I towed my 2008 BMW M5 to Bimmer Performance Center (BPC) to diagnose an engine problem. The result of the diagnostic was that my engine needed to be replaced. I located a used motor from ***** I had the motor examined before purchase. The results of the pre-purchase check were favorable. I purchased to motor and delivered it to BPC for installation. I arrived to deliver the motor to BPC. BPC performed a receipt inspection. The motor was initially accepted for a direct installation. BPC performed a thorough inspection and discovered damage that prevented a direct installation. BPC notified me of the issue. I had two choices. Return the motor. Or 100% rebuild the engine. I choose the 100% rebuild. I purchased new parts and several. refurbished parts to support the rebuild. BPC advised inhouse sourcing of parts would improve the rebuild. I complied. The rebuild was completed. After delivery I noticed excessive oil consumption. I notified BPC. Shortly after the check engine warning light appeared. BPC advised me to have the vehicle towed to BPC for diagnostic. The results of the diagnostic where the machining was done incorrectly which caused the problem. The motor was deemed useless. BPC installed a used "refreshed" motor into the vehicle. I picked up the vehicle. I contacted BPC as there was a significant difference in cost between what I paid for and the final product. BPC response was the difference in cost was approximately $2500.00. I disagreed. Due to the distance, the amount of money owed ($28,228.64), i hired an attorney to rectify the matter on my behalf. We offered to resolve the matter for $18k. BPC refused. We offered to use mediation to solve the matter. BPC requested every invoice for everything purchased for the rebuild. We complied and asked to use mediation to avoid the cost of court and legal fees. BPC found discrepancies in the invoice in their favor which was approximately $3000. we corrected the figure ($24828.21). BPC refused to settle.
