On Saturday, the 12th of April, I schedule an 10 am appt. to have a tune up done on my 2014 ****** Versa Note. When I got there, I handed the mechanic/ front desk guy my keys. I went to the waiting room, and it was 10:07 am. It 11:18 am I got up to walk around and see if my car was in the bay area and it was. I did this to see if they had started on my car yet. I then went bac to the waiting room and ten minutes later I was called to the front desk by a different guy (another mechanic) who begin to check me out and when I was standing there at the front desk when I glanced it my bill and ask if that was my cost or am I looking at the wrong bill. He stated, " it is your bill", "why, is there something wrong?" I said, "yes. I did not know it would cost that much, wow, I did just get a tune up right?" He asked me "if I had spoken to the other mechanic about the cost?" I told him "No, I did not speak to anyone about the cost or what I was paying for", and he just proceed with the transaction, and I felt as if he did not care or was concerned with my not being made aware of the cost or if I had the money to pay for this surprise amount. What if I had not been able to pay it or had nowhere near that amount to cover the cost? He just ignored the facts that I was shocked at the cost and was not told or explained or offer any information or opportunity to deny the work or seek a better option or offer. I feel as if I was ripped off and yes, I am entitled to discounts and my money refunded to me immediately.Business Response

I would first like to apologize for any misunderstanding or discomfort during your last visit. We should have communicated with you first before proceeding with repairs, regardless of the fact that you came in for that particular repair. We srive to do better each day. I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because:
My car continues to drive rough and for what I paid it should sound quieter than it did before they supposedly did their ripped off service of a tune up! I want to be visible when they redo my tune up or refund me my money to go have it done some place else that is trustworthy! Better yet I want my money back and I will take my car to another mechanic and have my tune up done properly!

I have reviewed the business' response and am rejecting it because: My receipt paperwork clearly states that I ask for a tune up and a tune up is based on how car sounds while idling and driving therefore the issue is with the tune up and you know it! Car sounding rough while idling or driving is clearly the grounds for needing and getting a tune up! For what I paid my car should be idling gracefully and smoothly and driving soundly and smoothly. So I am not accepting their excuses and I want my money back to have my car properly serviced!

I contacted this company to service my car. I explained what was wrong. "Throttle body" I turned the car in to the shop. They called and said it was done. I paid the money. I left a day later the problem appeared back on the car. (Slowed down on highway) I turned the car back in two days ago And he's calling to tell me the problem. "Throttle body" which I told him the first time that's what is wrong now, but he took my money and worked on something totally different and now he's trying to fix the first problem "throttle body" and charge me more money that I don't have. He did not call me the first time and tell me the total of the Services. He just stated the car was ready for me to pick it up. if I would've known what he had worked on the first time and how much he was charging me I would have told him to not touch the car. I went to get a check engine light checked that was on my dashboard of my car. They told me I needed a battery, took the battery out and sat it on the ground. They said it would be $500. They had trouble with her credit card so I put it on my dad**;s card, The check engine light came back on and they charged me over $780 for a battery and an air filter. I went back to them and they said I needed an air filter. Two weeks later the check engine light came on and I took my car back to them. A new manager was there and he offered me a free oil change. My dad called the headquarters of Midas and was told that each Midas is a franchise so I would have to contact the specific Midas I went to for service. When they opened the hood of my car, all of the air filter components were everywhere under the hood. They gave me a credit but it was added back to the bill.I would like to be refunded.Initial Complaint

I went to this location for an oil change. After the service my oil pan gasket pin was damaged and caused the car to smoke so I took it to a dealer to look at it. They stated the repair would cost $1,900.Customer Answer

