I am not entirely surprised to read the other BBB review of Avian & Exotic Animal Care... I too got "discommunicated" because I dared to question a price. I have been a customer here for nearly two years, have spent many hours and thousands of dollars at A&E having physicals, beak and nail trims, imaging, medications prescribed, etc., for my five doves. I thought my relationship to the veterinarian I worked with meant a lot more than it apparently did. Of my five pet birds, only one needs to be boarded when I'm out of town because he requires oral medications three times daily. I've brought him in for boarding numerous times, and until recently, they boarded him in "regular boarding," though on occasion have boarded him on the "tech side" so they can watch him more. (Note: There have been no changes to his health since he boarded on the LESS EXPENSIVE SIDE of the clinic...and he was fine there.) But this time, they not only let me know that he "needed" to be boarded on the tech side (about 3X the price of regular boarding), and that not to do so was in direct violation of the veterinarian's recommendation. And even though EVERYONE boarding a pet signs a disclaimer protecting the clinic from responsibility should anything happen to that animal (and that is fair), they made a special point of creating a special, demeaning contract for me to sign, indicating that I was willfully going against the veterinarian's wishes. I was clearly upset by that, though I didn't use any coarse language or threats, and would have even given into their bullying and paid their higher rate, even though is had all the appearances of "price gouging." But when I used the word "bullying" (which is was), they invited me to the front door, and said that if I didn't leave immediately, they would call the police. They did, and the police came and told me I was "trespassing" even if I had doing nothing wrong -- that accusation was totally at the discretion of the clinic. Shocking.

Questioning a price had nothing to do with us ending our relationship with you, it was your verbal abuse of our staff. One of our team members worked hard on your behalf to come up with a plan that would allow your pet to stay with us at a cost you were comfortable with, getting it signed off on by both a manager and a doctor. This is something she also clearly communicated to you at your visit a week prior. But when she presented it to you on the day of your pet's stay, you got upset with her, raising your voice repeatedly and cursing at her. When she asked you to stop yelling at her, you responded that it was "your privilege" to do so and continued to scream at her, to the point of bringing a very strong young woman to tears. Even after that verbal abuse from you, she maintained her professionalism and asked her manager for assistance in helping you. They worked together to reword the document you didn't like and were hoping to speak calmly about correcting your behavior towards the staff. But when the manager approached you to discuss resolving the situation, you immediately got aggressive, raising your voice and using plenty of course language. At that point the manager decided that due to your belligerent behavior they were no longer comfortable working with you, and you were asked to leave. You refused and were politely asked again multiple times. Eventually you left the manager with no choice but to call law enforcement for assistance, as you made it clear that you would not leave otherwise. We are sincerely sorry that we will no longer be able to help your pets, but we simply will not serve someone who verbally abuses our staff.

UPDATE on 9/13/2022 - Several statements from the owner are untrue: (1) I did not curse at anyone; (2) they never offered me a "reworded document"; and (3) I only stayed because the business manager's FIRST words were: "We're done and you need to leave or I will call the police." Would anyone else's veterinarian tell them to leave or they'll call the police??? This is not a reasonable business manager or a clinic you'd want to take your pets to.
