I have been contacted almost every day, multiple times a day, with different phone numbers. They use scare tactics and are down right rude. When asked to place me on their Do not call list I was specifically told that We dont have to, that doesnt apply to us and hung up on. I just want them to quit contacting meCustomer Answer

A COMPLETE CLOWN SHOW! For the past 2 months, I have had to provide my debit card number and per usual the payment was not drafted on the agreed upon date (i.e. 27th of each month)! In March and in April (i.e. this month) I have had money in my account to align with the payment arrangement with Stern Recovery Services, and yet again their broken system has failed to draft the payment. Not to mention, my account manager is completely incompetent and instead of him investigating it, he simply blames the sky, stars, and moon for the fact that the payment did not draft successfully. With every other collection agency, I have not had this problem except for Stern Recovery Services in lieu of the fact that each and every time I request for them to send me an accurate account verification statement, they send the letter out and insinuate that my payment is past due, when in reality the payment(s) have not been deducted because of their broken system! I am so tired of their s**** a** agents not doing what I asked especially when I set up the payment arrangement and the payments have been processing successfully up until this point. If the payments are not being drafted at no fault of my own, then why is Stern Recovery Services allowing it's agents to do and say whatever when it comes to the payments not drafting correctly? It is extremely uncomfortable to have to constantly provide my debit card information over the phone month after month, and nothing is done about it and as a client I my bank is blamed, and I am blamed for payments not drafting correctly. To ensure that no one else has a clown show experience with this entity, I also filed a complaint with the (CFPB) Consumer Finance Protection Bureau Complaint ID#: *************** and plan to file a compliant with the NC Attorney State General since Stern Recovery Services has malicious, heinous, deceptive, unethical business practices relative to managing accounts appropriately.Business Response

We have responded to the consumer's CFPB complaint back in April. The response to this complaint will be the same--our collector did speak with the consumer on 02.28.23--and she gave us new card information--and February's payment went through. Unfortunately, the collector inverted a number and the March payment required a callback to the consumer to get the credit card information again---which we did and ran March's payment. The consumer requested a letter at this time detailing the information submitted as an attachment to this complaint (SRS_Incorrect). We ran April's pay without any issues and plan on running May's pay on the 27th. Let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist with these accounts.Initial Complaint

Stern recovery services is claiming I owe laboratory fee for GPA labs services, I have sued for currently. I have no contract presently with these people and my attorneys have successfully sued these laboratories for knowingly committing fraud when no services were rendered for me. They are to remove both false collections immediately before counsel gets involved.Business Response

Back in 2020 (?) I hurt my knee and was seen at a walk in clinic at first health 3 times. I was told that I should be able to get some financial help since I did not have insurance. I never heard anything else about the bill. A week ago I found out my credit score was low when I was trying to rent an apartment ( despite paying off a loan I had) and I did not know why. Checking further I found sterns collections on my credit report noting the first health of the Carolinas bill for 1372.00, 1393.00, and 1541.00 This is the first I had any amount owed info from the hospital and the first time I had ever seen the name sterns at all. I never received any notification or paperwork from them that they were putting anything on my credit report. Do I have any recourse since the hospital or sterns never notified me about the debt or a collection agency putting it on my credit report.Business Response

Stern recovery services has placed 5 medical collections on my credit reports without any letters, no calls, and no FCRA required effort period. They have intentionally mislabeled their collections to not be identified as medical because as of July 2022 all Medical collections were supposed to be removed from the credit reports. ***** ****** ** *** ********* is currently being sued by me and my team of lawyers due to their actions in my wife’s death November of last year. They have committed fraud and therefore Stern Recovery is committing fraud for trying to collect on medical fees that were not agreed to before the services were conducted and my rights were intact at the time of those services. There are NO signatures on file with ***** ****** ** *** **********. But Stern Recovery has violated the FCRA by not contacting me via letter, phone, or any other required means the FCRA and the FTC requires. My same attorneys that are working with me on *** ***** ****** fraud/death suit will also be coming after Stern Recovery Services if they do not cease and Desist and remove any and all collection activity violating the FCRA for myself. There will be a daily penalty ask for their intentional reporting of incorrect information on accounts that have not been verified with a signature. 5 collections on ******* for the same ***** ****** ** *** ********* and the same on the other bureau’s. This is going to be a costly mistake and a ground breaking litigation. You are required by LAW, before you report anything to the bureaus, to contact the person identified who allegedly owes a medical debt. You have not done that. What you have done is intentional, it’s malicious, and it violates the FCTA and you will face litigation for this reporting since it’s inception.Business Response

I am writing to your office to please help me to resolve this clear violation of my consumer rights by Stern Recovery Services. They are unfairly and inaccurately reporting on my Consumer report and it is negatively affecting my character, my mood of living, and my general reputation. I have been damaged as a result of their unfair and inaccurate reporting. I have exercised my specified remedy, notice of debt validation, (Pursuant Regulation F, 12 CFR 1006) several times with no response. On August 16, 2022 I sent a notice of debt validation, (Pursuant Regulation F, 12 CFR 1006, 15 USC 1692) as well as Cease and desist all forms communication with me pursuant 12 CFR 1006(c)(1) . Stern Recovery Services have violated my Rights pursuant 12 CFR 1006.34(c). They have failed to provide all the required Documentation as per my request under the new rule Regulation F and Validation of debt. The law is explicitly clear, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Stern Recovery Services’s 30 day Debt validation period has ended and they FAILED TO PROVIDE ALL REQUIRED validation Information AS PER THE LAW 12 CFR 1006.34(c) Validation information. Pursuant to paragraph (a)(1) of this section, a debt collector must provide the following validation information. Stern Recovery Services have violated my Rights pursuant 12 CFR 1006(c)(1). They have failed to cease and desist all forms of communication with me. They are still trying to communicate with me through furnishing unfair and inaccurate information on my consumer report. All collection activities on this Alleged Debt that they failed to provide validation within the 30 day period allowed by Federal law Pursuant 12 CFR 1006.34(c) Must be DELETED Immediately.
