In January of 2023, my catalytic converter was stolen from my car along with my exhaust pipe and two O2 sensors. I brought my car to this shop for the repair work to be done. I paid about $1430 for the work in total. Soon after having this work done, I began smelling exhaust in my car when turning on my heat. My check engine light never came on during this issue so I was not sure what was wrong with the car. I had it inspected multiple times, but no one could tell me what was wrong. After the dealership of my car told me to return to the shop that did the repair work this past April, I explained that the work they did wasn’t done right and I wanted the issue addressed. This shop proceeded to do a smoke test, found exhaust leaks, then claimed the shop responsible for attaching my catalytic converter clamp had put the holes in my converter. I knew this was not true because I was smelling exhaust fumes before my cat clamp was installed. I’d read that new catalytic converters can leave a scent, but three months later I was alarmed when I was still smelling fumes inside my car. I had direct exposure to these fumes. This shop refused to seal the leaks properly, one of which I’ve attached images of along with the receipts stating that all repairs done by them have a 12 month warranty that they refused to adhere to. They also refused to refund me for the smoke test I paid $74 for that was their error in doing to begin with. Even when this shop conducted a smoke test and found exhaust leaks, they did not offer a quote to fix the leaks. This is a repair shop, that is the very least they could have done. I’ve attached images of the other shop checking their work and images of the leak from improper welding by St Louis Truck and Auto. I’ve also attached the receipts from both visits that clearly state a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty on all repairs.
