisted in (4?2023)
Fact #7 *** responded with a letter stating that the shingles were improperly nailed. (7/2023)
Fact #8 I have more shingles blow off and Allen replaces them with mismatched shingles. When I asked ******************* about IKO denying the claim he said specifically we took good shingles off the roof to send in to them as we would not want to send in the ones that were improperly nailed and blew off Yet that is precisely what they did. The only shingles they replaces are the mismatched color on the right side of the dormer in the bedroom (7/2023)) I have all of these pictures.
Fact #9 At the request of ******************* I turned in an insurance claim to State Farm and they approved $500 in damage to the roof stating that the roof was improperly installed, but they would approve $500 in damage towards my deductible. (8/2023.
Fact #** Allen tried to get me to accept a repair for approximately $**00 submitted by *************************. (7/2023)
Fact #** I asked a third party roofer to give me his opinion. After I told ******************* what ************************* told me he called ******************* and told him specifically that the roof was not installed correctly and that regardless of wind speeds the roof I purchased should have withheld and that *** had proof that it was not. (8/2023)
Fact #** Allen still doesnt respond and the third party comes and complete the repairs at no cost (8/2023)
Fact #** After I gave a bad review on FB regarding Allen I received a call from ******. He H3639303**339373539Hd that it is the job of insurance companies and shingle companies to blame the roofer for problem and that any third party just wanted my business. (9/2023)
Fact #** ****** asked me to reopen the case with State Farm. I did. Then ***************** fron Allen H343433383735343**7H came out on 9/28 to take pictures for me to provide to State Farm. When he came down from the roof he said that he did not have any pictures and that the roof was a mess up there. (9/2023)
Fact #** ***************** from Allen H343433383735343**7H comes out on 9/28/23) he H3639303**339373539Hs that there are no pictures to take to turn into insurance. He H3639303**339373539Hs that it is a mess up there. He H3639303**339373539Hs that they will get together to come up with a plan and be in touch the following week.
Fact #** ****** called me and said that there were no pictures and as far as he was concerned I didnt have water in my house and that rain was being shed. He told me perhaps I needed to hire an attorney because there was no liability on Allens part. (**/2023)
Fafct #** I filed a complaint with H363**73932383**831H after this and within an hour he sends me a message after I have notified Allen H343433383735343**7H that I will not deal with ****** anymore that they are willing to send someone out to take a look and give me a proposal. (**/2023)
Fact #** I have provided H363**73932383**831H everything necessary to prove the Allen is liable for improper installation.
In conclusion, I do not want repairs to my 7 year old home. It needs to appraise out at full value not minus the cost of a new roof. I need comfort in knowing that after 7 years this is no longer a concern to me. I paid for a 30 year warranty. I dont care if its *******, Allen or IKO that provides this, but it needs a total replacement and I was told that by both ******************* and ************************* of Allen H343433383735343**7H. ****** told me that *************************** was the best in arguing insurance claims. Yet here I am. There is no correction of this roof. The shingles are destroyed in both the front and the back. Proof positive in pictures. I do not want to read one more we will make necessary repairs as a response because you cannot fix this mess this repairs. Allen needs to step up and accept that they made a mistake and takes ownership of it and do the right thing.

I am rejecting this response because:
******* says that you are responsible after the first year. I have attached a report from an independent inspector. This roof needs replaced. If you are willing to do that, then we can discuss what my portion would be for the replacement. You cannot fix this mess. ***************** from Allen Roofing said as much. It is wind damaged but only because of improper installation. I would prefer a cash settlement so that I can have the opportunity to search for my own installation company.
Sincerely,

The repairs were made and the roof looks terrible with lots of mismatched shingles and also has many shingles that you have physically lift up. I have a $400,000 home that needs a new roof. I am requesting that this be reopened because this roof cannot be repaired.Initial Complaint

This company came out to do tuckpointing on my front porch. I paid $1428. After the snow, the tuckpointing coming out of the bricks. I called them and they told me they wouldn't come back to my home.
