Sept 11, 2024 I paid for my dentures with being told that however much my insurance paid I would be reimbursed. My insurance didn't cover the dentures I picked off of their sheet. Never was I informed which denture my insurance would cover when choosing. When I talked with the office about this they refused any form of reimbursement. 100% unsatisfied with this company as I have all my notes and even stood and talked with the lady that told me I would be reimbursed, which she didn't deny..

On September 11, 2024, Mr. ******* presented to the office for Upper and Lower dentures as he was unhappy with a set he had received from another dental office in April of 2024. Prior to treatment, assistant A.B. reviewed the patients treatment options, estimated insurance coverage and any clinical issues that may affect treatment.  As only one of the four levels of dentures is typically eligible for insurance coverage, it is customary to inform patients that the Premium Complete Denture (*** codes 5110 & 5120) is the only denture service typically eligible for reimbursement. During this review, assistant A.B. brought in Dental Assistant Lead ****** help explain a clinical issue which would affect the fit if the dentures and explain insurance reimbursement.

Mr. ******* select the Better Plus denture, which does not meet the *** definition of a Complete Denture and is internally coded as a 5111 & 5121.  The insurance code for those services is 5899.  Mr. ******* accepted and signed the treatment plan prior to treatment.  The treatment plan indicated the denture service did not meet the criteria for a Complete Denture.  Please see the attached signed treatment plan.  At a later date, the patients wife contacted the office requesting we change the codes to 5110 & 5120.  AS the services rendered do not meet the criteria for those codes, we are unable to change them. To do so would constitute insurance fraud.

I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because:
When I first contacted the office they were told the insurance company was to be reimbursed for prior dentures and their response was they would them rebill insurance and I WOULD BE reimbursed what the insurance allowed. Not one time was I told which dentures they would or would not cover. In signing the treatment plan once again they knew there was going to be a reimbursement to my insurance company then they would reimburse me, this was very much voiced at this time. The lady which did originally set my apt and tell me this would be reimbursed DID NOT deny what she had told me originally about my money being reimbursed when I confronted her at the office, I tried to talk with them about this to no avail as I said she did not deny to me she had told me this. I feel they are definitely in the wrong and I have been cheated out of monies owed to me. When I called my insurance company and told them we were waiting on the reimbursement to them to get our reimbursement they are the ones who informed and explained about the code that had been submitted, the office DID Not inform me of this. All I was shown is the attached document on cost no where did it explain the insurance coverage at all. Point blank I was told when insurance was reimbursed they would reblll and I would be reimbursed what the the insurance paid. I feel like they should reimburse me the monies owed to me as I had been told they would. The front office needs to be more accurate and correct possibly when telling customers what they would and would not reimburse as this IS what they told me..

    Sincerely,

    ****** *******

I had dentures made and I paid for my portion. They were supposed to bill insurance for the remaining amount. The insurance told me the wrong code is being used and MidAmerica Dental will not correct the code so that the insurance can pay for the dentures. I am now being sent to collections for the remaining amount which is not right.

I am unable to post the following in the response section of the complaint.  Can you please do so for me?

As of May 7, 2024, the collections actions were terminated for the outstanding balance.  Furthermore, any unpaid balance after insurance payments will be written off.  Unfortunately, due to Aetna's actions, future patients who have *************** will have a limited selection of treatment options.
