The company I originally went with was ***********. They wanted to put solar panels on my roof. They said they would give me money if I put solar panels on my roof. We agreed to $60 a month on the solar panels. It was on 6/24/2023, I paid them $245 and they accepted it. Then they sent a letter saying they wanted $171 a month. We never signed any letters and I never promised anything. I told them I am not going to pay it. I was waiting for them to take the panels off the roof so stopped paying them. They accepted the $60 and now they said I am behind $900. They put on my credit report that I owe $52,000. I waited several months, they put a lien on my house for $58,000. I called up the credit card company and they said to call the H363137**3238313831H. They sent me a letter saying I promised to pay this amount and sent it to the credit card company. They said it was out of their hands. I tried to refinance my home but can&#**;t because of the lien placed on it. I want them to take the panels off the roof or to take the $60 a month to pay for the solar panels.

Customer complains that Bright Oaks (sic)  "wanted to put solar panels on" his roof and further, that *********** (sic) would give him money if the solar panels were put onto his roof.  In response, BrightOak, a ******** of ************* states that it is a Missouri state chartered bank that provides financing for solar energy systems under the tradename of  BrightOak and Lumifi.  BrightOak does not make any sales in a person's home. Instead, a solar sales company will initally sell a customer a solar energy system.  If, and only if, a customer needs financing does BrightOak communicate with a customer. Customers must then apply for financing/credit through BrightOak's online portal. Once a customer decides to purchase a solar energy system from a solar sales company, but cannot afford it without financing help, BrightOak may provide financing depending on if the customer passes certain credit requirements.  At no time did BrightOak make a representation that it wanted to put solar panels on Customer's roof or that it would give Customer money if solar panels were installed on his roof.  In addition, Customer complains that he never signed any letters or promised anything.  However, a contract was entered into by and between BrightOak and Customer that fully details the terms and conditions of the financing.  Further, Customer proceeded to allow the solar sales company that initially sold the solar energy system to Customer to install the system on the roof over Customer's residence.  The installation process took place over several months BrightOak paid the solar sales company on behalf of the Customer based on installation milestones. Customer also complains about BrightOak reporting to credit agencies and a lien on his house.  Per the contract that Customer signed, BrightOak, as a bank, will indeed report on a borrower's credit report if they refuse to make payments on a financed solar energy system.  Moreover, the contract expressly provides that a lien will be placed on the solar energy equipment and not the Customer's home in order to protect the BrightOak's interest in the solar energy system.

I called them and was on hold for 25 minutes.  Then I called again and again and they hung up on me.  It is not my signature on any of the papers.  They cancelled my loan.

Please be advised that Lumifi, a ******** of ************* does not sell or install solar panels.  Instead, Lumifi, offers financing in the form of loans or leases to residential homeowners who desire to finance or lease a solar energy system.  We have spoken to the customer on several occasions and emphasized repeatedly that we never offered any money to install solar panels on the customer's roof.  Customer dealt with a separate company that sells and installs solar energy systems.  OakStar is not present during the sales process.  It is only after the sale is complete and the customer indicates that he or she needs financing that Lumifi offers its products.  In order to obtain financing, the customer is required to fill out an online credit application through Lumifi's portal.  Lumifi will then conduct a review of the application and if the customer satisfies **********************'s underwriting requirements, Lumifi will provide a provisional approval for customer's application.  ********************** will then conduct additional verification steps, including but not limited to a review of customer's identification, credit score and ownership of his or her residence.  If all is acceptable, Lumifi will then fund a construction project for the installation of the solar energy system.  In this instance, the customer agreed to our financing agreement, which was provided to him.  The solar energy system was subsequently installed by the solar sales company and is currently operating.  Customer is receiving the benefits of a functional solar energy system that provides energy to his residence.  However, the customer has failed to make several payments to Lumifi and is currently in arrears.  Lumifi has referred customer to a collection attorney due to the customer's refusal to bring his payments current.
