On 4/22/21, a specialist, whom I had seen for severe back pain, sent me for an MRI of my spine. Eastern Radiology called me within the hour, to ensure that my insurance information was correct. It took a few tries of inputting the information to get it correct. I was told that they needed to submit a preauthorization to make sure that I wouldn't be stuck with the whole expensive cost. I contacted their billing department every single month, following my first bill that I received in 6/21. At first, the issue was that it had not been submitted through my insurance, and that I was being left with the full amount. Each time I called, they gave me a runaround answer, but assured me they were trying to fix it. Nothing was ever fixed. In 12/21, I called again, explained the same issue to them, and after she questioned if I had bothered to call them prior (I had), I was told that she didn't know what to tell me, but that I was going to be stuck paying the bill myself - for their error of the bill not being sent through insurance in time. On 2/22, I called again. The initial woman, just as unhelpful as previous attempts, forwarded me to the voicemail of her manager. They explained to me that in 11/21, my insurance refused to cover it because it did not cover "joint replacements" (this was not a joint replacement issue). After much back and forth, she put her manager on the phone. The manager repeated the same information to me, this time mentioning my new insurance company's name. I explained that the insurance she was referring to, was not the insurance that I had at the time of the MRI procedure. Not only that, but now they stated that no preauthorization was ever sent! They seemed very lost and disorganized, and told me that I'd have to contact my previous insurance company, and try to get them to cover it. Essentially, they want me to do the "job" that they get paid to do, but clearly cannot. And due to their negligence, they claim I'm stuck with a bill of $1,564.
