On April 11, 2023 received estimate to repair shower drain , washer stack, the kitchen stack under basement floor, and the floor drain near the stack. employees of this business came to my house on May 2, 2023 to do job. Job was finished quickly, I noticed pipe was big coming out of shower and called the owner **** Petzold and made him aware, and also the floor drain was not replaced. He stated that when they come in to do bathroom, they will cut it down to size, and also stated he would deduct money for the floor drain. I paid him *******. When my contractor came to start bathroom, he said he could not start it as it's the wrong size pipe, they used a 3 inch instead of a 2 inch pipe for shower drain. also stated didn't think the problem was fixed. I had to find a licensed plumber to come, after a long delay due to plumber being busy he came. It was all done wrong and he had to redo the job, the new person I hired had to redo it and stated he used wrong pipe, and didn't fill it in correctly. I had to pay the new guy to redo it. I have reached out to **** Petzold , the owner of ST. Louis Excavation numerous times regarding the situation. He did send the same employee out to look at it, who did it the first time prior to me having to hire the other guy. I wanted **** to come. Never came out. I asked him to refund me ****** what the other guy charged me, he said he would, and I still have not received it. Then told him I should be getting my whole refund and that I'm being generous. I did inform him he can return the full amount as he is not working with me, and I should not have to pay for something that was done wrong, he has never once came and look at the job himself after my complaints. He did not get an inspection on this as well, and I don't think he is licensed to do this work, as I'm just now finding this out Many emails and many texts and still no response. Very poor customer service and workmanship.St ************************************************************************* Clair ************

    We did do the job
All that was needed was to install a reducer to adapt the pipe down in size to match the shower pan

    We went there twice
The last time was around their schedule on a Saturday and her husband said he didn't have time to allow us to fix the issue.

I agree to pay her first request of $500

I'm not giving more than that because someone else chose to take her for more money when all they needed to do was add a reducer to fit the shower pan

    I mailed the check for ****** check # **** , I have attached a photo

We had returned a signed quote from St. Louis Excavation on May 12th for a estimate they provided in April. This included a down payment of $1,850. Since that time we have had little communication from **** on the scheduling of our job, ignored text messages related to scheduling our job. Failure to show up on days they had committed to working on our job and excuse after excuse on the delays. We wanted to get our job complete before we moved into our new house and almost 2 months later we are still waiting. We have already requested a return of our deposit that was finally answered after a couple of communications. The company wants to keep 25% of the proposal amount as a penalty for canceling the contract. We have had no one on site so they wouldn't have incurred any expenses looking at our job and this entire situation has not stemmed from any fault on our side to execute the contract. At this point, we are looking at someone else to complete the work and all we want is for our deposit to be returned in full.

No where on the contract does it have a exact start date, I have had some jobs ahead of them which has went alot longer than anticipated,  which was not anyone's fault. Finding more work needed done on these jobs , had to be completed before I can move on. I cannot leave other customers with huge holes in thier yards and systems that are not working.  There has also been holidays , the weather , employees calling in , break downs. I have kept the customer informed of why I'm delayed , and I told them I would be there asap. Per the contract it states , that if the customer wants to cancel the contract for any reason there is a 25% penalty,  or they can keep the contract and I will do the work.

After having my texts ignored for two weeks, and not being able to reach anyone by phone, I messaged the owner saying if he thinks he can't do the job, just give me my deposit back and we're good. He then sends me a response as to why he can't do the work and then says he will gladly drop off a check.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 07/07/2023

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
The owner did not respond to my texts for 2 weeks until I said if he cannot do the work then I will take my deposit check back and that would be that. He responded with a list or reasons as to why he couldn't get to the work and then said he would gladly drop a check off. I did not take his offer at the time because I did not want to repeat the whole process of finding someone to do the work. Two more weeks go by and several missed start dates with more excuses. Two months is not soon and not responding to my texts for days and weeks at a time is not keeping me reasonably up to date with what is happening.

    Sincerely,

    ******* ******

On May 2022, we put a deposit of $6000 for sewer work to St. Louis Excavation. On November 2022, they had not completed the work and we discovered they cancelled the permit to do the work on the property. We have repeatedly contacted them to refund the deposit money and they have promised to do so. We still do not have the money. We want to warn others who are thinking of using St. Louis Excavation. We would like the deposit refunded.

The sellers paid upfront for the entire sewer lateral replacement Work started on November 10, 2022, closed on the home November 3, 2022. November 11, 2022, began what became my second job of following up, asking for communication. November 11, 2022, also the day they broke my basement window, this has not been replaced. November 14, 2022, I asked them if they were going to be cleaning the basement stairs and the basement floor. Told yes, however they wouldn't repaint the basement floor. Contract states home would be indemnified. Basement was freshly painted when I moved in. Stains on the stairs and floors still there. November 27, 2022 First Follow up for completion of yard, leveling and seeding. Pouring concrete for the sidewalk they removed. Told it would be completed in a few weeks.December 8, 2022, water in my basement from the sewer ******* that wasn't fixed. They were supposed to work with STL City to have the clay ******* removed/replaced. I paid $325 to have the sewer line cleaned. December 10, 2022. STL came out a couple weeks later and replaced the clay ***** December 14, 2022, Asked **** to pay half of the $325, he said it wasn't his responsibility. I asked if he had a timeline of finishing my project, he said in the next day or so. I had hurt my knee around this time trying to get over the sidewalk area that was torn out. I couldn't take his abuse. Took a break from asking to heal emotionally and physically. Knee surgery was March 22, 2023.April 3, 2023, I asked to set up a date for the regrading, seeding, and concrete pour. He responded April 4, 2023, "well have it regraded in a day or so. the second they are done with a repair they are heading your way". I asked for a timeline, he said "for what", my reply was the regrade, seeding, and pouring concrete. I was told within the next few days.April 7, 2023, asked for an update. no response. Asked again, was told any day now. As of today, April 10, 2023, nothing has been done.

Company was hired to replace a sewer lateral. Work was completed Feb 3, 2023. Owner informed no one should walk on it for 25 hours. 39 hours later review work & it appears complete. Speak with owner who says he will pick up check Feb 6. On the 6th we both review work; owner informed it appeared the concrete still hadnt cured and signs of it dipping outside of basement steps but that it should be fine to walk on soon. Feb ********************************** when I stepped on it. I notified owner work did not cure properly and asked for follow up to correct issue. Owner have said twice they will check on the issue & fix when the weather is not bad. 30+ days later no workers have shown back up.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 04/24/2023

The owner **** reached out to resolve the incident. He sent his team to fix the damaged area. The concrete is now cured and not caving in after 10 days.

**** has stopped responding to texts and phone calls after messing up our yard and causing our house to flood TWO DAYS after moving in because he created a dam in the backyard and left no where for water to go except towards and inside our new home. I was on my hands and knees digging a funnel in the ground to try and save our house from serious damage and thank goodness I was able to. He came out the next day and said “it wasn’t his fault” which is not true because every single neighbor said that has NEVER happened before and there’s no previous water damage to the inside of our home. He agreed to regrade our back yard and has been dodging our phone calls and keeps making empty promises to our realtor that he’s coming back out but clearly isn’t.
