I signed up for a gym membership at Fit for Life in *******,** for myself and my minor son on 2/7/24 as well as 6 small group training sessions. Upon completion of the training I was billed for an additional month. I contacted the gym and was told that the agreement was to automatically renew on a monthly basis unless I cancelled the service. The gym manager said he was unable to cancel services and that it had to be done via email through Peak Payment. I was billed an additional $140 for the month of September. The payment of $128 continued on my sons account. I contacted ************ and asked that all services be canceled that were billed to my debit card. The $128 continued to be billed on my sons account even after contacting them. After speaking to a customer service representative today I was informed that my membership and training were canceled in September and that since I didnt specifically request that my sons account stop I would be billed an additional monthly gun fee and training fee for February and then the contract would end. This service was billed to my account and my son is 16 years old so I dont believe we should be billed. I was charged an additional $640 above the services I agreed to and will be charged another $128 before the service stopped. The gym refers all questions to Peak Payment and the customer service representative there informed me they can not refund the charges and that I should speak to the gym. Upon doing so I was again referred back to Peak Payment. I have been billed every month for services I did not receive and have not met with a trainer since August. The unfair billing and difficulty in stopping the payment are the reason for this complaint. I would like to be refunded for the services I did not receive and for the predatory billing practices of these companies to be noted. Thank you.Initial Complaint

I signed up for fit for life. I was supposed to have gotten one free personal training session. They billed me for I addressed this in the beginning they said no problem it will be resolved. It was never resolved. I called the new general manager, because apparently the old one wasnt doing his job told him I wanted to cancel everything and told him about the situation, and they are billing me for services never rendered, but they relentlessly draft my account every month and refuse to cancel my services which I requested at the end of March 2024. I have yet to meet with a personal trainer except for the one time they got my weight and was not supposed to charge me for that but they dead. I have contacted them several times to quit and they refused to quit so I dont know what else to do. I have to cancel my bank card and I have filed a complaint with my bank so they will not take out any more payments against them but they are still telling me I owe them $45 a month and they will not stop billing me for services never renderedInitial Complaint

I have been trying to cancel this membership for almost half a year now. I formally cancelled through email per the gyms request for 2 joint memberships I have through them in November 2023. Since then, they have taken my card off file and I was not being charged. However I started getting calls for a missed payment for a single membership. The email I have clearly requested the a count be canceled and closed. Not just one person. Today I received another phone call requesting $75 payment for the missed months and was told my account is STILL open and I would need to close it again via email, which they state it takes 2 months for the account to close completely. They still had my card on file and still have not cancelled my membership on their end. So I am going on 6 months of payments come April 2024, IF they actually close it this time, for a gym I requested to cancel I. November of 2023. This is a nightmare and Ive never had an issue cancelling any other memebrships my entire adult life.Initial Complaint

I am trying to cancel a 2022 membership and they keep adding months. I do understand that I signed for a one month contract when I contacted in June of 2023 to cancel membership and now they are saying another 60 days is to be added because there was no notification request days before contract ended. I have not used my membership ship in over 6 months so along with the prior communication and no use of membership it should have been understood that I wanted to cancel and not renew. Please get me my monies back for this u l used membership.Business Response

************ signed up for a 12 month membership with us and per his signed membership agreement, it states that there is a 60 day notice required for cancellation. Because the cancellation process was not completed by the members, they accrued a balance on their account. After some conversations with Mr and ************, to avoid any further inconvenience, we have let them know that their balance has been cleared and their memberships have been cancelled (effective) immediately and they will not be charged anything else moving forward. Please let us know if you need any more information on this matter.

