Over the past year, we have engaged HomeEnrich and the owner, *************************, to help design and build a home remodel including an extension. We signed a contract in November 2023 and paid the initial deposit of $29K to fund the first contractual milestone: completion of engineering, blueprint creation and permits. HomeEnrich initially came out in December 2023 to complete measurements for the engineering and blueprint creation, projecting a completion timeline of January 2024. We were finally contacted in March ***************************************************** communication from January 2024. At this time, we agreed to start over with the measurements process for engineering and blueprint creation in order to complete the deliverables we had already paid for. In May 2024, HomeEnrich came to our home to begin the process again with engineering measurements. After this meeting, we have reached out repeatedly for next steps and have received no response or acknowledgement from HomeEnrich. The engineering start date in the contract was set at June 13, 2024, which came and went without communication. Due to the repeated lack of communication and multiple missed deliverables and milestones, we have lost trust in HomeEnrich's ability to complete the project or even deliver upon the first milestone of the contract. On July 15, ************************************************************************************************** acknowledgement.Initial Complaint

We paid a 25% ($16767.52) deposit on 7/24/2023, and have plans and minimal demo to show for it. The demo currently creates an inaccessible exit from house to backyard and is unsafe. The deadlines weve been given for completion have come and gone. Permits have been stalled for 3 months, Home Enrich has not provided details as to why the permits have not been submitted. I called the **************** permit office on 2/12/24 to check status of permits and was told that there are 3 issues with permit - 1: Missing License #, 2: Listed owner on lien agent is not the property owner, 3: COI expired, have not submitted their updated license information. ***** will say hes planning on coming out to begin work but then doesnt show up. We arent receiving any clear communication as to whats causing delays. We have phone calls and texts that ***** returned, and emails that are ignored for weeks at a time. We have lost confidence that Home Enrich will complete the project and are concerned they might be a scam.Business Response

***** ******* of Home Enrich LLC has received a total downpayment of
$67,500.00 for a kitchen renovation. He has had this payment since
September 2022.
To date, no building permits have been secured, and the only visible and
known work includes limited engineered drawings. Despite multiple
requests ***** will not provide evidence of insurance or provide any
invoices incurred thus far on our home.
In an effort to move our home construction project forward in some
manner, we reduced his scope of work given his failure to undertake to
properly carry out his contractual obligations, but thus far ***** has
only been willing to have me execute a change order adding scope and
costs. After multiple attempts to reach him, he has refused to respond
or amend for us to proceed.
We sent a settlement agreement to try and resolve this issue in a fair
and reasonable manner for all involved. He again has not responded to
any of our attempts to resolve this. He has taken $67,500 from us and
has done no work.Business Response

