As much as I hate to say it, This place really doesn’t even deserve one star to be quite honest. My children have attended drop n play for the last 3 years for both after school care as well as summer camp, and it has definitely been an eye opening experience. I didn’t realize until recently that drop n play isn’t required to be licensed. So basically, there is no governing body or agency that is regulating how this place is run. They don’t have to follow any guidelines and there is no one who checks to make sure children are being properly cared for and supervised while at this facility. While they do go on a LOT of field trips, but they’re going to busy places like Wet n wild and Carowinds and great wolf lodge while being supervised by a bunch of high school kids. Our first summer there, there was a physical altercation that took place between two of the “counselors “, the next summer, my child was left sleeping and unattended on a parked school bus, and no one even noticed he was missing until I came to pick him up. Last school year, when the power went out, a counselor told the kids they weren’t allowed to use the restroom indoors, and when my autistic son couldn’t hold it and used the restroom, the counselor told him that he needed to pick up his own excrement out of the toilet and take it outside. They are supposed to serve the children lunch and snacks in the summer, but the lunches are the free lunches that guilford county school system offers in the summer, and snacks are potato chips and marshmallows. The facility itself is a dilapidated old log cabin that alway looks dirty, and on several occasions my daughter came home with an ice pop that she claimed was her “reward” for cleaning the bathroom. George the owner is like a snake oil salesman. He’s a smooth talker and says what you want to hear, but it’s all talk. He’s in this for the money. This just isn’t a good environment, especially if your child has any sort of special needs.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention-in regard to our Afterschool or summer program please note that we far exceed any ratio that the state requires for their “licensed” daycare programs. I’m sorry to first hear of your concerns with our program after your kids have been in attendance for the last three years. We have a strict no bullying policy in place so that all of our kids have a great time at Drop-Play. Our staff is vetted with background checks and required to be CPR and FA certified, in addition to playground and water safety. We have prided ourselves over the past 15 years in providing a SAFE and professional atmosphere for our after schoolers and campers at all times.
