I hired Cabinets by King (King) to install cabinets in my newly constructed home. The design phase went smoothly but the install was a disaster. My builder said that in all his experience this was easily the worst installation he had experienced -- he said he has seen nothing like it. The cabinet installation spaned four months and set me back two months in getting in my house. This caused me to pay mortgage on two homes, as well as other expenses. In addition, the installer cause property damage and cost me additional contractor and sub-contractor fees. I am not seeking specific performance as they eventually completed the job. I am looking to offset my remaining balance by my economic damages caused by King's negligence and incompetence. I went to King in good faith and offered to settle my account for $12,000; this was a generous comprimise. King said they would settle for $18,000. I said I would be willing to split the difference and come up to $15,000 just to put the situation behind me. However, King was not willing to accept this offer indicating that would require them to take a loss on the job. ******* owner at King, said he would be open to mediation. I am no longer willing to settle at $15,000. I have even more time invested in resolving this matter and am now seeking ALL damages be netted against my final bill. I have attached a summary of my damages (Ex. 1) and supporting documentation. Ex. 2 and Ex. 4 are still to come.
