We hired Hunter to build our retaining wall and after many interviews of different contractors we decided to settle on hunter. June 18 he came to our home to we had our meeting to sign the contract and we did so and gave him a check of $6,750 with starting date to start within two weeks from the date. on the contract is has a date of 07/06/22 to provide some grace period however it was supposed to start two weeks from 06/18/22. on 07/02/22 I reached out for the FIRST time since giving him the deposit, as we were a little past the start date that was verbally agreed to however I knew he would be hard work on another job that he was supposed to be finished wrapping up on the plaza, i heard nothing back from him . I then reached out on 07/05/22 due to not have heard ANYTHING from him sending pictures of additional things that we may want since the following day 07/06/22 was supposed to be the Contractual start date. A reply came a few hours later that he will text me more later however its going to be a few more weeks before he can begin . I reply with an yes sir and the next correspondence is on 07/11/22 asking that if I have plans of the property I reply being in my line of work should be able to do so. on 07/20/22 I ask for a timeline update and receive a reply that he "will call later" which did not occur. Its now 07/23/22 with no call, text, or reply I request once more for him to "call me today" it also did not occur. on 07/24/22 I send a stern text message saying i expect better communication from this point forward. his reply is " hey sorry ill call you this afternoon" IT DID NOT OCCUR. 07/25/22 we do speak on the phone for the first time since deposit was given and he tells me he was ordered by the city to stop working on the ladies house on the plaza due to his contractor did not pull proper permits and ensure me he's still waiting on engineer drawings but tells us he had someone submit a permit I looked on compaskc and that turned out to be a lie.

That reponse that i recived on letting him know that nothing had actually been submitted was  ill get a hold of with my guy who deals with those kind of stuff for me He said he thought he submitted it but i guess not but if you can do that for me i would greatly apprciate it because he's on vacation right now. Ill call him tomorrow" . i let him know the following day 07/26/22 that with the poor comunication, the fact we are more then a month behind where we initally thought we would be and the blatant lies that we want our money back and are going to go a diffrent route . After a bunch of comunications back and forth he agrees to give us back our money and we agree to meet at the lees summit police station at 7pm on 07/29/22 apon arrival we text him "we are here" to which he replies oh sorry working late wont be able to make it. we ask him to mail it he says ok . and then i text him on the 08/01/22 that we are moving on and we have 3 options 1. was to give our engernerring plans to us and we would take the $5,750. and part ways. Option 2. was you keep those engernerring plans and we take the full deposit of $6,750. The third is our current situation where hes decided to steal our money and we are presuing all means nessessary
