I rented my 5x10 unit in 2008. Cheap enough at $40.00/month. Today, online, that same unit is $60.00/month. Sounds reasonable. HOWEVER, I am paying $******/month. Rate increases 10 times over the last 9 months. Verbal confirmation that rates WILL INCREASE EVERY 6 MONTHS.Today, there was confusion about whether or not I had a unit that had been combined. I was called and told my unit (204) was unlocked. I went out, and my unit was locked. 203 was unlocked AND unnumbered. After talking to mgt,, she told me I had a unit that was combined years ago. I assured her I only had the 5x10. After checking, she said it was probably 202, since there was no 203 in the system. I questioned whether I had actually been charged correctly since she was sure I had a combined unit- (meaning a 5x10 times 2, which might account for the EGREGIOUS rate increases), but she said no. She did however say I did have the larger unit on more than one occasion. I questioned the rates which are $60.00/mo for my unit, vs my ****** I am being charged, ONLINE. I have received THREE phone calls this afternoon attempting tonegotiate a deal on rate. (Moving to 206 for $60/mo, owner waiving fees of increase THIS time) I am more convinced than ever this is an actual SCAM. Owner can never be reached. Always an excuse. Rates up EVERY SIX MONTHS, at exorbitant rates. Ask for history of rates, and they are LIMITED as to what they have. Owner will not respond to emails. Absolutely a disgusting business practice. Manager on duty clearly knows it is a disgrace and can barely get a sentence out without stammering. Ive called multiple storage units in the area, and ZERO have this practice. I have two other units, which I have had for 20 years- much larger and NICER- which I pay nearly the same $ for. In 20 years, I have had a rate increase 5 times. (VS 10 times in the last 9 months!) I believe I have been purposefully overcharged the business practices of this establishment are dishonest.
