Completed a shoulder surgery in August 2021. Scheduled to do PT through Moore Orthopedics and it was filed through my insurance provider ****. Was repeatedly told by the PT and billing that I NO copay and that my Physical Therapy and recovery was FULLY COVERED. I continued Physical Therapy, which I never would have paid out of pocket for, my mother is a PT. They assured me it was covered so I competed visits at a rate of 2 times a week for months. I was also told at one point " you have more visits left that are covered fully under your insurance plan if you would like to continue to come" I really liked my progress and PT and if it was fully covered, why not? I ADDED ON EXTRA VISITS. I have recently been hit now, 6 months later, with a $550 bill to cover all of my back co-pays. They claim that they misread and misfiled my insurance and my visits weren't actually free or covered at no copay and I am now responsible for their mistake. I was assured time and time again that I had NO COPAY and that my insurance was covering my visits at no cost to me. They now claim, I should have double checked them and that they were wrong but they are not responsible and that ultimately I need to pay the $550 claim against me. This is outrageous. I would have NEVER done that. I would have never continued PT and I would have never attended PT had I been aware that each visit was $50. I am a single mom and I do not have $550 laying around. I would have done PT at home and with my mother. I was assured for months that it was covered and no cost to me and encouraged to add on extra visits 'since it was covered, I might as well". This is the most disappointing handling of the situation. They offered to 'put me on a payment plan" they will not own their mistake or error.
