On 12/7/23, I received a debt collectors notice from KLS Financial Services for $37.58. I have never received any prior bills for this amount and I am not familiar with this company or account number - ********** notice indicates the debt was acquired between November 26, 2023-November 30, 2023. This has to be a fraudulent bill since I have not received any medical equipment from any company.

Thank you for checking that we are a legitimate BBB accredited company.  We are glad you received our notice, and we will be happy to send you any additional information we have that supports the charges. You can always call our office and speak with someone as well if you do not want to wait for the mail. I hope this eases your concerns. Happy Holidays!

We always recommend the consumer use the dispute process through the credit burueas online. These are sent electronically, and we investigate all of these within a very short time frame. The BBB is not really the best method to address this in public. This has been forwarded for investigation and they will update any findings to the CRA's next week.

      Thanks for your inquiry,

      KLS

I believe my ***** account was sent to collections accidentally. I would like this company to provide proof that my account was not paid in full in 2019. My account was sent to collections in 2021 although I have not been at this organization since 2019. I did not enter any kind of agreement with this collection company regarding this account. If the company is unable to provide proof that I did not pay this amount. I would like them to immediately remove these negative marks from my credit report.

I sent an email to the company which I never heard any response. Then I finally got someone on the phone and it was a credit repair company that was listed in the companys website. I finally got someone from the actual company who said they would address this issue but only if I paid the $26 The people at the credit company were extremely rude and repeatedly threaten to disconnect the phone Call if I did not pay the $26 on the account. I went ahead and payed the amount, but I want to dispute this amount should have ever been on my record.

The account in our office has been resolved and removed. We are unable to provide the consumer with proof of payment that she paid this to the client, because it would not be here if they had that posted. If it is an accident, we are happy to investigate any proof. The consumer does not have a direct contract with our company, her interaction would have been with the original creditor. I have also reached out to the client to resend the bill. Hope that helps.

The consumer does not have to have a contract with KLS as we are a servicer to the client. The consumer has been sent documentation in support of the bill. We are happy to investigate anything the consumer wishes to provide in support of his statement, such a proof of payment. We are also able to accept payment and work towards getting the account resolved. Once that happens, the good news for all consumers is the credit bureaus do delete all medical paid items. Please feel free to contact our office for further assistance.

Earlier this year I noticed that KLS Financial Services is reporting to the three main credit bureaus. I am quite confused because I have never conducted business with this company or any of its subsidiaries. This company did not receive my written permission to access my social security number, date of birth, nor credit file number. I sent a debt validation letter to this company but it has refused to send me any verifying documentation. I disputed this account with each credit bureau however KLS via each bureau verified the inaccurate account. Please permanently remove the account from my credit report. While I do not wish to litigate this matter in court I will do whatever is in my legal right to rectify this issue. I am giving this company 30 days to correct this matter.PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM REPORTING THIS COMPANY TO *********** ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THE AUTHORITATIVE AGENCY IN **************!

      Business response

As a collection agency and business associate of the provider we can have access to information that aides in collecting a bill. As a credit reporting agency, we are obligated to report accurately so it is important to have date of birth or ss to do so. When someone has not paid their bill and the client wants the item to reflect that it is in collections, we will report a collection item to the credit bureaus. The consumer has complained that we have illegally accessed his information. That is not the case. He has claimed something is inaccurate but in no complaint or direct letter to our company has he indicated what is inaccurate. All we can do is confirm the data with our client, confirm the information that comes from the credit bureaus and confirm the balance is still due. When an account is related to a medical bill if a consumer is insured, they can certainly check with their insurance to get more details about what was paid or not paid. This is called an explanation of benefits. These explain what portion the consumer is responsible for verses what the insurance covered on their behalf. If the service is applied to the deductable the consumer receives the benefit of having this applied against the deductable/out of pocket that the Insured has agreed would be their maximum responsibility for that calendar year. It is always good for all consumers to review these explanations. We are always happy to help, investigate or explain a bill. Last year the credit bureaus indicated that all paid medical debt would be deleted. However, if you do not think you owe, give us some details and those items are also deleted if the client made a mistake.

