The unit started at 90$/mo, within the last year Securcare had raised the rate up to 150$/mo plus rental insurance. There has been constant dirt and debris blown in by their workers, the state of these units is quite grimy. But last summer it got much worse. They had a sand blasting company come to make the outside look nice- which blasted a lot of paint, mud, dirt, sand into my until and all over my furniture (despite my own attempts to cover everything in plastic because of the bad state of these units). (pics attached) I asked for a rate decrease due to the damage and because I've been unemployed in the pandemic. I also pay them an additional 9$/mo to "insurance." I filed with the insurance company the evidence of the damage, many many months of runaround they kept claiming it was mold despite pictures and verification from Securcare that it was 3rd party contractors/sandblasting. The insurance has now denied money to fix the damage. Securcare lowered my rate for a few months but they said they would keep it at the 10$ month (140 plus insurance) rate. I just got notice that after that brief lower rate they were not in fact keeping it at the rate and jacking it up to 160/mo plus insurance now. I've paid all these years of insurance only to have no one pay out for the damage they caused. And now my rate is almost double what I started, for even worse conditions. I need a fixed lower rate (if anything I'm still unemployed from the pandemic and this is a significant bill for me) and damages to make up for the sandblasting degradation (and constant grime) to my furniture.
