Owner of Air B&B tried to upcharge for their mistakes and is now harassing myself and my wife for (the owners) husband breaking up our rehearsal and wedding. This was broken up after we had agreed upon a price and the husband of the owner wanted to cause a scene during our rehearsal and bringing in his family to our rehearsal. The owners husband then continued to be extremely rude to myself and my best man when we tried to grab our belongings as we did not want his family going through them. The owner is also now trying to charge us additional money after they (the owner) broke the sewage line and had it leaking into the reception area, and had an expired water filter on the property that we had to get separate water system to not make everyone sick. When I reached out to try and see how we could reach a solution the owner was extremely rude and consistently told me that she made a mistake but that we should pay for it.

      I have attached a copy of the letter to Mr* ******* **** ** ********* ***** *******

****** ***** origin**** contacted me on October 11th regarding renting the location for her daughter's and Mr. ********s wedding.  I asked how many would attend, she stated that is would be a wedding attended by less than 30 people. I replied that it would be perfect for that size of wedding, as it is not a large location and is set up as an Airbnb. I made arrangements to meet them there to see the location. We did a walk-thru on October 27th and ******* **** *** **** all were shown the Airbnb, the greenhouse and we showed them where the ********** ***** *** **** asked about the groomsmen getting ready in the barbershop area and we stated that they could use it to get ready in. We went back into the greenhouse for a second look and we discussed how much I would charge for the wedding, I stated there had been other small events hosted there, but that it would be my first wedding event, they would be my trial and based on that I would only charge them $400 for the wedding. They again stated that it would just be a small wedding less than 30 people and that they might also want to have the reception there. I stated that it probably would not be good for a reception, there would be not enough room and no dance floor. **** said that their idea of a reception would just consist of a small group of friends hanging out and playing video games. ****** felt that it would be great for that and would be nice to rent it for an overnight stay after the event and asked me how much I charge per night, I stated $250 and that I typic**** rent through Airbnb, but if they decided they wanted it overnight they could rent directly through me and not Airbnb. I told them to talk about it and let me know if they wanted it and what date. I received a message that evening that they wanted it and the wedding would be May 28th. I marked the date off of the vacation rental calendars and the next message communication was February 3rd when I got in instant booking notification that someone rented the Airbnb for May 27th, I asked what time they needed to begin decorating for the wedding on the 28th because the other guest had an 11am checkout that day. I began trying to accommodate both parties and ultimately the overnight booking backed out of the rental. ****** messaged that she should have thought of renting it the night before the wedding, she said she had thought of the night of the wedding, but not the night before to get things ready. At that point she sent me an itinerary and started a new group chat between myself, **** and her. I informed her the other guests backed out of the rental on the 27th, the chat between ****** and myself includes the agreement that she wanted also rent the location for the 27th, **** confirmed this on the group message. I let them know I would block it off the calendar. I noticed they had included a rehearsal Brunch in their plans and had asked if it would be at the location or at a restaurant and that I would quote them a price for brunch at my restaurant. They ended up having the brunch at the wedding location. We have been renting the location as a vacation rental since August 2022, we have never included the adjoining building in the rental, it is separated by an enclosed breezeway and a door with a "No Entry, Barbershop with hours of operation" sign. The Barbershop offici**** opened up January 1st, the address of the barbershop is **** ***** **** Avenue and NOT part of any rental of *** ***** **** ****** ********* which is clearly stated on the adjoining interior door between the two locations. **** ****** ********** has it's own address, it's own LLC and EIN. The only reason we allowed **** to get ready in the barbershop was due to the fact that we were former classmates with ****** and made the exception. The day of the wedding ****** asked if the grooms could still get ready in the barbershop, I stated that they could but that none of the equipment could be used and that ******* was going to bring his family there from 11-12 to show them his barbershop, I stated that I would let them know when he was gone and that they could get ready then. **** and ****** both acknowledged and agreed. I knew the wedding wasn't until 6pm, so that would allow plenty of time for them to get ready. My husband pulled into the drive at 10:50am by the barbershop and saw 6 teen boys coming outside, exiting through the barbershop door. When he went inside he found that his equipment (combs, clippers