In December of 2021 I went to Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and began prenatal care with their internal women's health center. In January I filled out a form beginning a payment plan. In February my husband added me to his insurance, and I updated the clinic at my next appointment. The person that had been in charge of billing was no longer employed, a temp was filling in, but my insurance was successfully added. In July my child was born via cesarean section, and my primary insurance was billed. I received a bill in September for 3,775.10. I immediately contacted the billing department, and was told there was a problem billing my insurance. (I have screenshots of my correspondences with Baptist.) They told me I needed to provide them with my insurances again, and tell them who the primary insurance was. So, I did. Even though I'd been billed for all of my visits before this point without issue. I then recieved another notice, saying I still owed 3,775.10. I contacted them again. They told me on March 24th 2023 that my secondary insurance stated "Lacks info needed for adjudication. No 2ndary pmt w/o primry payr info" I was advised to reach out to my secondary insurance to update COB. So, I did. I have screenshots from my secondary insurance stating they received my claim and did not reject it. My balance to be paid showed in their system as 1018.40. I reached out to billing, again. Billing told me Baptist needed an updated EOB, because they showed no record of payment from my secondary insurance. (April 2023) Now, I've received a bill from collections for 3775.10. I'm actively attempting to resolve this-- accordinf to both my primary and secondary insurances-- I do not owe Baptist 3775.10 but they're harassing me for it nonetheless. I'm happy to pay what I owe, Baptist has NEVER billed me without being paid before, I went to Baptist for my medical needs for the duration of my college career. At this point, I should be billing for my time on this.
