Extremely long wait times for medically necessary care. Had a total right hip replacement Oct 29, 2024 and was supposed to complete 12 weeks of physical therapy. It is now Feb 22, 2025 and I have only been able to get 8 of those 12 weeks approved. That is al.ost 18 weeks and only 8 of the 12 weeks have been approved ans they are trying to decline the rest of my physical therapy!!

I wouldnt even give this insurance company one star Absolutely the worst insurance Ive ever had !!! Ive been getting injections since 2012 Our union Hall switched From Aetna to Blue Cross and Blue Shield and they have denied me for seven months I get injections in my upper back and lower back its my life line to be able to move around Im inoperable and its just been denial denial denial my pain management send in more information than they would ever need and just was told they didnt know I get injections in two separate levels. Theyre a hot mess. They dont look over the MRIs or most important parts this insurance companies lazy !!! They just look at the notes and they dont even have a doctor ********* for the spine. Its a nurse practitioner that looks over the claims (NOT QUALIFIED)what a Tragedy !!! They take out $1000 out of my husbands pension check per month to have this insurance. I wish the union Hall wouldve investigated a lot better before signing on with these guys. So I looked into the reviews. Blue Cross and Blue Shield has some of the worst reviews just like the HBOs in the 90s, they had a lot of lawsuits because of all the denial they were giving 90% Denials. So think twice before you go with this insurance company make sure that is what do you want Denial denial denial !!!!

I went through the process to sign up for an off-market individual health plan, the premiums for which would be reimbursed by my employer under a QSEHRA plan. IRS regulations require that receipts for premium payments be submitted monthly to one's employer for reimbursement. Though my policy was not to take effect for another three weeks, Anthem charged my credit card for the first premium immediately. They did not provide any sort of receipt for the charge. I then proceeded to contact them five times, four times using live chat and once through secure messaging, to obtain the required receipt. All but the last chat provided no answer whatsoever, and the last chat told me that a receipt could not be provided. In all of the aforementioned communications, the representatives appeared to have trouble understanding basic English. As a result, I asked for a supervisor, which was denied. At that point, I gave up and cancelled the policy. I share this so that people expecting customer service representatives that can read and understand English are forewarned. In addition, those needing a QSEHRA compatible plan should know in advance that Anthem cannot comply with the basic requirement of providing a receipt for premiums. For Anthem's benefit, I recommend that they publish up front that their plans are not compatible with QSEHRAs so as to avoid wasting everyone's time. I also suggest that they consider improving the English comprehension of their customer service representatives. I trust that, if desired, they can review the transcripts of all of my aforementioned communications. For my part, I'm sorry that it didn't work out. It was a big waste of time for me.

If I could give them no stars I would. My son has severe ADHD/ODD we finally, after years of struggling, we found him the help he needed and he is flourishing. No thanks to Anthem. They not only rejected any help we needed from them to help our boy but they made the process EXTREMELY difficult the entire way. Refusing basic services, telling us we couldnt continue to use our private PEDs office weve been with for almost a decade (being in our family for 2 decades) and REFUSED to cover the medication that helps him to function at a normal pace to make/keep friends & understand the world around him. They STILL to this day have not covered a **** ************ DOUBLED our deductible out of no where to $4000!!! Even with my daughter, we thought she had a UTI so we called the insurence in advance bcuz of fear they would reject us due to their track record, they said her visit to the doctor would be covered or would be low cost. We were relieved to hear that. After we went & had everything handled, a week later I end up with a HUGE bill. THEY COVERED NOTHING! So I called & the rudest lady said i was out of luck, & for me to read my EOB next time. I almost vomited. This place is shit! Me and my family are not protected & do not feel safe! I have never been so ****** about spending money for issuance $400 a month just to be told to take a hike!!! Absolutely sickening! Dont ever trust them, their word over the phone and just keep in mind that they are 100% out for themselves & could care less about you or your family!

Needing a Prior authorization on allergy injections that I have taken for 2 years. ******* was denied. Filed appeal. After being transferred to 17 different employees and 4 1/2 hours on the phone, the employees are clueless. Since it is a ********* injection, it has to be under medical. Their staff keeps transferring me to Pharmacy. Pharmacy transfers you to ***************** They don't listen just transfer you so they don't have to work. Several employee argued that a Prior Auth was never filed but I had reference numbers. When they found it, no apology, they don't even talk, just transfer you to someone new and the cycle starts again. My doctor requested a Peer to Peer and was given an non working number. I have called now since 11/8 the total of 9 times and most result in over 3 hours mainly on hold. I still have no prior and no answers. The dr has jumped through all the hoops and still they refuse to speak with the doctor. Finally go told that the allergy shots are not medically necessary but my dr disagrees and which one and the medical degree? This is the worst customer service!! They don't help. They just transfer you. The employees don't even know how to apply for a medical PA.

I'm disabled, I was given the flex card with anthem Blue Cross Blue shield which is my medicare company. I can't afford to budget for food, so I chose, the $50.00 per month healthy food. I had some car problems, and had some doctors appointments coming up. I called Anthem, and asked to switch my healthy food card to the transportation, which was one of the choices. They immediately turn my healthy food court off and told me that in 14 days I would have the transportation this was on May 6th 2022 on June 10th I still have not heard from them about the transportation and the doctor's appointments were coming up. So I called anthem Blue Cross and after they investigated 22 minutes putting me on hold. My healthy food card was shut off immediately however my request for the transportation had not been submitted now I have no ride to my doctor's appointment they said that they would turn back on my healthy food card but I'd have to wait 14 days for to take effect and they would expedite the transportation they knew they screwed up and now I'm blessed without a ride to my doctor's appointments and no food.