I been with Midas 8 years and today was my very last time giving them bisnuiess. I was already uncomfortable and done with there company after previously witnessing the manager calling a customer name ********* derogatory names as she only wanted simple answers of when her vehicle will be ready hour after hour at appointment was at 1pm. However he tells me my vehicle ready only to get in my vehicle and notice they didn't put the proper tire pressure in my tires as I informed them 3 times before service started. Also I noticed my old symbol on dashboard was reset to show oil change was done and last I noticed a minor burning fume from my vehicle. So I went back in and brought it to the disrespectful unprofessional manager attention. He called me to the back and I knew the problem was created then because my vehicle didn't have any burning sent before I trusted it in there care. I honestly started to take pics of everything before I dropped it off to them because I did observe that they were also under all new management and new workers. However the manager showed me where the sent was coming from and informed me it was some sort of oil coming from my gasket and that could of only happened once I researched by the installation process of getting a oil change. He was very combative and and also begin to utlize minor curse words as I responded to him peacefully, *** if I haven't chosen curse words to build a understanding with you then please give me the same respect. He want away and continued on with his job after telling me it not there fault, what do I want him to do because he not fixing s*** that was already a problem. At that point I remove myself got my keys and walked out peacefully after speaking with a few more workers who I observed also was covering up the managers lie. Brought my truck to have the brake line looked at since they were the last to repair.. manager stated needed ***** bring in my truck to see what and if the warranty covered it..however after a couple days they called said warrant did not cover...I said ok then I will just come.pick up...came to get truck they refused initially to give ***** keys....conveniently once my "white" partner came in they gave me my keys and said get the f*** out and never come back...I go ***** truck battery is dead but stereo and speakers are gone..all windows are intact and doors were all locked...and parked on their lot...and my truck has been damaged on rear right bumper...Initial Complaint

On Monday, 10/07, I took my 2018 ***** 3 to get an oil change at Midas. They pulled my car into the garage to work on it while I was in the lobby. They finished & I left. That night, my check engine light came on & my engine was making a knocking noise, it sounded like it was going to blow, but I was on my street so I went home. It had only been driven 13 miles since I left Midas. I checked out my ******** there was no oil on the dipstick. The store was already closed, so on Tuesday, I went up to the location with my dad (a mechanic). He told them they didnt put any oil in my car & the engine is likely damaged. They said they did put oil in it, but there was a leak, so they tried to fix it & put more oil in it but it all must have leaked out again. They said they would let their manager know. About an hour later, I get a call from who I believe to be the regional manager. He said would have my car towed to the Midas location in ********, ********, because their mechanics are better. I was reluctant because thats not an unbiased opinion, but they said they had to look at it first. The next day, 10/09, I was told by the store manager of the ******** location that the regional manager would call me that morning. He never did. I got a call from a different manager around 4 pm saying they put oil in my ******** engine sounds fine so I can get my car. I asked if they took my engine apart to check for damage, because upon doing research, it appears my engine would have sustained some damage. He said no, but assured me there is none. I told them that is not enough, so I asked them to tow it to ***** dealership where they can guarantee me there is no damage. The manager also changed the story stating there was no leak like I was originally told. He said he would have to get back to me. I havent heard back, but Ive had no car for 3 days. I feel Im being swept under the rug so they dont have to spend money, even though they are the ones who made a mistake with my car.Initial Complaint

Location: ********************************************* I paid $1,036.47 for work on my car and they refunded me $46.60 for something I didn**;t know they charged me for so I went back up there to discuss it with them. The *** took the computer and turned it around to show me the breakdown of my bill. He said he will have my car fixed. My brakes were never fixed because I heard them squeaking. I had to come back so they had to order the parts for my brakes. I sat there from 12pm - 5pm. They made my car worse. My car is making all kinds of noises. They damaged my car. The calipers were missing and was making all the sounds on my car. If I had have kept driving the car, it would have done a lot more damage. I went to AutoZone and they told me not to drive too far. They installed new caliper bolts and they were missing. They could have fell out. I want all of my money back. This is terrible.Initial Complaint

I called Midas representative (****) and told him my check engine light was on and it is reporting I need to replace Oxygen sensor, Bank one sensor Two. He said bring it in and we'll take a look at it. He called me on the phone and said he will replace the sensor and it should take care of the check engine light. I said ok do it. When I went to pick up the car he said he replaced Oxygen sensor Bank one sensor one. That is not the sensor he was supposed to replace. The check engine light is right back on for Bank one sensor two, which is what the code originally reported. They charged me for an unnecessary job. I still have the same issue with my car, Oxygen sensor, Bank one sensor two.
