I am a first time customer with a need to ship a crate from Seattle to upstate New York. I dropped off the crate for shipment by Old Dominion then offered my credit card for payment. It was returned by the guy behind the counter with a hand written phone number I was asked to call to make the credit card payment within a specific time frame…8am to 8 pm. . He specifically said the crate would not move until payment was received. After leaving the terminal I called the number which reached an automated voice asking for the invoice number. Repeatedly, the number I entered was invalid. I pressed the ”star” key for assistance as directed. Eventually I was handed off to Monica (in the very same office as the guy behind the counter) who said the crate had ALREADY SHIPPED! Then I found out the cost was to be $2500. Had I known this at the counter when I tried to pay with the card I would have shipped elsewhere for 1/4 the price. So now my crate will arrive in a few days with a charge that I do not have the funds to pay!!!

I am a small business owner. I had a vendor choose to use Old Dominion to pick up an order from my facility. The vendor set up the pick up with Old Duminion and all I had to do is load the items on the truck. The driver called me for directions because he had no idea how to get to my business. He showed up 2 hours late, had no paperwork, placards and on top of it, Dan was a total *******. He ******* to me for a while and then left. I called the dispatcher and asked him why the driver had no directions, BOL, Placards or manners. The dispatcher was obviously a sissy who took offense to my complaint and when I asked for his manager he hung up on me. I will never recommend Old Duminion to anyone and will never use them myself ever again.

I am employed by a small non-profit organization in Houston. We had used generous, hard-earned grant money to purchase much-needed equipment, and our vendor chose Old Dominion to deliver our shipment to Houston, where we then needed to use a borrowed moving truck to transfer our equipment to our storage unit. When the shipment arrived, I noticed that it was one pallet short of what we had purchased. The driver called the OD office and discovered that the missing pallet had been placed onto the wrong truck and it was "stuck in Memphis." Thus, we had to arrange for another delivery, which entail choosing another 4-hour waiting window on a workday, borrowing a truck again, taking time off work, and recruiting volunteers to help (as this is very heavy, bulky equipment). I dealing with the local OD office, I appealed to the office manager to see if they would be willing to deliver our one missing pallet directly to our storage unit, thus saving us having to borrow a truck again and to cut down on the need for so many volunteer helpers. After several hours, she called me with the answer of NO. Therefore, I made arrangements for the truck and started asking for volunteers, arranged time off, etc. The following morning, a Friday, I called her to verify the window of 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. and she said, "Sure, so we are setting this up for Monday?" I nearly ran off the road! She claimed we had never discussed a Friday delivery (false). I told her it had to be that day. About an hour later she called me to say the driver would be at the delivery location in 30 minutes. I asked if it would be the same driver as before and she said NO. I wanted to know because I had saved his number and he had been very helpful and friendly. Well, the truck showed up and it was the same driver! He could not understand why the OD office manager had lied to me, and I don't either. I also don't understand why "company policy" prohibits alternate delivery only 1.5 miles away.

Just completed the U-pack process with Old D. It had to be the best experience on moving my personal items cross country. I would recommend anybody to use it. Drivers were also very friendly when dropping the trailer off at my location. ****

Very frustrated with Old Dominion. They quote a business rate and then the actual charge is for residential and higher than quoted. And it is a location that is clearly a business. Misleading and dishonest.

Old Dominion Freight Lines banned from our premises. Fifteen years ago, we had several battery deliveries arrive short via Old Dominion. Claims were submitted, and denied by OD. Since that time, we do not accept deliveries from OD; there is a sign posted on the loading dock to that effect. Unfortunately, a new employee accepted a battery shipment in February 2023 that arrived via OD. The shipment was damaged, and noted on the OD paperwork, and a claim form with documentation and photos submitted 2/27. No reply from OD, Calls to the claims office automatically disconnect. This is a horrible company to deal with, and we have informed Energizer that they not ship via OD for our orders, and have recommended they drop OD completely. Only one star because -1 is not an option.

We had an emergency situation come up and needed a truck to pick up 5 crates in a very short time period. We also needed them delivered early in the morning for a trade show. Old Dominion SVC Manager in Miami (Patrick S.) was able to help us out. Customer service was amazing, he kept in contact until the goods were delivered. He was calm and professional, found a solution to a very stressful situation and followed through. I did not receive the same help from any other company I called at the time. We will be using Old Dominion for future trade shows- their experience and customer care are worth it.

Old Dominion stuck me with an over-length charge of 1000.00. Everyone I talked to told me they couldn't do anything to help. 6 pieces of stainless steel cost me 1250.70 in shipping fees along with the cost of the materials. They are terrible to work with no one seems to care that losing a customer means money. I will not be using them in the future.

Starting November 1, 2021 shipments containing one or more articles that equal or exceed 8 feet in length, will be subject to a charge of $1,000 per shipment in addition to all other applicable charges. Old Dominion is the best freight company I have ever used. I have tried many other companies but nothing compares. I insist on only using them.
