    I believe Little Flower wrongfully practices balance billing because I received a bill for my son’s tongue and lip tie procedure 20 months after the date of service. His procedure occurred on 4/16/21, at which time I paid $230 toward my deductible, and I received the first very unexpected bill on 12/18/22 for $997.81. I did not have any prior communication from little flower or my health insurance regarding this matter until I received the bill in December. I filed an appeal with my insurance in January of 2023 and it was denied. My second appeal was partially approved in February but I still owe $541.83, according to Little Flower. When on the phone with their billing specialist, *** *************, to find a resolution and gain further information on the issue, he was defensive and encouraged me to find a different health insurance. In general, their practice was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in healthcare. I was only there for the procedure for my son but without warning, I was shamed for my birth control choice, for returning to work instead of staying home, and for my safe sleep practice with my son. When I stated he sleeps in his empty crib in his own room and laid on his back (all AAP recommended practices for safe sleep), Dr. *** ****** raised her voice and yelled “WRONG!”. As soon as I mentioned that I knew my son had tortícolis, she snapped “are you medical?” And I replied, “Yes, I am a pediatric physical therapist assistant”, she became even colder after that. She was also an hour late for our appointment, my son was starving and screaming because we were told not to feed him before the procedure, and when I fed my son one ounce of pumped breast milk to tie him over (because I wasn’t sure when she would be seeing us), she threatened to send us home. Our experience was appalling. I have also filed a complaint with the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance. My statement number is ******, patient ID is *****. My son’s name is ******* ****.
