      Complaint Type:
      Service or Repair Issues
      Status:
      Resolved
In December 2022, I had the misfortune of dealing with one of your dealers in ********, **. My driver was complaining about the check engine light in my **** Freightliner FLD Classic. Then the Shut Down Light came on and the driver pulled to the side of the road where the truck shut down. (The truck would restart in this condition) He called Excel Truck Group who suggested that he bring it to them. They did a COMPLIMENTARY INSPECTION and determined that the coolant level code caused the issue. They suggested to do an Overlay of the coolant level circuit and then road test. This required them to cut two seven feet long wires and replace them. After the process they called me and said the truck would not accelerate and requested $7000 to make repairs. Initially they requested $1350, ($850 to start) to do the Overlay now they were requesting $7000 to fix a problem that did not exist when the truck was bought in, and they wanted 75% before starting, ($5250) At that point I made arrangements to get the truck towed back to ********, **. They charged me $250 to reassemble the truck, which should not have been disassembled. The Driver paid the $1600 but noticed that the check engine light was still on, as he moved the truck in position for the tow. (Truck idled ONLY, he put it in reverse and eased off clutch)After getting the truck towed to ********, ($1400) the mechanic found a freshly cut wire leading to the accelerator, which he connected, and the truck started accelerating. He also noticed that the Overlay wires were installed incorrectly, which when corrected the Check engine light went off. Truck is now functioning as it should, for the cost of $325.00.In conclusion:1.The truck would have been accelerating if they had not cut the wire. 2. If they had installed the overlay wires correctly, the check Engine light would be functioning.3.The $1400 tow fee would not exist if they had repaired the Overlay correctly.

I had my oil pressure sensor changed at another shop. They told me to take it to a freightliner to get ecm updated or check the batteries or working. Excel is The worst! I took my truck up there Monday of last wk told them I already had an inspection done so Ik whats wrong and what I needed was ecm checked and or updated and checking of the wires and batteries. The guy I had on recording the whole time , I asked when what will be the price to have those items I listed checked he told me ****** so I left it called all wk never got a phone call they chose to email you because they know they full of it! I go a qoute stating they checked everything like my filter ect stuff that was on park work already that I gave them saying thats 400 and they need an additional 600 something to actually check wires ecm and batteries. How they doing extra stuff talking about 2hrs of labor by checking everything but what specifically ask them to check. They tried to lie and say they told me they do they own inspection upfront he never told me that . I have recording that show he didnt! Or else I wouldnt bothered. So manager in maintenance part not office told me he will check my batteries at no charge then was told it was ***** per battery for 4 of them with labor 600 and something I said fine. That was the only thing I was paying for something I actually ask them to do. They told us it will be done by 12pm. My friend went up there around 1 to check on truck he was told batteries was instead 150 each including labor wouldve been over 1000$ they not slick. They still was trying to he is to pay that extra 400 something for the bs I didnt ask them to do. So my friend said he caused a seen and they want me to come get my truck. I was doing that anyway and was going to bring police with me Because I have recordings on what all of them was telling me. I was told by guys in office that nothing of what I asked been done but was told over the phone by manager it has been done. We know for a fact nothing has been touched or checked but batteries because we have dust everywhere on truck and around engine . There isnt a smear or nothing just the same but the dust was removed from some parts of batteries. Their inspection had the same thing I had on my inspection I showed them smh God doesnt like ugly. They charge everyone 350.off top just to stare at your truck. Not touch just look. A shame! Will not take my truck here again. This is the 2nd time they tried to s**** us over. They covered up the 1st time by giving me some of my money back because they know they are wrong!
