I went to aamco of Olathe to have them look at my transmission because I thought that was the problem with my car. I usually take it to a friends husband who has done a majority of the work on my car but I was nervous so I brought it here. They looked at it and told me “yep it’s the transmission” proceeded to talk about “making sales” and quoted me 6k for a new transmission. I called my friend and he said to let him look at it before I made any decisions or spent any money. I told Dustin at aamco I am not making a decision that day he left the room for like 5 minutes and I felt very weird at this point and he comes back and told me not to drive it. That wasn’t mentioned previously but okay. I take it to my friend a couple of days later and he told me it was the engine misfiring and I just needed my spark plugs replaced. Once I got that done I no longer had the problem. I would have been very upset if I would have paid all that money to get a transmission put in and that not even be the problem. I’m glad I went with my instinct and got a second opinion. I heard Dustin talking on the phone to his boss about an “incentive” so I would buy that day. They only care about sales and not actually taking care of you. They will try and say they want to keep the cost low but they will straight up lie to you so you spend a lot of money on something you don’t need! I spent $100 to get my spark plugs replaced. $5,900 cheaper than I would have paid for a new transmission at AAMCO. They didn’t even mention spark plugs to me at aamco. They should be ashamed of taking advantage of someone. I’m sure they’ve done this before.
