I bought a car at Randy Marion in Hky. I paid $13,000 cash. A few weeks after buying the car, it started jumping and had to buy a transmission for it. Then on top of that problem I had to put it back in the garage for a turbo problem. I've spent $18,300 on a piece of junk. They have bad reviews and people are getting stuck with these junkyard cars. I want my money back so I can buy something dependable.Business Response

On March 14th I traded in a 2012 *********************** and a 2013 **** Focus equaling $4000 plus $3000 in cash for a down payment of $7000 on a 2017 ******* Sonata with a cash value of $16,097.03 leaving $9097.03 left owed on the car. Then I added an extended warranty to it for $3461.25 bringing it up to $12,558.28 left to finance. On April 5th I messaged Randy Marion asking about the extended warranty because I had noticed the car ***** about 1qt of oil every other day. They gave me the name of a place to call so I called and made an appointment. On May 16th I took the car and dropped it off, with no loaner car or anything. A week later on May 23rd went to pick up the car because they said the extended warranty people are saying ******* warranty should pay for it and vice versa. So I left there knowing nothing new and paying $88.60 for their diagnostic fee and them saying it needed a new motor. Told Randy Marion about the situation they said they would look into it. Didnt hear back from them until June 2nd which by then I had already made an appointment at *****************. Took it to Paramount on June 14th only to be told ******* warranty wouldnt cover oil consumption. So I told Randy Marion and they told me to come there and they would trade me out of it. I go there and they try to trade me for a Kia **** that was priced at $13,500 plus add $4,000 to it for neg equity off of Hyandai making that car $19,000 final cost which adding the $7,000 down on ******* that had a bad a motor is $26,000 for a 2016 Kia ****. So that being said all they have did is blow me off and drag this process out.Initial Complaint

I will never buy from them again.First: When we bought the vehicle and got it home. We ended up having to put front brakes and a caliber on the very next day! Yes I know a caliber can mess up at anytime. But it needed front brakes because they were almost gone. That is not something that just happens. And we did ask the sales person about the service before putting it on the lot. He had told us they have all vehicles ran through service to be checked.Second: They waited over 15 days to contact us saying they needed to check our insurance again for DMV. My husband spoke to the head of sales financial multiple times in two weeks after the first conversation. Because our 30 day tags were getting ready to run out and they had not fix the problem THEY had with DMV yet. The last conversation was on November the 23rd. The man in financial named ******* said they still hadn't fix the problem, that it could take another 3 to 4 weeks. But he would over night another set of 30 day tags and they would be here by that Saturday 26th. He NEVER did, and I have had expired tags on the vehicle now for 2 days. Making me have to cancel multiple appointments.Initial Complaint

In the words of my lawyers letter, On September 16, 2022 ******************* brought the vehicle in complaining of a rattling noise coming from under the vehicle when accelerating. Your technicians examined the vehicle and found it was low on oil but would not confirm an active oil leak at that time. Instead, you recommended that ******************* continue driving the vehicle for ***** more miles and to selfmonitor the oil levels prior to your company getting involved. Despite *********************** disagreement with this plan and assertion this matter is covered under her purchased warranties, your company has yet to perform the necessary repairs nor allow ******************* to take the vehicle to get a second opinion on your diagnosis. ******************* has contacted our office after repeatedly trying to reach resolution with your employees to no avail. Because of your company's inaction, claim this is not covered under her warranties, and the overall unprofessional behavior towards her and her daughter *******************, ******************* wishes to cancel this transaction effective immediately. In light of the gross misrepresentations concerning the vehicle's condition, ******************* is demanding that all monies paid be refunded, and also, that your company accept return of the vehicle without obligation or penalty.Pursuant to ************** law, it is unlawful for a person engaging in the sale of a motor vehicle to engage in any deceptive or unfair practice which is arbitrary, in bad faith, or unconscionable and which causes damage to any of the parties or to the public. In other words, a seller cannot misrepresent the condition or worthiness of a vehicle when selling it. It is *********************** contention that your company violated this well-founded principal, and that the abovestated demand is more than reasonable. This letter was sent to both mooresville and hickory ** with no response from either.Business Response

Thank you for forwarding the above referenced complaint. In her complaint, ****************** states that she brought her vehicle into our service department sometime after she purchased the vehicle. She purchased the used 2017 ******* vehicle from our Hickory location on September 29, 2021. However, there is no service record for that vehicle in our dealership since the time of purchase, over one year ago.
We will be glad to help ****************** if possible. We will be glad to inspect the vehicle and advise her of her options regarding any repairs or maintenance. If she is unhappy with her vehicle, we will be glad to help her obtain a different vehicle from any of our dealership locations. Complete customer satisfaction is always our number one goal, and we certainly want ****************** completely satisfied with our dealership.
Please let us know if she would like to schedule an service appointment so that we may inspect her car at a time that is convenient for her.
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to her complaint.Initial Complaint
