I made a purchase from Guns.com on August 5th using Credova thinking I'll take advantage of the 90 day interest free option which is a scam as Credova passed my contract over to ******** Financial and paying off my loan is impossible. I went on ********'s site to payoff half of my $558 loan. I was only restricted to pay the minimum of $59.96 even after typing in the desired amount I'd like to pay. I also got charged a $10 fee. I looked on the site and there's an 877 number to call to make or cancel payments. I called this number and got transfered to collections. The guy at collections then sent me back and I got hung up on. I also called Credova and they wanted to transfer me back to Monterey with an "oh I'm sorry, we don't take payments here". I shouldn't have to go through 30+ minutes of my lunch to payoff a debt. This is painful and very unprofessional.Business response

Dear **********************,
We have reviewed your account in its entirety while working closely with Monterey Financial to get a better understanding of your experience exercising the 90 Day Interest Free option.
Montereys consumer web portal allows consumers to make a one-time payment for their contractual payment amount and provides consumers the ability to authorize a one-time payment for any amount that differs from their contractual payment amount. We apologize for any confusion or frustration you may have experienced while attempting to make your payment via the consumer portal.
Regarding your claim of being hung up on, we can confirm that the call you placed was to Montereys collections and was then transferred to Loan Servicing. The representative preceded to solicit with whom they were speaking;however, it was deemed dead air as the agent was unable to hear anyone on the other line.
Our records indicate you called ******** back and spoke with a representative on 9/9/2022, the same day you stated you experienced an issue with the consumer web portal. During review of this call there was no issue or concerns brought up regarding the attempted website payment. We can confirm that the rep deleted your web payment of $69.96 and successfully processed your payment amount of $558.28 to satisfy your 90 Interest Free Offer. You did not incur a processing fee, as stated on Page 4 of your contract, fees are not applicable to payments made to exercise any interest free option. At this time, your account has been marked paid in full and you do not owe anything further.
Again, we apologize for the frustration you may have experienced in paying off your account. Should you have any further questions,or we can assist you in anyway, please reach out to our customer support team that is available 6Am to 6PM PST, 7 days a week, reachable at ************.
Sincerely,

Dear **************:
Credova Financial, LLC (Credova) has received your concern that your contract was the result of identity theft. Credova takes these types of complaints very seriously. Credova has conducted an internal investigation and reviewed its records against the information provided by you in this complaint and, at this time, Credova does not believe the contract to be the result of identity theft.
Credovas records show that you signed Contract Number ********** (sent on 8.30.2022 to *****************) on May 25, 2019. Credova understands its obligation to verify a consumers identity and uses multiple tools to confirm a consumers identity. Credovas records show that personal information you provided in this complaint matches the information provided at the time the contract was originated, including email, phone number, and address. Credovas records also show that the email address you provided in your complaint was the email that was used to access and sign the contract. In addition, Credovas records show that PuppySpot, the merchant that originated the contract, collected copies of your identification documents. Moreover, the contract relates to the purchase of a dog, which was shipped to the ******* airport, where identity verification information was required to obtain the dog from airport authorities. Finally,Credovas servicers records show that the servicer discussed this account with you on September 2019 and you acknowledged the existence of the contract. For these reasons, Credova does not believe the contract to be the result of identity theft.

I am rejecting this response because: I did not authorize, this signature, it is common in a identity theft case for an email address to be compromised. I also do not omit to this debt. Original document states owed balance $1500, during the pandemic when banks and business were closed this account went into collections and I am now being harassed over disclosures. I am being denied my right to due process. I do not owe anyone $***** *** ****. This amount for ***** was not in the original document. These are statements below showing that I the agreed amount is ***** estimated. I did not agree and there was not a disclosure made in the original contract that was electronically added. My bank statement shows the first legit payment.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. ********************* have reviewed your response and continued our investigation into your allegation that this contract was the result of identity theft. At this time, we strongly believe that this contract was not the result of identity theft.
In your response you allege that your email account was compromised and you did not authorize the signature on the contract. As mentioned in our initial response, Credova uses multiple tools to confirm a consumers identity. Credovas records show that it used a third-party identity verification tool that returned a report showing that the information provided in the application is consistent with the information associated with your bank account and was not at high risk of identity theft. In addition, the applicant responded correctly to several out-of-wallet questions used to verify an applicants identity. Moreover, as mentioned in our initial response, the merchant that originated the contract, PuppySpot, collected copies of your identification documents. Moreover, as we previously noted, this contract relates to the purchase of a pet, which was shipped to the ******* airport, where identity verification information was required to obtain the pet from airport authorities. Finally, Credova has reviewed an audio recording of a call between a person who identifies himself as *********************** and acknowledges the existence of the contract and receipt of the dog using the contact information associated with your contract and this complaint. You have not provided any additional evidence that the contract was the result of identity theft, such as providing a police report. Instead, you have provided an excerpt of a bank statement showing a debit card purchase in May 2019 for a $49.99 payment to Puppyspot, which corresponds to the First monthly payment of $49.99 shown on the contract. Indeed, your complaint mentions that your bank statement shows the first legit payment, which suggests you acknowledge that you did owe additional payments for the pet. As such, it does not appear that the contract was the result of your email being comprised. As such, Credova is does not believe this contract is the result of identity theft and was authorized by you.
Finally, you suggest that there was some discrepancy between the original contract owed balance and the current owed balance because the document states the owed balance $1500 and the current owed amount is over $6,000. However, there is no discrepancy. In the image you provided, there is an agreed upon value of the pet you purchased if you were to pay in cash at the time of purchase (i.e., $2,498.00). You, however, chose to finance the purchase through the contract by making monthly payments. As disclosed in the Total of Payments box in the Federal Consumer Leasing Act Disclosures, the total amount you would owe over the life of the contract would be $6,248.38.
As previously noted, Credova no longer owns this contract. If you would like to discuss your contract with ************************, please contact it directly.
Sincerely,
Credova Financial, LLCInitial Complaint

I found credova via buds gun shop. I checked them out and decided NOT to use them. I purchased the firearm I was looking at paid in full via my bank account. They are now claiming I owe them $507 and will start auto debiting my account the payments I WOULD have had if I made the purchase through them. Buds gun shop clearly shows all 4 guns I have bought are paid 100% in full via my bank account. Every time I call credova hangs up on me saying they can't hear me, this is of course after they collect info to see this fraudulent account.Business response

Looked at credova app a few days after contract had expired to make sure account had closed and showed owing another ******. Have repeatedly tried calling and sending emails with nobody answering and no response to emailsBusiness response

5/27/22 offered interest free financing for 3 months based on a pre approval. Purchased through Classic Firearms and parts were to be sent to a local gun shop. Parts shipped on 5/29/22, on 6/1/22 Credova emailed a "contract" to me. This contract said that I had to pay $1200 on the $300 parts that had been shipped out. I immediately called Credova and Classic Firearms and canceled the order. The parts were automatically returned by the dealership without me ever recieing them. I was told the order was canceled. On 6/13/22, I recieved an email requesting $77 to cancel the contract. I called and explained I had never entered into a contract, they said that I had or they never would have mailed out the parts. I explained that I had proof via email that the contract was disclosed to me AFTER the parts were shipped and I immediately canceled the order. They are trying to get me to pay $77 or the $1200 for merchandise I never received.I expect that the company zeros out the account, as I never took merchandise from them and owe them nothing.Business response
