1 starOur previously went on a womens getaway. There were about 25 of us, and I mistakenly left a pair of very expensive sneakers. My mother, who has already filed a complaint, called and spoke to housekeeping who then told her they had the shoes, and she would be receiving a phone call as to how they would be shipped, long story short, she spoke to about three different people who were very nasty, very rude, unprofessional to me and to her after all of that I finally received my shoes a week and a half later, and when they arrived to my home, they had definitely been worn, and they reeked of smoke or Someone that owns a pet my shoes were double knotted, which they were not when I left them which lets me know that someone definitely wore my shoes and they were trying to cover up, not having them because they were trying to keep them. I am very unhappy and disgusted with the way things were handled , long story short do not rent from better beach rentals because their customer service is absolutely horrible on top of having trouble with things in the house that we stayed in.Review fromJoanne D

1 starA grou of 25 women rented a property from Better Beach Rentals. One person left an expensive pair of shoes I called the same day to ask if housekeeping could retrieve and return I would pay whatever the cost. I spoke to at least 3 people, very nasty, unprofessional. Finallysent to voicemail ***** the Reservations manager called and simply stated "we do not have the shoes, we are not responsible for them, it's stated in the contract, it is my responsibilty to keep up with my things and do not call them again". Nasty, rude, unprofessional and non caring staff.There was also several problems with the house, the house had not been cleaned, floors dirty with sand, toilet had bee used and not flushed, trash under the beds, not enough linen and towels, elevator stopped working, had to walk down 3 flights of stairs. So much more i could say but bottom line - DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!Review fromCathy L

Second summer at the same place. Ice maker was still out of commission. At least we had hot water this year. No pressure though. No beach chairs as advertised when we arrived. Refrigerator was not working. Some kind of flying insects came out of the roof. Dead cockroach in the bedroom. Air conditioning died on the 1st floor living area. We had window units installed that night. The beach chairs were finally provided and 2 broke the first day. I will say prompt and friendly service!Better Beach Rentals, Inc.

My family has spent Thanksgiving on ********** for years. I reserved a house for our family members on 5/28. On my initial contact with BBRS, the rep. insisted I pay the deposit on the spot which was $1706.42. I quickly grabbed the credit card I would be using for an international trip this week and paid the deposit. She then sent a confirmation and a contract with policies. The following day, a family member decided they could not afford the 3 nights November ***** rental of $3,366.71, w/ a child going to college and another, a new driver. The family made the decision to stay at home and forego the family tradition. I tried to reach BBRS on May 30th- No answer - so I sent an email. I didn't hear back, so I called a couple more times. Finally, a man answered and told me that in order to receive a refund of my $1700+ deposit, I had to cancel in 24 hrs. of making the reservation. I became very upset! I could not believe I was going to lose $1700 because it had been nearly 48 hours after reserving the house - instead of 24 hours! I told him I was aware of the policy, but actually I was NOT. How could I be when the contract, which was very long and I hadn't received it until AFTER she charged my card, on the phone during my initial call to rent the property?I was mortified! He asked me to send him the email in which I had first asked for the cancellation. I forwarded it to him 3 times because I needed confirmation that he received it. That was Saturday, June 1st. I have sent two long emails since further explaining my dilemma about needing the money for my travels. I have received no response and this is June 4. I need the money by June 8 and I have made that point. How can a company that serves the public get away with a 24 hr. cancellation policy - especially for a rental that is 6 mos. away. It's not like my cancellation deprived them of not renting the property for Thanksgiving. What are they doing with my $1700? Their customer service is ono-existent!Better Beach Rentals, Inc.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated, and we are dedicated to addressing the concerns youve expressed. I see that you and your family have stayed with us for several years now and we thank you for choosing BBR. As with all reservations, when you book, you are required to place a deposit on the reservation. Our cancellation policy, that you have received each year, states that when you reserve a property and choose to cancel, you must do so in writing, and then either file a travel insurance claim with the optional travel insurance that we encourage our guest to purchase, or you can wait to see if it rebooks to receive a refund. As a courtesy to our guest, we will cancel and give a full refund if they cancel within 24 hours of booking. Unfortunately, you did not reach out to our office until 5/31 and it was cancelled right after you sent in the request. I would NOT rent with this company. I rented with them through Airbnb and wish I had done the research I have now on this company. Also Airbnb will not help you as they leave it to the host if any issues arise.Better Beach Rentals, Inc.

*****, we see you canceled your reservation for being unable to make the dates. Unfortunately, the property never rebooked for those dates so you were not eligible for a refund. As a small family-owned company, we do not have the means to offer a more flexible refund policy. Our policy has always been that no refunds are *****ed unless the property rebooks, minus the cancellation fee. This was stated multiple times in our message chain, our Vacation Rental Agreement, and our Airbnb listing where the cancellation policy is defined. We apologize that we could not ***** you a refund because the property did not rebook, but you were notified of that policy multiple times. Our local competitors have extremely similar policies, and it is the industry standard in this area. We do try to rebook homes to the best of our ability. We must uphold our policies to be an accountable business that consumers can rely on. 1 starDear Property Owners and Guests,It may be worth your time to do some research on the employees including the owners of this company, Better Beach Rentals and Sales. You can find public records for legal proceedings that clearly question the credibility of these individuals working for Better Beach Rentals and Sales. You will find felony charges and some convictions, assault with deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, drug charges (cocaine), larceny, and conviction of a ****** police officer. You will find bankruptcy proceedings as well that pin down questions about unethical business practices. It really does pay to do your homework before you hand the keys over to your million dollar plus homes to the likes of these individuals to manage your property or conduct a property sale for you. I cannot speak from the guest perspective, but my advice is for you do do your homework on Better Beach Rentals and Sales before you do any business with them.Review fromRalph E

1 starI met **** to sign up my rental. She breached and lied then said Bret would work with me. Then Mr *****. No one knows what is going on. Breached contract twice. After reading other reviews I am relieved. Seems everyone there wants to be the chief. Cost me thousands. I would not recommend. I feel as they wanted to do updates for the money. I had another decorator so stepped on ****'s wishes. First I was impressed then the flippant behavior was to overwhelming. Seems much false information with Better Beach Rentals. Very unreliable. Bret seemed helpful then Mr ***** offered his opinion. Next the verbal contract was breached.
