About 3 months ago I received a paper in the mail stating that I owed a debt and I contacted to company to request record of this debt from 5 years ago that was already paid off. I got a call today, 08/29/2023, stating they were trying to collect a debt. From the get go the agent, ***** *****, was rude. I told her I had requested record of the debt and I never got it and she proceeded to tell me that they were not wasting postage on sending me another one and I told her that I was not willing to pay something if there can't be a record of it. She started yelling at me and said "so, you're not willing up to set up a payment " and I told her "no, not for something that you're not willing to send me record of, so you can send it to my credit and I will take care of it later" and she proceeded to yell at me and say "its way more than that, good luck" and then hung up the phone.

      To Whom It May Concern,

In response to the above complaint from **** *****************, Specified Credit Association received this account September 21st, 2021 due to nonpayment of an unpaid cash advance loan.  Attached is a copy of the signed agreement, returned check, payment ledger showing she made 2 payments in 2018 along with other documents to prove the debt was owed.  Attached also is our first letter dated September 23rd, 2021 to the address on file.

Our representative contacted her several times and Ms. ********** requested we send her the documents to prove the debt was owed.  We mailed those documents June 1st, 2023 to the address provided.  Since February, 2022 our attempts to contact her have been blocked.

SCA has complied with her requests and have not violated any laws.  Ms. ****************** debt is not paid and we will be happy to work with her to set up a payment plan however if she does not respond we will move forward and send this to our attorney for restitution.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

      Sincerely,

      **** ******** ***** ******* *************************

I am rejecting this response because:

I paid the loan off with cash and was never given a receipt, as I rejected it, because I felt the worker was fair. May I also add that the business is no longer opened at that location either. Also, I told the representative that I did not receive the paperwork and requested that another one to be sent and she told me "We are not wasting another postage to send it you". If you could please send it to my office. I work at the Missouri State Public Defenders Office in Rolla MO and the address is *** ***** **** ****** ***** *** ****** ** ***** and I would love to have one of my attorneys look over it and be prepared as I do not believe it is fair that I paid this loan off over 5 years ago.

      Sincerely,

      **** **********

I was enrolled in title boxing club for a couple months last year and ended up hurting my wrist so I stopped going and told them to cancel my membership. They told me they would not cancel and I needed to give a months notice and I still needed to pay the 100+ $ for the month. I told them I would not and that they needed to cancel my membership as I would not be going back. Was sent an email that membership was canceled and then received calls about how I still owed them money for the month. After a few weeks they stopped calling now a year later I receive a bill in the mail for 600+$ saying I need to pay this absurd amount?? They can’t keep billing me for a membership I don’t use because I can’t pay 100$ to cancel in the first place.

      To Whom It May Concern,

In response to the above complaint from ***** ********, Specified Credit Association received this account December 14th, 2022 due to nonpayment of a fitness club membership.  Attached is a copy of the fitness agreement signed February 1st, 2022.   The membership was to end September 1, 2022.

Our validation letter was mailed December 14th, 2022 to the address on file.  Mr. ******** gave you a copy of our validation letter initially.  Our representative contacted him several times and with each conversation he has refused payment or disconnected the call.

According to the club, his membership was to be cancelled in person however he had continually refused.    After review of the cancellation attachment from Mr. Hennessy, our office is not convinced it is valid however since he continually refuses restitution we have closed the account.   There will be no further contact with Mr. ********.

Attached is the club membership agreement.    If I can answer further questions please email or call anytime.

      Sincerely,

They have reached out to me regarding a debt I do not owe. It has been paid off. I have documentation that it has been paid. I told them I could send them information that can prove this. They told me it doesn't matter and hung up on me. Now they have blocked my number. I will send paperwork that I do not owe this debt.

In response to the above complaint, SCA received this account March 21st, 2022 from ********** ******* ********** as a past due account.

The validation letter was mailed the same day to the last known address.  Our collection representative left several messages and she finally spoke with her on April 4th, 2022 at 3:49pm.  At that time Ms. Thomas stated this was paid.  She stated she left the apartment in immaculate condition and she was going to obtain an attorney.  At that point we mailed her the documents showing her balance due from the apartment.

Our representative did speak with Ms. ****** again on April 11th at 10:05am and she stated she does not owe this debt and she has proof which included a receipt.   She also stated she was working with Allison at the corporate office.   At that point I spoke with the apartment Manager and Assistant Manager and they stated the balance was not paid.    The client claims Ms. ****** was informed the debt was due and unpaid.   We attempted to call Ms. ****** 3 times and she continually hung up on our representative.

We finally did speak with Ms. ****** again and we told her if this was paid, we needed proof of payment.  At that point she stated she was coming to our office at 8:00 am and we had better have the police here.     Our calls are recorded.  If you would like to have a copy, please let me know.

We have continually asked for proof of payment which we have not received.   Our telephone system does not have the capability of blocking phone numbers.  We will be happy to work with Ms. ****** if she would like to set up a payment plan.

Attached is our validation letter showing her balance due.   Please let me know if I can answer further questions.

      To Whom It May Concern:

In response to the second complaint from Ms. ****** she claims proof was sent to our office however we did not receive any documents.   If the documents would have been sent in the beginning this could have been resolved much faster.

After contacting our client, they did verify the account was paid with 2 money orders of $500 and $340.  They also apologized for not informing our office.

As of today, this file is closed.  No other actions will be taken.   This account was not reported to any credit bureaus.

I have attached a paid-in-full letter for Ms. Thomas.   We apologize for the inconvenience.

      Sincerely,

I received a call on February 1st, 2022 from a man claiming to be named ***** *****. He had contacted my place of employment rather than calling my cell phone, so I reached out to him at the number he left with my co-worker. Upon contact, he stated he was attempting to collect a debt from a payday agency and would be garnishing my wages if I did not agree to pay. I believed he was talking about a valid debt I had, and was slightly confused as I make regular payments on it, but was busy at work. I just figured the business sold my debt and now it was due. I agreed to pay the debt in full on February 11th, 2022. Upon doing so, I received the attached letter. Realizing I have NEVER had a loan with that company, I began reaching out to the listed contact information for clarification. All of the listed contact information is false, calling "******" extension land's me in someone named Michael's inbox. I looked up the company they claimed the debt was from, and they are PERMANENTLY CLOSED!! I want my money back, immediately, and will be seeking out any and all legal options if this does not work. The company I work for is looking to prosecute as well unless I am properly refunded, since they feel they were illegally contacted by someone who perpetrated a scam against their employee.

      Good Afternoon,

We received ********* ***** for collections on a past due loan with *** ***** *******.  Loan, Crystal City July 21st, 2015.  The loan # ***** was dated May 2nd, 2014 in the amount of $484.93.  No payments were made for repayment.

The company submitted all past due accounts to our office for collection.   The company is closed however the past due accounts are not as the funds were given to Ms. *****.

We attempted to collect the balance with Ms. ***** via phone calls and letters over the years with no response.   Recently we found her new employer and ***** ***** contacted her for payment.   She agreed to make restitution February 11th, 2022 for payment in full.  The payment was applied to her account and we closed the file.

This is an unpaid valid debt and after careful review we decline to give Ms. ***** a refund.

Attached is the application, signed contract, and our first letter.

If I can answer any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

      Sincerely,