and a brand new can of pomade) had been used. My husband entered the breezeway of the venue and waited for their rehearsal break and politely asked if he could speak to someone in the party. **** politely spoke with him and apologized for the using of his equipment, the conversation was very respectful between the two and my husband went back into his barbershop. The grooms party had two bags sitting on a table in barbershop and had their suits hanging up. My husbands family arrived, the group consisted of his 67 year old Mother, his 72 year old  Aunt, his 70 year old Aunt and his 52 year old Uncle. His Mother and oldest Aunt sat in the Barber chairs, the other Aunt sat in the waiting area chair and my husband and his Uncle sat at the table where two plastic bags had been laying at the opposite end. The family was talking facing each other and away from the plastic bags. **** came into the Barbershop twice saying the barbershop was part of the other buildings wedding rental, my husband calmly stated it was not and that he would be there until 12pm and would inform them when he was leaving, each time **** argued and slammed the door. He then came in and gathered the two bags and the suits, he argued, slammed the door and left. **** sent me a message apologizing for ****'s behavior. At 12:10pm my Husband, ******l, let the women who were in the kitchen know that he was leaving and would be locking the outside door to the barbershop. On the 26th **** messaged me about the total amount due and how to pay, I was on my was back from Lenexa Kansas from an emergency inventory run for my restaurant, I quickly texted a quote of $650 and stated that cost included the Wedding event for $400 and 1 nights rental at $250, I later caught and corrected my mistake and included the fee for the additional overnight stay they booked, which another $250, so the total amount due was $900, **** replied "Thank you". So they rented the location for 3 days, 2 overnights, a wedding, rehearsal brunch and reception for what would be a total of $900. There are messages to back all correspondences described. On May 29th I had asked **** how the location was for the wedding, she said it was perfect and that she had actu**** set up chairs for 90 guests instead of the 30 that we agreed upon, she stated that 60 guests attended. At that time I had not said anything about having twice as many guest because the event was over and because of knowing Brenda. **** and myself were very cordial with each other. On September 30th I sent a message asking about payment. At approximately 11am I received a call on my cell phone, it was **** stating he had questions about the amount owed. I explained to him the price breakdown and he began to argue and told me that I "must have never learned to keep my stupid mouth shut when I am being spoken to" and that I had a "simple mind" . I was just beginning a lunch shift at the restaurant and had my phone on speaker, my staff heard him quickly get verb**** abusive and immediately began recording the conversation with their phones, **** stated he was on a recorded line too. I went through 19 minutes of **** verb**** abusing me and threatening to ruin my businesses and name, the entire conversation was witnessed by staff and recorded and given to my attorney. **** found out during the call that I owned a restaurant, he had never been in the establishment. He later made a bad review for my restaurant as well as the wedding location. On his recording he states that his goal is to "ruin" me, his reviews and his complaint with you were his attempts at doing that. During his call, **** informed me that the water filter on the residential refrigerator was expired, which only shows a light when in use, we don't live there or use it to have seen the notification. The location is on city water, bypassing the filter water dispenser on the residential fridge supplies clean city water that he stated could have made everyone "sick", his "other source" would have come from the kitchen sink, which is also city water. He also mentioned the sewer, we have never has a sewer issue the entire time we have owned it or rented it to guests, so I asked him why he did not call us when the back up happened, he stated it was because he didn't want to upset his wife. He stated that they could not use half of the building because of that, however the pictures and signs of obvious usage indicate that the entire facility was utilized, except for the basement which is used for storage and the hot water heater. The cleaning lady can verify. We had a plumber address the sewage issue and they stated that the plumbing was not designed to accommodate 60 people using the facility, they stated the water flow would have overwhelmed the pipes and it had no choice but to overflow into the basement to relieve itself. The plumber stated the drains were clear and that the overflow had came up and stayed around the basement drain. The debris was confirmation to them of the extreme amount of use, 7 rolls of toilet paper had been used during the event as well as the kitchen sink draining, they also found baby wipes had been flushed according to the plumber. The plumber did not have to clear any lines, they just cleared away the overflow and we have pictures to prove it. My attorney sent **** a golden rule letter stating his intent to sue for liable/slander, we are waiting for **** to make things right and the attorney will proceed if he does not.
