WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! Your "electrician" arrived toward the end of May, 2022.(1) I gave him the newly bought exterior sensor light to install and showed him instructions on correct setting of how many minutes it should remain lit at one time.(35) (2.) I showed him all the upper bathrooms wall outlets that made a loud noise and died. He claimed to correct the problems; Presented me with a bill of ($95 service call) labor of $237.50 and materials of $48 less $20 discount. The sensor came on every night and stayed on all day every day! I returned it back to the store and they helped me since the electrician could not understand the directions. A few days later, with only night bulbs lighting the bathroom outlets there was another very loud "BANG" and all of the little bulbs went dead again! All of the GFCI's were not working and the panel was of no help. When I called the office for help, was I Shocked! The person answering started SCREAMING AT ME! She claimed that it had nothing to do with them and when something already exists in the home...again...it had nothing to do with them! What?????!! She didn't make sense, partially because she was yelling over me trying to talk to her. If they came back, it would cost $95 for the trip and $90 per hour: this for their own inability to fail the job the first time! She also threatened that it would do no good to report them as it is a "no Union Shop". I find this all very sad as I happen to be ,and have been for 34 years, a Realtor in St. Louis and Europe. I always have need for good electricians and professionals in Selling/Buying properties.

Thank you, for your statement to the BBB. Customers often look to the BBB for the structure of the company they are going to hire. We desire only to leave the customer knowing they have chose the right company.

Thank you for choosing Fielder Electrical Services, Inc. to provide for your electrical needs, as many realtors in St. Louis and the surrounding area have also done for over 30 years. We are appreciative for this experience with you.

You are a very important client to us. As the work we performed was warranted, a return trip at no charge to accommodate your request to return the light to a "motion" only and not dust to dawn feature.

Thank you, again and good luck with any future experiences you may have with repairs in your home.

      Customer response

I didn't ask them to come back out and change anything.  He never came out as he indicated in his response.  All I wanted them to do is to refund me; the work they did didn't solve the issue that I had.

      Business response

      09/09/2022

We do not feel that a refund is warranted, and we consider this matter closed.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: You would be indignant too if you spent hundreds of $ to have this company claim to have repaired your bathroom wall outlets only to

have them explode again plus a new exterior sensor light not be installed correctly and burn ALL DAY.  This light had to be  taken to the original store because the

"electrician" threw away all instructions, packing etc. Then, the person answering the phone at the electrical store started screaming without stopping at me saying it wasn't

their fault but they could send the same "electrician" for hundreds of -once again quoted- dollars  back to my house to try again!  Don't try to envision me with a serene

look on my face; it doesn't exist!  I want this complaint published and the "Business/Customer Relations Book" read.

Contacted Fielder Electric for a basement remodel. Called office twice asking about demo before work began and they insisted it included Demo as it was mentioned during the walk through by **** ******* saying, "This will all come out and we will run new electric." We proceeded with the contract. On the initial day of work, the electrician ***** stated I can't take the old electric out because its not in the contract. To our surprise he removed the old electric without asking for permission or signing an extra sheet. A greater surprise when we received an extra bill ($670) for the work. We called the office to inquire and asked who gave approval for the demo and where was our signed extra sheet. ****** stated he should have had the extra sheet but doesn't and its our problem. Asked how are we responsible for work that was not approved or signed an extra contract. She stated, "You wanted it out, we did a good job, you should pay it." We asked for resolution and she stated that for the rest of the job no extra work would be completed without an added signed contract. Fielder came to finish the job and installed faulty smoke detectors from the year 2005 with a battery inserted from 2010. We called to report the faulty/old detectors and ***** gave 3 different excuses why they were using 16-year-old detectors. (1. We only use new smoke detectors. 2. We can’t find new smoke detectors due to COVID, but they are new. 3. They’re your old smoke detectors). We questioned why they are charging us for new ones and using our old ones. And if they are our old ones where were they and why is ***** hiding and snooping items around our house. She said she would call back with answers and no one called back with any follow up. We also reported they did not pass electrical inspection due to fact that they were not interconnected with smoke alarms upstairs. ***** was placing blame on the county inspectors explaining they don't know code and he de-activated the interconnection. We asked who will be responsible for the bill because we're not paying for Fielder's mistake for failing inspection. She stated, "It depends." We asked what that means and we received no response or clarification. ***** came to check the smoke detectors and said **** will fix the issue for $300. We said no. He went to call **** and his response was "I have to close out the account, **** said Just get it done.” We paid the final bill for the contract and 2 weeks later we have yet to receive our lien waiver/lien release. I called the office and they said yes we will email it over to you. Nothing was sent. We received a bill in the mail a week later for $500 with a billing date 2 days after I called for the lien release/waiver. Called the office to inquire about the extra bill. Asked to see a copy of our signed extra sheet. ***** said it is with the estimator. We requested to have the estimator call us. Estimator refused to call back. * Called back to speak to the estimator and not in the office. ****** stated that we are responsible for the bill. We again questioned where our signed extra sheet was as it was agreed upon before when they failed to have an extra sheet for unauthorized work that no extra work would be performed without an extra sheet. Questioned why they are completing work that is not up to code, ****** stated it was not Fielder’s responsibility to know what is code and not code. How can a company, who according to their website, advertises licensed electricians and follows specifications set forth in the governing National Electric Code for each county or municipality not be responsible for completing work up to St. Louis County code? Our experience with Fielder Electric has been scam after scam when they are expecting payment for completing unauthorized work outside of a signed contract, refusing to answer questions, refusing to return calls when information has been requested. Twice they performed work without signed written consent. They purposely leave items off their contract that have to be completed so that their contract will be lower than others.

