Hi Tech towed my car from the gas station where it broke down at the request of the business but when I went to recover my car and pay the fees they wouldn't release it to me without proof I own it bc I haven't registered it yet. I told them I kept the title in the car so when I get pulled over I could show proof I own the car. And I would need to get my title from inside the car. They refuses me access to the car to get title so they are stealing my $5000 car from me.

********************* was not the registered owner of this vehicle according to the State of Missouri. She had no documentation to provide evidence that she was in any way authorized to access this vehicle. Access to the vehicle was denied per Missouri Law, we cannot allow unauthorized persons to access to vehicle under our custody and control. Staff searched the vehicle at her request, seeking documents to prove her claims, such as a vehicle title. No such documents were found. ******************** returned the next day, having found documentation that proved ownership, and was allowed access to the vehicle at that time. The vehicle was released to ******************** at that time without incurring any further charges. We recommend that to prevent this issue in the future ******************** follow Missouri law and properly register her vehicles in her name.

They made me pay $260 in labor cost they said should roughly take 30 minutes to maybe an hour if I wanted my mirrors put on too. I would not have agreed to this payment if I knew they were going to take so long, and lolly gag so they could get more labor cost in. I watched them take 15 minute breaks at least twice for no reason, just walking around. I want at least some of that money back, because I didn't pay that much for such a small repair to be taken advantage of. I spent an hour and 30 minutes AT LEAST to. Very unhappy with service, and need help.

Hi-Tech Auto and Truck Parts LLC is a mechanic shop and salvage yard, not the body shop listed in the complaint. We charged ******** ************** book time for repairs. Which is standard in the industry. Our shop rate is $100 per hour, which is below most shops in our area. There are many shops in our area that charge $125 to $140 per hour. We charged ******** ************** 1 hour to remove and replace a serpentine belt and diagnose a faulty belt tensioner. We charged 1.6 hours to remove and replace the door mirrors on both sides of her 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The customer supplied her mirrors for us to replace. Both of our software programs, ********* and *******, show 0.8 hours to remove and replace the serpentine belt. We normally charge 0.5 hours for diagnostic time. We discounted it to 0.2 hours, which brought the total time for replacing the belt and diagnosis of the faulty belt tensioner assembly to 1.0 hours. Book time for ********* and ******* both show 0.8 hours per side to remove and replace the door mirrors. The original mirrors came in with aftermarket blind spot mirrors attached. Our shop manager, who was also assisting in the repair, asked the customer if she would like those removed and re-installed on her new mirrors. She said yes. We removed them and installed new adhesive to attach them to the new mirrors free of charge to her. I gave her an estimate over the phone beforehand for the door mirrors. I told her my estimate to remove and replace them was 0.5 hours to 1.0 hour per door mirror. The technician who was working on the vehicle did not take 15-minute breaks to get more labor cost in. He had to look at his computer to see the belt routing diagram and tensioner specifications, as well as look up procedures for the door mirrors. We discounted the diagnostic time by 0.3 hours and removed and re-installed the blind spot mirrors at no charge.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I needed the mirrors installed yes, but I bought those on my own, I just asked them to install them, watching them it took less than 10 minutes, I shouldn't be charged OVER 100 dollars for that. I am once again requesting some of my money back, as that is overpricing. And they called me back about "another" part, the pulley, saying I needed to do that too for around 360 again. So all I'm asking is for some of it back, because I didn't agree to this payment, I was told 50-100 dollars, which is still way more than it should be, but it's labor cost.

    Sincerely,

    ******** **************

To our knowledge the customer has not attempted to contact us about this issue. She also did not inform us that she had an issue with the bill when picked her vehicle up and paid. On 10-27-23 we called the customer ourselves to try to explain the charges to her. She did not accept our explanation. We charged the customer 1 hour for the belt and a diagnosis, and 0.8 hours per door mirror, which comes out to 2.6 hours total labor. We charged her book time for the replacement, as is our company policy. There were no breaks taken during this installation, but the charges are the same nonetheless because we charged book time. We did not charge the customer for her mirrors because she brought them in herself. The only part that the customer was charged for was the belt that we installed.