On behalf of Home Enrich, LLC, we are sorry to hear that this customer did not have the best experience possible with our company and the services that we provided, and continued to offer to provide, despite the customer’s own breach of the contract with Home Enrich, LLC. Our company’s mission is to always provide high quality, professional services that exceed the customer’s expectations. That being said, we believe it is necessary to respond to this complaint by addressing the false and misleading statements alleged against Home Enrich.
First, this project began as a laundry room remodel. This customer had their own private designer with whom Home Enrich worked in designing the renovation. After spending a month working on the design, plans, and costs for the laundry room, the customer then asked Home Enrich to renovate their entire kitchen, which Home Enrich agreed to do. While working on the design and proposal for the kitchen renovation, a water leak was discovered in the crawl space of the home.
The water leak was then submitted as a claim under the customer’s homeowners’ insurance policy. To make matters worse, during the insurance inspection it was discovered that mold and asbestos were present at the property, which required a third-party contractor to remediate. It was anticipated that it would take approximately three months to complete the remediation work, and because the hazardous conditions were located in and around the kitchen area, Home Enrich could not begin its work until the remediation work was completed—a fact that this customer was well aware of.
Ultimately, the remediation work took nearly four months to complete. During this time, and continuing for about another month after the remediation work was finished, Home Enrich worked tirelessly with this customer and their designer to develop the plans for their desired kitchen. However, each time a design was close to being finalized, this customer would decide that they wanted a different design, which would result in a change in the scope of the previous design.
In our Company’s experience, this is not an uncommon occurrence, and Home Enrich is well equipped to handle these kinds of changes in order to provide the customer with a finished product that exceeds their expectations. However, repeatedly changing the plans and scope of the project requires a substantial amount of time and work on Home Enrich’s part—another fact that this customer was well-aware of. Likewise, until the customer decides on a design/plan for their renovations, Home Enrich cannot apply for or obtain a building permit.
Nevertheless, Home Enrich was happy to oblige in order to build what this customer desired. Initially, the parties entered into a written contract around the time the remediation work began, and a couple months later entered into a second agreement, which was an amendment to the first contract to incorporate the change in the scope at the time. Approximately two months after the second agreement was signed, and following multiple changes to the overall scope and design of the project, Home Enrich then began—yet again—working on the construction drawings, soliciting bids from subcontractors, and otherwise spending many hours planning and preparing for construction of the most recent design. When Home Enrich provided the customer with the estimated cost, however, the customer indicated that it was not within their budget. So, yet again, Home Enrich continued to work with the customer and their designer to make further changes to the project in order to bring it within the budget.
When it appeared that the customer had finally decided on a desired design that was within budget, Home Enrich sent a proposed new agreement that incorporated the changes in scope from the existing agreement. The customer, however, refused to accept the proposed agreement. Instead, and for unknown reasons, the customer demanded that Home Enrich perform the new scope of work, but refused to agree to the new scope, contractually. Furthermore, the customer attempted to coerce Home Enrich into waiving/releasing its lien rights, which is illegal in North Carolina.
Ultimately, after Home Enrich refused to perform the new scope of work demanded by the customer without an agreement to be compensated, and refused to illegally waive its lien rights, the customer unilaterally terminated their existing contract, without cause or the right to do so, therefore breaching the contract.
Since the time of the customer’s breach, and contrary to what the customer states in the complaint, Home Enrich has had numerous communications with this customer attempting to resolve the matter. Additionally, both Home Enrich and this customer are represented by attorneys, and those attorneys have been in communications. Nevertheless, this customer continues to make these baseless complaints against Home Enrich and leave negative reviews on various websites, which we believe are for the purpose of trying to disparage and harm the reputation of Home Enrich, LLC.
While we are sympathetic to this customer’s situation with respect to the mold remediation (not performed by us) taking nearly five months to complete, Home Enrich worked tirelessly with this customer to provide them with the product that they desired. Unfortunately, this customer’s complaint seems to be based on Home Enrich’s refusal to work for free.
And since both parties are represented by counsel, Home Enrich remains hopeful that this matter will be resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I am rejecting this response because:You state your refusal to work for free. You have already been paid the money. You took s $67,500 deposit and we received nothing in return.
You reference my refusal to accept a revised proposal agreement. You actually sent me a change order to sign, which only added to the scope of work and cost. As I stated previously, I only asked that the document reflect a deduction of the original contract value, a credit for what you had already been paid to date, and a noted balance due of $0, as you and I agreed that the work was not to exceed the deposit already given to you. I have multiple emails with this same request and my willingness to sign with these changes to move forward. You also state that I wouldn't sign this for unknown reasons. This is again inaccurate. I have explained it above and to you multiple times. The fact is that you expected me to sign another document for more money, when you already had the entire amount of $67,500.
It's also misleading for you to write that we've been in communication to resolve this matter. From the date we sent the proposed settlement agreement on 2/24, you have made no attempt to resolve this. While there has been communication, from your attorney asking for time to review, at no point did you respond to our proposed solution or provide an alternate one to move forward. It wasn't until I started writing reviews that we got a response from your attorney, stating that my actions will now affect Homeenrich's willingness to work towards an amicable solution. Again, you provide no actionable resolution, just further stating your unwillingness to work on one. You just stated in your BBB response that Homeenrich is hopeful that this matter will be resolved to the customers satisfaction. You had the past 2 months to reach out to discuss, if you had actually wanted to resolve this issue.
While Homeenrich's counsel is responding to my complaints, I am writing this of my own accord. Homeenrich needs to stop stating that our lawyers are in communication in attempts to resolve this issue and both parties are represented by counsel. Homeenrich chose not to respond to our settlement agreement or propose a resolution where we could move forward and amicably part ways. My complaints and responses thereafter are all my own. To state otherwise is inaccurate.

On behalf of Home Enrich, this customer has initiated communication with an attorney, so this issue is being handled legally, and there is nothing else to report at this time.

I am not consulting counsel. For you to again state otherwise is untrue. I have received no correspondence from you or your lawyer in any attempt to come to a resolution. This only further shows that you have no intention to try and resolve this.
