We frequently go to Topsail for holiday, and have never had an experience as awful as dealing with Treasure Realty.
Upon arrival the hot tub was green and had large amounts of sand in it (we had paid an additional $200 for "activation" and fresh fill and had verified with the manager the night before that it would be ready upon arrival). They sent a technician out and he added some chlorine and said it was normal. This is definitely not accurate. We have rented homes with a hot tub numerous times and never had this occur. No refund or apology was offered.
We definitely should have been refunded the hot tub activation fee since it was unused the entire trip (water stayed discolored).
The indoor ******* tub was also inoperable. They offered to send a technician to diagnose, but the last thing I want while on holiday is to have a service person in our living area.
Unfortunately the nightmare was just beginning. We stayed during the renourishment project and we were assured that the work was heading away from our rental. Upon day 1 we realized the central hub of the project was infact 2 lots away from the rental. We were awoken every morning at 6 am sharp to the sounds of dump trucks unloading sand. The constant beeping and smell of diesel fuel from 4 to 5 front loaders continued daily (including Saturday) until 6pm.
I reached out to the manager, *****, to inform him of the status and his response was "thanks for the info".
I feel we were intentionally misinformed about the scope of the renourishment, and if we had the facts could have saved ourselves a lot of disappointment and money.
As if this was not enough incompetency for the week, mid-afternoon while preparing lunch a relator from a different company entered the rental without our permission using the lock code that treasure reality provided her! Our poor 7 pound dog was going crazy and it was very upsetting. An unannounced entry to the home is not acceptable. I felt uneasy the rest of the stay.

Thank you for giving us an opportunity to respond to this review. We were made aware of the beach renourishment project that was likely to have an impact on their stay, and first contacted them 15 days prior to their scheduled arrival informing them of the scheduled beach renourishment project and its potential impact on their vacation. They were sent no less than 7 photos that we were able to capture leading up to their stay of the progress at that given moment. I had two separate conversations over the phone with *******'s husband, assessing our opinions on the photos and what we could try to project based on said photos. I was very clear that despite what I saw, I couldn't guarantee anything and we had no idea what the crew would be doing during their stay. On 4/9 and 4/15 I expressed to them that the owner was willing to allow them out of their contract to seek another home on our program to stay in that week due to their concerns about the project, or to take a 20% discount for the potential disruption that it could cause. They elected to take the discount, and reaffirmed that stance the day before their check in. *******'s husband asked if we could up the discount to 30% due to the stress that they were feeling and I told him that we wouldn't be able to discount any more than 20%, but they still had an opportunity to move to another unit if they were concerned about it. Despite them claiming that they were assured that it would not impact their stay, an email was sent by me to ******* on 4/9, here is what the email read, "Hey there *******, Here is our current state of the unit and the beach. Per the guys taking the photos, there are trucks and a crane about 100 yards to the north at the public access but aren't actively working. Though it looks really good right now, I don't want to guarantee this is a true reflection of what you can expect during your time there. Please let us know if you have any questions and/or how you would like to proceed and we'll be happy to help accordingly. Thank you!" I was very careful to relay that I couldn't guarantee anything, and we were simply operating with the best and most recent updates we were receiving leading up to their stay. They reported that the hot tub was green upon arrival, and they sent a picture showing that it had a very slight tint which was most likely a reflection of the sky. Still, they had a technician out to the unit within 90 minutes of their report to take a look at it. When they sent a report to me on what they experienced during their stay, I sent an email thanking them for taking the time to provide us with specific information so that we could inform the following tenants, and extending my hopes that they've still managed to have a great week and hopefully enjoy the rest of their time. When I informed the owner of the property that the tenants scheduled for the following week were confirmed to be moved, his listing agent misinterpreted my email and went to the property on their last day of vacation. I truly do regret that that happened and that the last 21 hours or so of their stay was reported to be extremely uncomfortable, though we were happy that they decided to stay and enjoy the rest of their time in the home. It is extremely disappointing to see that we have been disparaged by this guest on the BBB and in another online review, despite working hard for two weeks prior to their arrival to present as much information as we possibly could to set expectations and even give them an entire week to make the decision to find another property that wasn't in the vicinity. We were also quick to jump on their reports during their vacation. Their account is simply inaccurate and unfortunate.

An email was sent to us attempting to give us a small refund in exchange for NOT submitting bad reviews; and our email back to the Treasure Realty Director: Per attorney's counsel- we appreciate your apologies regarding our vacation rental home issues- we never discussed, agreed or signed any documentation regarding any of stipulations you placed on accepting the refund/discount you have issued. Our concern isn't the monetary refund or any future discount (the $282.38 refund and 5/% discount for a non-prime time rental next year); but with any future renters who come into this vacation home expecting at least a moderate level of cleanliness/repair. We spent 3/20/22, 3/21, and 3/22 with repairmen at house a great deal of each of those days; and a family member had to stay behind all of those days while repairmen were there. Major issues: • No heat on main living level x 2 days; with temp going down to 57 degrees. (Temp in the 20's outside that week). Our 3 week old grandson had to leave since it was too cold for a baby. HVAC repairman stated that there was leak in coolant line behind wall. Repairman stated that he could temporarily fix- but it would break again soon- meaning no heat or AC. Fireplace didn't work because no gas connected to it. • Washing machine was broke. Mini wash machine brought in on day # 3 in house; then new wash machine brought in evening of day # 4. • Fridge ice maker broke. Under counter ice maker didn't work and had black mold in it. Fridge ice maker repaired 3/22; and repairman stated the under the counter ice maker "was most likely condemned and not to use it". • Hot tub had no lights and filter cover was missing. • Clothes dryer kept overheating. • Outside electrical box has large hole in top of it; making unsafe for all occupants. Were told "owner is aware". Have since discovered that the BBB have multiple issues with this company; and has a poor review score for some of these same issues. *House rented out all summer already!
