On Monday, 7 Oct, I ordered 1ea half order Special Fried Rice, no pork meat but ham ($6.95), 1ea half order Special Lo Mein, no pork meat but ham ($7.95), and 1ea half order of Shrimp Egg Foo Yung with fried instead of steamed rice (8.45). My total should have been around $23.35, excluding the upcharge for the fried vs steamed rice. I was charged $27.65. Instead of me checking prices prior to paying, I asked if the prices on the menu were correct; response was 'yes'. I then informed her (lady working the counter) that my food should only be $23.35, why was I being overcharged $4.30. She stated that since I asked to remove meat, that they added extra meat, to which I replied that I did not ask for anything extra. Of course, we argued a minute, then I asked for a receipt, to which, she handwrote a receipt which showed that she charged me $7.95 for the rice ($1 more), $8.95 for the Lo Mein ($1 more) and $10.75 for the EGG Foo Yung ($2.30 more). The menu did not depict how much fried vs steamed rice is, so, they can subjectively charge watever they feel like it. I want not only the $4.30 they overcharged me, but, this complaint to be made available for any patrons review.

Please note that Ms. ***** also filed a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General of Missouri.

I was saddened  when I read Ms. ******* complaint.  Northland Chop Suey has been and continues to serve the ******** community for over 45 years.  Over the course of 45 years, to my knowledge, this is the very first complaint alleging Northland Chop Suey of overchargining a customer.  I am sorry that Ms. ***** feels that she was overcharged.

I would like to take this opportunity to address a few issues that Ms. ***** included in her complaint as follows:

First, the majority of our customers are generational (i.e. their parent took them to Northland when they were a child and now they are taking their children to Northland) and are regulars.  I am not sure if this was Ms. ******* first visit to Northland Chop Suey.  It is customary practice for Northland Chop Suey to over stuffed our food containers.  Our customers repeately tell us that they receive a lot of food for the proce and that they feel that they are getting a good deal.  When a customer orders an enteree that consits of two or more kind of meats and has made a request to have one kind of meat removed, it is customary practice for us to add more of the meats that the customer wants.  This is how we have been conducting our business for the last 45 years.

Second, our menu items and respective prices are clearly shown on four large TV screens. Our prices are clearly listed.

Third, it is my understanding that Ms. ***** did not request a refund when she was at the restaurant. If Ms. ***** did, I would have happily obliged.

In summary, I am sorry that Ms. ***** fet that she was overcharged. In Ms. ******* complaint she requested a refund.  In reading Ms. ******* complaint, she requested a refund of $4.30 "I want not only the $4.30 they overcharged me, but, this complaint to be made available for any patrons review."  However, the "disputed amount" is listed as $27.65.  If I am reading the complaint correctly, Ms. ***** is requesting a refund of $4.30.  On 10/29/2024, I mailed a money order to Ms. ***** in the amount of $10.00 to her address (*******************************************) that she listed on the consumer information portion of her complaint to the Office of the Attorney General of Missouri. I noticed that on her complaint to the BBB, she listed an address of *********************************************
