In April 2022, Better Business Bureau questioned Smokea's website, www.smokeawholesale.com, which stated, “Once approved you’ll have access to all products at wholesale pricing.” and, “Shop SMOKEA Wholesale for the industry’s hottest and best selling brands at wholesale prices.”
The Better Business Bureau Code of Advertising states, “The terms ‘wholesale price,’ ‘at cost’ and the like can be used where they are current prices which retailers usually and customarily pay when they buy such merchandise for resale. For example, where the advertiser buys its products from a manufacturer, a claim that it sells at ‘wholesale prices’ can be used if its prices are comparable to those charged by wholesalers in its trade area.”
BBB requested the business substantiate, modify, or discontinue the claims made on its website. The company responded that they would not make any changes to its website.