I am writing to inform you that KLS Financial Services has refused to respond to my requests for documentation and information regarding a debt they claim I owe. They have also stated that they are not licensed to collect debt in the state of Mississippi, yet the only states that do not require a license for debt collection are Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Vermont, and Virginia. I am concerned that KLS Financial Services may be operating outside of the law and taking advantage of consumers. I am also alleging that a person or company, without my authorization, used my personal identifying information to apply for goods, services, or money and was successful in creating accounts. This is currently being investigated by the FTC. Under the laws of the United States, I swear that the information I have provided in this letter is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. I am permitted by federal and state law to file this dispute, and any misstatements in this letter are punishable as perjury under 18 U.S.C 1001 and 18 U.S.C 1621. I request that the CFBP take action to investigate KLS Financial Services and their practices, as well as assist me in obtaining the necessary documentation and information from them.

The attachments the consumer included clearly indicate we have been responsive, helpful and informed the consumer that she has not been provided the correct information regarding collection agency license in Mississippi. We provided the financial document the reflects the policy of our client. We service accounts for our client. We are not debt buyers. We are happy to investigate.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:
This is not true. There were no documents sent that says I ******* ***** owe KLS Financial Services any amount. I didn't give them permission to create an account, and I've also provided several laws that weren't being followed so there will be no more contacting of any sort we'll just have to take this to the supreme court. I thank you for the responses though they were little help.
      Sincerely,

KLS does not require the consumer's permission to credit report the delinquency on behalf of the client. The consumer is asking us to send her a document that says she agrees to going to collection and authorized us to report this to the credit bureaus. I am sorry but this does not make sense. The creditor hires us. The consumer was making payments thru our office. Clearly, we are confused as to why suddenly this is not her. We are happy to investigate.

A collections account was added to my credit report. I am not liable for this debt with KLS financial Services. They did not provide me with the proof of debt like I had requested. I demand this account be deleted from my credit report.

      Business response

The consumer was sent several statements to the address on file. The consumer did not respond to a notification that advises him of his rights to dispute within 30 days and to request documents etc. which expired sometime late September. The mailing address for all notices is the same as listed on the complaint. We attempted several notices prior to credit reporting with no dispute initiated or response. The consumer did initiate a dispute through the credit bureaus which requires us to investigate which we did, and the client had confirmed the data and balance. We requested the consumer receive another bill. The mail delivery notification has indicated the mail was delivered. Perhaps he is confused because the item is for a minor? We are always happy to clear up any confusion and certainly attempted to contact the consumer and he has not returned any messages. In an effort to help further, we will send another bill.  The file is marked as disputed. If we could speak with the consumer, it may be possible to expedite his request for this to be removed. In the meantime, since the only dispute received was through the credit bureaus it should be suppressed by them while we reinitiate another bill to go to his address. Because the consumer believes someone else is liable, knowing why and how we can help also expedites the matter. We are here to expedite resolution between our client and the consumer and are always happy to help. I would encourage the consumer to reach out to our office directly.

On 8/3/22, I sent a dispute letter to a collection company: KLS Financial Services requesting they validate an alleged debt in the amount of $147.50. KLS Financial Services did not provide any proof that I owed this debt or that they are legally authorized to collect this debt. The collection agency provided a screenshot of an accounts receivable summary with a name of a physician I’ve never seen and no evidence of validation and/or my obligation to pay this debt to this collection agency. The company did not provide any documentation with my signature clearly showing that I agreed to any medical service or to pay the amount of the alleged debt in accordance to a medical service. I am quite familiar with US code 15 USC 1692e which clearly states that it is a violation of my rights for a collection company to use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation in connection with the collection of any debt.

In response, KLS responded to the consumer's request for validation even though the initial validation was in February of 2020. I do not see a DIRECT dispute received at any time until October. I have attached this for the BBB as it seemed quite aggressive. We did update the address.

In reading through the lines, it appears that you want more proof than the break-down of charges for what appears to be a dependent. That has been mailed to you. Hopefully that will help. If there is something more, we can investigate for you we are happy to do so.
