I took my car in for a car wash around 2:30pm on Monday, January 29th. I turned my car off and left my key fob in the center console cup holder and got out and told the attendant what "level" of car wash I wanted. He then started the car and drove it onto the "track" to begin the wash. When the wash was over another employee drove it about 20 feet to get in in line to be dried and vacuumed on the inside. 2 employees worked on drying and cleaning the inside of my car. When it was done, one of the employees started the car up and drove it about 3 feet and then signaled to me that it was done. The car was running when he got out so he HAD to have had the key fob on him or near him for him to start the car. I gave him his tip and drove home.I always leave my fob in my car when it is in my garage. Around 9:25pm I got in my car to go to work and I realized my fob was not in my car and I got a "Key not detected" message on my screen. Even if I had mistakenly taken my fob inside, it would have still been within reach of the car for it to be detected. Either the fob was accidentally sucked up when they vacuumed the car OR one of the employees picked up the fob to clean out the cup holder and put it in their pocket or work tray and forgot about it and didn't turn the key fob in because they were scared they would get in trouble. I called them this morning around 8:20 and told them what happened and described both employees that worked on my car and the person said "I know who you are talking about." and he got my name and number and said he would forward it on to a supervisor that would check the machines to see if it was vacuumed into them. It is 2:17pm now and I have not received a call. If it is NOT in the vacuum, they should have the decency to call me and let me know. If it isn't in the vacuum, then one of those employees need to be held accountable. I want this business to pay for a replacement key fob.