I purchased a 1 year membership. Later 2 personal training contracts were added to my membership. I informed the desk that they were not mine and needed to be removed. I had to send several emails to finally have someone say they were handling it. A few months later I start getting emails that my payment didnt go through. The payment was not mine as the contract was not mine. I emailed to let them know this was not correct nor mine. There is now a $90 charge on my account because of this confusion. I paid for a 1 yr regular gym membership and that was it. Everything after that is not mine. Now I cant use the membership I did pay for because there is a charge due that is not mine. Please fix this issue so that I can use my regular membership again.Initial Complaint

Continue to take money without permission and will not let me do the buy out. They are sending me to collections in September, they tell me everytime I call but will not let me do the buy out and be done. I dont want this on my credit reportInitial Complaint

I have tried canceling my membership with this business on several separate accounts in accordance with their cancellation policy and they have continued to fraudulently charge me. They refuse to return my calls and they signed me up for a two year contract without my consent.Business Response

After reviewing the account for *******************, it appears that the proof of move document that he provided for Fit4life is non-compliant with the cancelation policies emailed to him on 11/29/2021. Cancelation policies state that an individual must be outside of a 25-mile radius from any fit4life location. ******************* is within that 25-mile radius, after moving and does not qualify for early cancelation at this time.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: I verbally told the Fit4Life employee upon registering for a membership that I did not want to sign up for a long term membership. They agreed that I could pay per month and cancel at any time, no questions asked. They lied to me and signed me up for a membership that does not terminate until next November. I did not agree to this and would like them to cancel.
Sincerely,

I joined the Fit4Life gym and signed up for a 1-year membership contract starting in June 2022 as well as signing up for two months of exercise coaching. I considered canceling my membership in July 2022 but the manager at the time (Manager #1) told me that I could change my exercise coaching if I wanted to and just take it month by month. However, he did not follow up on this conversation and I was overcharged by over $200 for three consecutive months for exercise coaching I didn't receive and had requested to end. On October 18, 2022 I spoke to a different manager (Manager #2) because the previous manager no longer worked there. This manager (#2) said they could not refund me for overcharging me, and could only give me credit. I told this manager that I did not want to continue my membership because they had not kept their commitment and the manager (#2) told me I would not be charged when my credit ran out and that we could talk again before being charged for my membership. On November 6, 2022 I sent an email to the corporate Fit4Life office about not being able to receive a refund and never received a response. On January 2, 2023 I started being charged again for my membership. There was a new manager (#3) who was not aware of any of these previous conversations with the former managers. He said he talked to their corporate office and that the corporate office would follow up with me, but they never did. The new manager (#3) said I will have to pay over $400 for a buyout fee to terminate my membership even though the previous managers have never kept their previous commitments.Initial Complaint

Personal trainer service had not been provided after weeks of management contact. Management claimed to freeze account yet payments for services unprovided were still coming in. Requested end of trainer service and management had ignored requests. Called the third party payment service PEAK to cancel membership and provided information already confirmed by their live service staff to be grounds for valid cancellation and an email was received that day claiming I am still under contract and nothing can be done.Initial Complaint

I signed a membership contract for 1 year, I turned down they Physical Training offer and was given 12 free training sessions for signing up with fit 4 life. My contract was only for 29.99 a month. My money was coming out of a card that I knew exactly how much went in and only had 2 auto payments coming out of it, so I didn't think I had to check it. After getting sick and having doctors tell me I couldn't work out, I tried to cancel my membership multiple times even with a Doctor's note. No one would help me. Then come to find out, not only have they been pulling money out of my account from a card that expired in 2021, they have also been charging me 45.00 a month for PT that I have never used and didn't sign a contract for. over the years, they have taken $3,089.78 from my account. No matter who i have called they refuse to let me speak to a manager or a regional manager. I was told from a friend, the only way he stopped them from stealing his money was not getting a new card, they still were able to access his bank account somehow, so he had to completely shut down that bank account and get a new one. Now they are attacking his credit. It is unacceptable that they can do whatever they want and said that there isn't anyone who will help me. I have a more detailed written out explanation about this in detail from start in 2019 to now. After 3 years of no help and them taking my money, I am reaching out to you. I can get all the documents you need, but for no I need this to stop and for them to stop taking my money. I look forward to hearing from you.