      Response to consider:

Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. ******* for contacting the BBB in regard to you most recent project with FIELDER ELECTRICAL SERVICES, INC. Your complaint can show others the importance of using a very knowledgeable General Contractor that can provide you with advice and guidelines on running a project such as yours. This project encountered delays due to homeowner not being available or ready at the time of schedule, which could have been avoided with a General Contractor in charge of scheduling at the correct time of project. We are obligated to fulfil the requirements, as stated and agreed upon in the signed proposal, indicating the changes that may be required of the inspector(s) having jurisdiction. These requirements are for the safety of the homeowner and of the contractors providing the services.

We were happy to accommodate your contract pricing and the schedule changes that were presented to us. We wish you only the best in your future.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Fielder refused to answer any of the complaints against them.  You never answered our previous complaints except going on a different tangent placing blame on others.  The issues are not on the general contractor, but on the electrical aspect completed by Fielder Electric.

We did hire a general contractor, Reliable Remodeling, one in which Fielder recommended (**** Fiedler personally recommended) and which was working with Fielder Electric.  As far as your scheduling concerns, we happily accommodated Fielder’s schedule with prior confirmations.  However, showing up without speaking directly to us, without informing us of your arrival, or intentions is not fault of us the homeowner, but for Fielder’s lack of communication and planning.  You cannot call while you’re in route and expect us to be there within minutes.

As for unforeseen changes that may be required of the inspectors, the general contractor shared with your Electrician ***** the final plans and left out for his review which state, “Verify/provide a smoke alarm in and outside each bedroom and on each story.  Smoke alarms must be UL listed and physically or wirelessly interconnected one alarm sounds all alarms.  Smoke alarms may be either AC powered with a battery back-up or battery powered.  Verify/provide UL listed carbon monoxide alarm outside each bedroom area if the house has fuel-fired appliance or garage.”  Fielder cannot claim they have no knowledge of expected codes they are to follow.

You never answered our previous complaint except going on a different tangent placing blame on others.  According to the signed proposal we were to be advised if work would exceed the budgetary amount.  You added an extra $1100 for work with no extra signed contracts as you stated was your company policy.

I’m still waiting for follow up with why you installed 16-year-old smoke detectors with a battery that expired 10 years ago.

You completed demo without our knowledge or signed approval and billed us for unapproved work for $670.00 without a signed extra contract.

We paid our final invoice dated 9/28 (mailed check on 10/11 and check cashed 10/26).  We received an outstanding bill on 11/11 for $500 that has no signed contract by us the home owner.  The job was completed with us explaining to Electrician ***** that we are not paying for Fielder’s mistakes. ***** followed up with **** Fielder explaining that **** said I have to close out the account, just get the job done, which we have recorded.

Our experience with Fielder Electric has been scam after scam when they are expecting payment for completing unauthorized work outside of a signed contract, continual refusal to answer questions, to return calls when information has been requested. Twice they performed work without signed written consent.  From their previous response they failed to address the concerns we laid out.
